CLONING – YES OR NO?
Dora Levstek & Tjaša Trampuš2.c
WHAT IS CLONING?
• It is becoming more and more familiar today• Cloning cells, tissues, organs and
also whole organisms
• Sheep Dolly ----> year 1996
• Two types of cloning: - reproductive - therapeutic• During cloning we can have a lot of
problems: - during later development - abnormal gene expression
patterns - telomeric differences• https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mc

PRESENTATION OF MR KNEŽEVIĆ
• Good and bad sides of cloning!• Cloning cells and tissues can help
us in lots of situations• Genetically modified food and
plants (Africa)• Detection and treatment of many
diseases
• Cloning bigger organisms – not ethical acceptable and against the nature• Lots of problems with cloning
today• Hollywood films!• http://www.youtube.com/watch?v

A QUESTIONNAIRE
• Attitude towards cloning is dependent of gender and age
• Disagreement:• Against a law of nature• Unethical• People will lose their individuality and unique• Possibility of abuse (army etc.)• Other reasons (overpopulation, we have
already changed our planet, so we don’t need to do the same with people)
CONCLUSION• Two parts – minority who agree with
human cloning and majority who disagree
• Issue in the past few years
• Great scientific discovery / disaster waiting to happen
• People think the money and effort used for cloning research can be better put into other researches
OUR OPINION ABOUT CLONING
• World of genetics is fascinating• Cloning should not be use to
reproduce humans• Cloning cells tissues and organs
would be advantageous to science and medicine
CLONING IN THE WORLD
• Legal in United Kingdom, Israel, South Korea and Australia
• Illegal in many parts of the world, including the United States
