The Salford Lung Study is a GSK sponsored study in collaboration with the University of Manchester and health services in Salford. CK Clinical has already recruited a large community study nurse team based around volunteer primary care clusters and pharmacies to drive this exciting research project. The project is now fully underway, with patient recruitment taking place for the last 6 weeks. It is therefore a very busy and equally very important time within the whole project and has resulted in a need for additional Clinical Research Nurses to join the existing teams. The Clinical Research Nurses ensure patient safety and play a key role liaising with doctors, nurses, practice staff and other HCPs, helping them prepare and develop ready to join the study. CRN’s maintain adherence with the study protocols, follow up patient events and provide respiratory patient review for practices as part of the study and in some practices as a part of routine care. The successful candidates will be keen to contribute proactively to the project’s completion and will clearly demonstrate team working and networking skills and the ability to develop effective working relationships. The role requires a registered nurse qualification recognised in the UK. Experience as a Clinical Research Nurse or a role within Clinical Operations is essential as the nature of the position will require complying with and maintaining Good Clinical Practice (GCP) throughout the study, performing study visits with patient volunteers, gaining consent and reviewing patients as per protocol. Additional Diplomas in respiratory care would be an advantage, as would experience in COPD/Asthma care, but this is not essential for the role. You must be in possession of a driving licence and your own car (with insurance covered for business usage), as the positions involve travel in the Greater Manchester region. These positions represent an exciting opportunity to join a high profile academic study and offer real development opportunities for experienced candidates with the drive and motivation to bring it to a successful conclusion. An excellent salary and benefits package includes 30 (+8) days holiday pa, pension and medical insurance (optional).
