Welcome to our Fall Edition Pick of The Pen Bull Sale. What an exciting time it is to be in the cattle business! Calf prices are sky high with tight cow sup-plies the progressive cowman is definitely in the driv-er’s seat for the next several years. There has never been a better time to vamp up your genetic selections to the next level to prepare for the future.

We felt our first auction last spring was a success and would like to thank both our new and repeat custom-ers for their tremendous support. We have several customers that would like bulls for fall turnout so we are conducting a sale this fall. This marks our 16th year in the registered seedstock business and we are here for the long run. It is our passion to breed cattle that work for the progressive commercial cattleman as well as enjoying relationships made with long term repeat customers to help create the type of cow herd they desire. We are constantly striving to bring you the finest genetics possible through AI and Embryo Transfer. We also take advantage of new technology whenever applicable; all Angus bulls will sell HD50K DNA Tested. Many of our bulls have up to 8 gen-erations of complete AI or ET pedigrees stacked full of highly proven sires. We place major emphasis on the little things that matter the most such as fertility, structural correctness, udder quality, cow longevity and disposition along with maintaining balanced traits across the board.

This set of bulls have performed very well their entire life. They were weaned the first of July, entered the developing yard on August 4th and were ultrasounded 64 days later. We feel very confident in their ability to produce top carcass steers with an excellent rate of gain. By leaving the bulls on grass later and in the yard for a shorter time allows them to develop more naturally and be more athletic and reproductively sound instead of becoming over fat and lazy.

Birth Weight EPD (BW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit birth weight to his progeny compared to that of other sires. Weaning Weight EPD (WW), expressed in pounds, is a predic-tor of a sire’s ability to transmit weaning growth to his progeny com-pared to that of other sires. Yearling Weight EPD (YW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit yearling growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires. Scrotal Circumference EPD (SC), expressed in centimeters, is a predictor of the difference in transmitting ability for scrotal size compared to that of other sires. Calving Ease Maternal (CEM), is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births with a higher value indicating greater calving ease in first-calf daughters. It predicts the average ease with which a sire’s daughters will calve as first-calf heifers when compared to daughters of other sires. Ribeye Area EPD (RE), expressed in square inches, is a pre-dictor of the difference in ribeye area of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. Fat Thickness EPD (Fat), expressed in inches, is a predictor of the differences in external fat thickness at the 12th rib (as measured between the 12th and 13th ribs) of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires.

We felt our first auction last spring was a success and would like to thank both our new and repeat custom-ers for their tremendous support. We have several customers that would like bulls for fall turnout so we are conducting a sale this fall. This marks our 16th year in the registered seedstock business and we are here for the long run. It is our passion to breed cattle that work for the progressive commercial cattleman as well as enjoying relationships made with long term repeat customers to help create the type of cow herd they desire. We are constantly striving to bring you the finest genetics possible through AI and Embryo Transfer. We also take advantage of new technology whenever applicable; all Angus bulls will sell HD50K DNA Tested. Many of our bulls have up to 8 gen-erations of complete AI or ET pedigrees stacked full of highly proven sires. We place major emphasis on the little things that matter the most such as fertility, structural correctness, udder quality, cow longevity and disposition along with maintaining balanced traits across the board.

This set of bulls have performed very well their entire life. They were weaned the first of July, entered the developing yard on August 4th and were ultrasounded 64 days later. We feel very confident in their ability to produce top carcass steers with an excellent rate of gain. By leaving the bulls on grass later and in the yard for a shorter time allows them to develop more naturally and be more athletic and reproductively sound instead of becoming over fat and lazy.
