Mr Colin McColl, joining the 8-12 Team, teaching Design and Technical Studies. Fiona Ward will continue as the Finance Officer for the whole year, while Helen Heron is on leave. I thank all the people who have joined our team and wish them a very positive, productive and successful year. I also take this opportunity to thank the staff and students who left our school or are on leave during 2021. We wish all these people a most successful year. In particular I thank the following: Helen Heron, who is on leave, Aleks Suljagic, who is on leave, Ros Elson, who is on leave, Sarah Agnew, who is on Maternity leave (Congratulations to Sarah & Callum, on the arrival of their son, Leo Michael Agnew, born 26.1.21) Hannah Hoepner, who has taken on a teaching contract at Balaklava High School, Cody Needham, who has taken on a teaching contract at Grant High School in Mt. Gambier. Our CREW values: CARE, RESPECT, ENTHUSIASM for LEARNING and WORKING together as a strong team, are there to guide and help us achieve our goal of improving educational outcomes for all students. I am asking every staff team member and every student to abide by the CREW values as we work together to make 2021 a rewarding and enjoyable year for all of us. I wish every member of the Cleve School community, students, staff, parents/caregivers all the best as we take on and deal with, all the challenges that 2021 will offer. We had a very smooth start to this year. At the assembly this morning, we introduced our Year 12 students, the new Reception students, new staff and students new to our school. I also talked about our CREW values. I believe the scene is set for another successful year so please work with us to ensure that Cleve Area School continues to be, “ A Great Place to Learn”. Please feel free to contact me, Trevor or any member of the Leadership Team, if you would like any further information. As I enter my eleventh year as Principal of Cleve Area School, I thank you for the support you continue to give me and for choosing Cleve AS for your children’s education. Have a great year. Ray Marino.

DEPUTY NEWS I would like to welcome everyone new and returning, to the 2021 school year. We have lots of new staff, students and families joining our school. An extra big welcome to the new receptions and their families. I saw quite a few kids this morning getting their photos taken at the front gate. It was also good to see lots of those parents then stay for the assembly where the Year 12’s presented the Reception students with their diaries. We look forward to them starting their learning journey with us and hope that they find their time with us rewarding. A reminder that in Term 1 all students are required to wear a broad brimmed hat when outside. The sun can be quite harsh at this time of the year, so we want to protect our skin as much as possible. The school does have some in the uniform shop for purchase if required. The classrooms also have sunscreen available for the students to put on. We will continue with the hygiene routines which Covid put in place for us last year. The year really did help remind us of the importance to have good hygiene practices. Please remember to sign in at the front office if you are coming onto the school grounds. There will be a Health SA QR code sign in (when it becomes available) as well as the school sign in. At this time, we are still trying to limit the number of people on site, at the start of the year while we see how the New Year settles in. We will keep you informed of any changes to this as it becomes available to us. The primary section of the school have already settled into the daily routine and the students all seem very happy to have returned. I wonder if the parents are happy as well! The primary classes are as follows: R/1 Jessica Quinn R/1 Samantha Hunt 2/3 Fiona MIllard / Amie-Lee Harris 2/3 Kirsty Elson / Amie-Lee Harris 4/5 Erin Martens 4/5 Bronwyn Smith / Lauren Hannemann (Philippa Grainger on leave in term 1) 6/7 Renee Roach 6/7 Elle Kenny If you have any queries throughout the year please Dojo, email or phone your class teacher, Ray or myself. We would prefer to know about something which is concerning you rather than not. This way we can do something about it and make it better. Hoping to see you all soon, Trevor.
