Adopt-A-Family Giving TreeDo you want to do something meaningful this Advent? The Giving Tree Ministry is in great need of volunteers to help make their program a success. Please see the table in Johnson Hall after all Masses this weekend to sign up to assist with toting donations from the church to the storage area after Mass on Sunday, or helping to pass out the gifts to the families on December 18th. The ROSARY…and thoughts about TODAY…
There is a saying that TODAY is the tomorrow that you were waiting for yesterday. All too often, one day runs into another and we feel like we are on an endless marathon of “just stuff.” The reality is that our future is “so much in the hands of God.” This was a favorite saying ofSaintTeresaofCalcutta.Quotingher:“Ifindit much more easy to accept today because yesterday is gone and tomorrow has not
come…I have only today.” She was talking to some of her sistersandconveyingthethoughtthatit’sveryeasytobebusy thinking about tomorrow when we should put all of our love and care and energy into today. Tomorrow may never come. Today is the present. There is a double meaning for the word present. For most of us, we think about it as the here and the now…the present. The more important meaning is that TODAY IS A PRESENT…A GIFT FROM GOD. When you begin each day with this thought, you are beginning your day in meditation. Time to thank God for today…time to ask Him for His help today…time to tell Him your dreams and worries for today…and most important, time to be aware that nothing is going to happen today that the two of you cannot handle. Have a good today!Remember, you and your family are always invited to take part in our weekly Rosary for Peace, every Saturday at 4:35 p.m., just before Mass.
The Knox/Licking Vocation Club is asking for donations of Snacks for the Seminarians at the Josephinum studying for their exams in December. Packaged cookies, chips, granola and candy are a few examples of what have been provided in the past. The Josephinum advises us the snacks are very much appreciated by the Seminarians! Please bring in your donations to the back of the church and place in the box that says “Seminarians” through November 27th.Thank you for your support!
CALLING ALL BAKERS – The annual Women of St. Francis “Before Christmas Bake Sale” will be held on Saturday, December 10, 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. This year, we are trying something new – The bake sale will be open to the public. To make this a success, we will need LOTS of baked goods. As we all know the St. Francis bakers are the best, so we are calling upon all the bakers in the parish to help us in this new endeavor. If you are interested, please contact Carol at 740-366-3090. As always, the proceeds from the sale will go toward the needs of the parish.
JOIN US FOR AN EVENING OF ADVENT MUSIC AND PRAYER On Sunday, December
11, at 5:00 p.m., the Parish Choir of St. Francis de Sales will once again present a special service of Advent Lessons and Carols. This service is a very moving combination of the Scriptural prophecies of Christ’s coming and thebeautiful carols of Advent, sung by choir and congregation. The service is sung by choirs of many denominations and finds its home in the English collegiate and cathedraltradition. If you did not attend last year, please consider making this service part of your preparation for Christmas – it can be a welcome moment of prayerful rest in the busy weeks of Advent. We look forward to seeing you at on December 11 at 5:00 p.m. A reception will follow.
BETHESDA HEALING MINISTRYJesus healed not only those with physical illnesses but also those with spiritual needs. One evening a woman of dubious repute, looking for Jesus, entered uninvited, the home of one of the religious leaders. Kneeling before Jesus, she knelt down, washed His feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. Jesus accepted her beautiful act of love. While others were shocked by her behavior, Jesus knew the sincerity of her heart and said “Your sins are forgiven.” (Luke 7:48) That awesome gift awaits each women seeking release from the shame and guilt of her abortion. Bethesda Healing Ministry welcomes the opportunity to support you in seeking the Sacrament of forgiveness and healing. Please call Bethesda Healing Ministry confidential lines at 614-309-2651 or 614-309-0157 or visit our website at bethesdahealing.org.Be sure to “Like” us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/BethesdaHealing.

If you cannot take the toys to the St. Vincent store, please leave them in the food pantry collection area, and we will pick them up.As with the food pantry, we want to make the thrift store a volunteer driven operation. Volunteers need only to work several hours each week or month depending on the time commitment you might want to make. Volunteering at the thrift store would make a great family project, as there are many jobs children can complete. Our goal is to start the volunteer schedule in January 2017.
