Clemson Downs is continuing care retirement community that is located in Clemson South Carolina.

The mission of the Clemson Area Retirement Center is to provide excellent services, programs, and facilities that will ensure both a quality lifestyle and a continuum of care for its residents.

Mission

At my internship I got the full experience of what it means to be a health administrator. I worked with all of departments in the administration office as well as learning from the CEO and head administration Dr. John LeHeup I also got to interact and help residents directly. I also created a movie of the WWII veterans that are residents at Clemson Downs for marketing.

Duties

At my internship I met with my preceptor everyday she told me who I would be working with and what I would have to do for the day. So every day was a different opportunity for me to learn and grow.

Day to Day Activities

Maggie Valley Trip 2015

I got to go with some of the Residents on there trip to Maggie Valley. It was a very fun trip in this picture I am with the residents before we go in to enjoy lunch

We also took the residents to the motorcycle museum Wheels Through Time located in Maggie Valley NC

I got to meet and talk with the oldest resident who is 104 and give him a gift from the Maggie Valley trip. He told stories about when he played for the Brooklyn Dodgers and I enjoyed sharing that moment with him

This is a picture of me working with Miss Davis the Administrative coordinator to put together new worker orientation packets , and learn how to do SLED background checks, and how to verify new workers.

In this picture I am working with Dr. John LeHeup he went over what DEHEC was going to be looking at when they came to inspected the new memory care building. He also gave me great insight into what it is to be a great Health care administrator

interning at Clemson Downs has been an amazing experience. I have gained professional confidence and have learned many valuable lessons for my future career in health administration. This experience has truly been one to remember!
