Cleethorpes Town has come a long way in its relatively short
history. Initially formed in 1998 as Lincolnshire Soccer School, it
was the brainchild of former Grimsby Town player Tommy Watson. The
team was an immediate success with both boys and girls across every
age group and the club began to grow quickly.
In 2003, the club set up a flagship senior team. One of the main
advantages for this side was that it would be used as an end
product for the younger teams as they could spire to one day
represent the club at the highest level possible. In the team's
first season within the LIncolnshire League they secured a credible
fourth place finish for which the foundations for the future were
set.
Now rebranded Cleethorpes Town, the club has redeveloped into an
important community outlet. With almost 30 teams competing at every
level of local and regional football, the Owls are one of the
largest clubs in the area and still continues to expand in all
areas.
The excellent array of teams and high quality coaching saw the
club awarded with Football Association Charter Standard Community
Club Status thus further underl in ing the clubs commitment to
providing high quality football coaching alongside enjoyment for
youngsters.
The development and evolution of Cleethorpes Town Football Club
has been spearheaded by the first team. With the arrival of a new
manager during the 2010-11 season it saw the club who were
languishing in the lower echelons of the Sills and Betteridge
Lincolnshire League go on to finish the season in an amazing third
place finish. In addition, the club collected the Supplementary Cup
by defeating Heckington United in the final at Sincil Bank.Keen to
build on the success in the 2011-12 season they began in sparkling
form, winning their first seven fixtures. The club went on to an
unbeaten run of 42 matches and a 4-2 victory against Skegness
United
sealed the club's first title. It was an extraordinary season in
which 130 league goals were scored in 32 matches with only 18 being
conceded. The first team were announced in the proposed
constitution of the 2012-13 Baris Northern Counties East League
adding to another exciting chapter in the history of Cleethorpes
Town football Club. The club's home, Linden Homes Club on Clee Road
is a newly renovated and modernised facility that the club are
proud to call home. However for upcoming Baris NCEL Division One
season the club will play from nearby Bradley Community
Stadium.
The club is determined to make further strides to improve and
fulfil their immediate ambition of becoming North East
Lincolnshire's most successful lower league football club.

Good afternoon to everyone and a warm welcome to the management,
players and supporters of Yorkshire Amateurs.
On Wednesday we had a short trip over to our friends at Louth
and it turned out to be a cracking game albeit slightly tarnished
by, lets say some dubious decisions by the officials for both
sides. But after a difficult first half our quality came through
and we ran out 5-1 comfortable winners. We now have another Battle
of Bradley and I am sure everyone involved is looking forward to
another great occasion.
Todays visitors are well respected in this league and after a
difficult season nearly lost them the NCEL status they have bounced
back this season and I am sure will make todays game a difficult
one and we will have to be at our very best to get a result.
Also on Wednesday our reserve side travelled to Horncastle and
came away with a fantastic 1-0 victory. This just shows the
strength in depth we have at this club and shows what a great
future we have.
We are now taking bookings for our trip to Harborough FC in the
FA Vase, if you would like to travel it is only 7.50 per person and
you can put your name down on the list at the Linden Club. Lets get
as many OWLS there and help the lads into the next round.
Hope you enjoy the game.

The season started off quite slowly but we have now built
momentum and are now unbeaten in the last seven matches in all
competitions and this is down to fitness, patience and putting away
chances that are created.
Wednesday night against Louth Town was a prime example of the
above as we gave away a sloppy goal from a corner which was not
dealt with. Our possession during the first half was poor and we
need to concentrate when we are not in possession. The game changed
at half time where fitness was a key factor and also our ball
distribution. Goals from Jack Richardson, Jonathan Ogelsby, Marc
Cooper and Lee Stephenson saw us comfortably over the line to set
up a second round tie with out closest rivals Grimsby Borough.
I am pleased with the draw for the second round as I thought we
didnt give a good account of ourselves in our 2-1 victory over them
just a few weeks ago.
It is great to see that we have three strikers all vying to be
the top goalscorer and this can only be a good thing. Marc Cooper
has just come back from injury and after scoring two goals on
Wednesday seems to have found his form again. Jonathan Ogelsby is
our man in form at the moment with all his seven goals so far this
season coming in the past six weeks. Then we have Brody Robertson
who has come on leaps and bounds since breaking into the first team
at the start of the season and with his confidence growing he will
also be a contender.
I think as long as your are honest towards the players then you
will get the best out of them, I do believe that the lads have
played well so far this season but they can get better. We will
have a tough game today against Yorkshire Amateur, especially as
their away form eclipses their home and they will be hungry for
victory after not winning a match in over a month.

The club was founded as Yorkshire Amateur A.F.C. by a local man
called Ko l in Robertson in Leeds dur ing November 1918. In those
early days, the clubs fixtures largely consisted of playing
friendlies at Elland Road following the demise of Leeds City FC, on
the orders of t h e F o o t b a l l A s s o c i a t i o n , a f t e
r irregularities were discovered in their accounts. In 1920 the
club decided that the ground was not suitable for their needs and
sold the
lease to the newly formed Leeds United AFC for the sum of
250.
The aim of the club in those days was to compete as a major
force against the professional teams playing n the north of
England. This proved not to be viable and in 1920 the club became
one of the founder members of the Yorkshire League, and played at
various grounds during this period, even sharing with Harrogate
Town at one point. The following year they became the first ever
football club from Britain to tour the Eastern European counties of
Latvia and Estonia. The club produced a number of leading amateur
international players such as Joe Woodcock who, at left back, was
the first Bradford born amateur international. In the 1930-31
season they moved to their current home of Bracken Edge.
The most successful year in the clubs history was in 1931-32;
they reached the FA Cup 1st Round going out to Carlisle United 3-1,
they reached the semi-finals of the FA Amateur Cup before going out
to Marine 2-1 and were crowned champions of the Yorkshire Football
League Division One.
For the second time in their history, the club reached the the
FA Cup 1st round, where they played Lincoln City in 1945-46.
Yorkshire Amateur pulled off a 1-0 victory against their Football
League opposition but were squashed 5-1 in the second leg, ending
their FA Cup dream.
By the late 1970s the club was at a very low ebb and a youth
policy was embarked upon with the formation of the Junior Section.
This policy has produced rich dividends in recent years with a
number of players moving on to full time professional football
including Stuart Naylor and Gary Strodder (both West Bromwich
Albion), Andy Watson (Swansea City) and Warren Ward (York City).
Yorkshire Amateur became a founder member of the Northern Counties
East League in 1982, where they still remain today.

The club is currently managed by Graham Hodder who took over
from Pete Cusic in Mach 2007. Graham who holds both FA and UEFA
coaching badges had been managing the Reserves and also Yorkshire
Amateurs U19 Academy side and was asked to take over when Pete
Cusic resigned. Pete Ryder who was Assistant Manager of the Academy
agreed to be the First team Assistant. Graham Hodder led the clubs
U17s to winning the Supreme Premier Division Championship and the
following season he led the U18s to Leeds and District Cup and
League Cup success also. Grahams first full season in charge was
very much a consolidation period as due to a lack of experiences
players he relied heavily on on the young players from the Academy
and these young men have done well in stepping up to the NCEL.
The 2007-08 season saw John Ward taking over the Academy
bringing a whole host of exciting young players with him to add to
the players already at the club. The Academy had a very good season
finishing third place in the league and having a good run in the FA
Youth Cup.
For the 2009-10 season further changes were made with the
Reserves entering the Lancashire League which was a step up in
standard of football from then league they were in previously.

Another long journey to the south of the county saw Cleethorpes
Town Under 17s progress to the next round of the Steve Asher
Memorial Charity Cup with their biggest win of the season.
Clee went into this game with plenty of confidence following
recent good performances and looked dangerous from the start. After
2 minutes Tom Wilson ran in at the far post but couldnt quiet reach
a ball that flashed across the box but the signs were there that it
wouldnt be long before Clee would open the scoring. 5 minutes into
the game it was no surprise to see the deadlock broken when Sam
Walker pushed forward to head in from close range.
Clee dominated possession and forced a number of corners and a
Will Dyas free kick was well saved by the Pointon keeper. However
constant pressure reaped its rewards on 22 minutes when Jordan
Patel and Sam Willett combined and played the ball forward to Luke
Aldrich. He ran into the box but was brought down by a mistimed
tackle and the referee had no choice but to award a penalty.
Aldrich had no hesitation in taking the penalty and placed the ball
into the bottom corner of the net with the keeper diving the wrong
way.
Sam Willett, Matty Moss and Tom Wilson were combining well down
the left hand side and after 32 minutes Wilson came in from the
left and made the score 3 0 when he side footed the ball in at the
near post. Despite this Pointon still posed a threat and won a free
quick well into Clee territory but Ben Keal was able to tip the
Pointon shot safely over the bar.
Clee continued to press forward and came close with numerous
chances and almost scored again in the final seconds of the half
when Aldrich beat the keeper, but
was denied his second goal when the ball hit the post and the
half time whistle blew.
Clee carried on in similar vain to how they finished the first
half and after 4 minutes of the restart Aldrich played the ball
through to Walker and although the shot was blocked Walker was
first to the loose ball and placed it to the left of the keeper to
make it 4 - 0.
10 minutes later Walker was through again and this time he had
time and space to calmly take the ball round the keeper and side
foot it into an empty net to get his hat-trick and make the score 5
- 0.
Pointon continued to battle but the Clee defence of Paul Blow,
Matty Russell, Patel and Willett were solid and as confidence grew
and grew in the Clee team, Patel and Blow both pushed forward and
had shots from distance.
Dyas had another excellent game in midfield and made it 6 - 0
when he received the ball just inside the box from Saxon Wraith. He
shot with his left foot and although the outstretched keeper
managed to get a hand to the ball he was only able to push it onto
the post and watch it go over the line and into the back of the
net.
Wraith, Brad Mitchell and Josh Blakey were controlling the
midfield and Pointon had few opportunities. Clee dominance was
rewarded again when Luke Mosley was played in down the right. He
brought the ball forward and unleashed a shot which beat the keeper
at the near post and made the final score 7 - 0 to Clee.
This was an excellent performance from Clee but credit to
Pointon for not giving up and a special mention to their keeper who
made some excellent saves.

Darren Hepworth has been reinstated as manager at AFC Emley just
days after he had left the club.It was announced on Friday that he
had been relieved of his duties in charge of the Toolstation NCEL
Division One side but the decision was sensationally reversed on
Sunday.A statement released from the club earlier today read: "The
events of the past few days have left everyone at the club
stunned.
Following the shock resignation by Leigh Herrick, Winterton
Rangers have moved quickly to recruit ex-Barton Town Old Boys chief
executive Paul Friskney as their new boss. After successfully
steering Winterton away from relegation last season as caretaker
manager along with Mark McDonagh, Herrick took the job full time
this season but, after only eight games into the new season, he has
had to leave the post due to personal reasons.
AFC Emley chairman John Whitehead has announced the departure of
the manager of their Toolstation NCEL Division One side, Darren
Hepworth. In a statement, he said: "By mutual consent AFC Emley
First Team Manager, Darren Hepworth, has parted company with the
club with immediate effect. The club thank Darren for his
invaluable input over the last 3 years and would wish him every
success in future ventures."

A much changed starting line-up saw Cleethorpes Town travel to
Park Avenue after winning their previous six matches in all
competitions. Second half goals from Jack Richardson, Lee
Stephenson, Jonathan Ogelsby and two from Marc Cooper rounded off a
comprehensive win over local rivals Louth Town to set up a second
round tie with ground sharers Grimsby Borough.
The match started off very tentatively with neither side willing
to give away possession in key areas of the field. This coincided
with several niggily fouls being committed by both teams.
The first chance came after nine minutes when Louth Towns
player-manager whipped in a dangerous free kick which was gaol
bound but out out by an Owls defender for a corner. The corner was
swung in from the right and eventually made its way to their number
4 who bungled the ball home from inside the six yard box much to
the disapprovement of the traveling support.
The Owls thought that they dad equalised a few minutes later
after a great move found Jack Richardson in space but he fired only
inches wide of the left hand post. Just moments later Lee
Stephenson was fouled just on the edge of the box but play was
waved on by the referee even though he had blown his whistle where
the ball fell to Jamie Osbourne with the goal gaping but he could
only side foot wide.
The next chance to equalise fell to Lee Stephenson, who after a
great ball over the top by Ricky Forrest, half vollied the ball
goalwards with Shearer-esq technique but this was just off
target.
Louth Town nearly extended their league in the 34th minute when
from another free kick form Daryl Clare was played deep and found
their number 9 in plenty of space but his header was straight at
Miles Fenty. The less than decisive first half ended just shortly
after Jamie Osbourne had a chance to equalise but could only drive
the ball wide of the mark, summing up the Owls first half
performance.
A half time substitution that replaced Jamie Osbourne with Marc
Cooper seemed to have the desired effect as the Owls started the
second half with venom and desire. The equaliser came just seven
minutes into the second half when Matthew Oswin picked up the ball
half way into his own half when he
played a delightful ball over the top for Jack Richardson to run
onto, he took it in his stride and cooly slotted home in off the
post. The Owls then took the lead just five minutes later when Lee
Stephenson linked up with Marc Cooper, with the latter cushioning
the ball back into Stephensons path for him to rival home his first
goal of the season.
Louth Towns best chance to equalise came half way through the
second half when their number 11 managed to spin away from his
marker and shoot from 20 yards but Miles Fenty in goal was at hand
to make a good save.
The Louth Town faithful were up in arms with appeals for a
penalty with just over 10 minutes to go following a foul on the
edge of the area, but the referee only pointed for a free kick and
not the desired penalty that they were hoping for. The free kick
that was then taken by Daryl Clare was powerfully driven, but over
everyones heads.
Just moments later the ball was played up field where Jack
Richardson chased a lost cause but managed to get the ball and his
shot from a very tight angle hit the upright and bounced to the
fortunate goal keeper.
The Owls extended their lead with little over six minutes of
play remaining when Jack Richardson played a ball out wide to Luke
Mascall who dinked the ball to Marc Cooper who headed home past the
static Louth Town goal keeper.
With only one minute of normal time remaining a long ball from
the Cleethorpes Town defence was missed by everybody apart from
Jonathan Ogelsby who duly collects the ball and rounds the goal
keeper to slot home his seventh goal of the season.
The scoring was complete when in injury time Luke Mascall
tricked and twisted his way past the Louth Town right back to
square the ball to Marc Cooper who slots home his second of the
evening to send the Owls into the next round of the Lincolnshire
Senior Trophy Northern Section where the Owls will face local
rivals Grimsby Borough in the #BattleOfBradley. By Craig &

The game started off very slowly with both sides canceling each
other out as it was not until the sixth minute before anything of
real note came to light. A ball was played in over the top where it
fell to Jonathan Ogelsby, a great first touch from the striker
ensured he had enough room to unleash a left footed strike which
clattered the woodwork; had it gone in it would have been ruled out
as the linesman had flagged for offside.
The first chance for Hallam came in the 11th minute when their
number seven broke the defensive line of the Owls and chased a
lofted ball through but quick thinking from Scott Drury in goal
saved the day as he came rushing out to smoother the ball.
Jonathan Ogelsby was certainly enjoying himself on the ball as
he played a wonderous cross field ball to Luke Mascall (an
identical play to the first goal against Basford United) but this
time Mascall could not control the ball.
The opening goal of the game after some great work by the Owls
down the right where a clever cross from Alex Flett was met sweetly
by Jonathan Ogelsby who side footed home his fourth goal of the
season. This first goal gave the Owls much confidence and their
second goal followed just three minutes later when Marc Cooper
flicked on a header to Brody Robertson just on the corner of the
six yard box and rifled home passed the keepers left hand from a
tight angle.
It could have been 3-0 had it not been for Brody Robertsons shoe
size, had he been just one size bigger he would have been able to
reach a wonderful cross from Jonathan Ogelsby whos left footed low
cross caught out the Hallam defence.
Hallam had the ball in the back of the net in the 23rd minute
after their number 10 poked the ball home past Scott Drury but the
linesman came to the Owls rescue as he raised his flag for
offside.
A comedy moment came next when Hallams number six was very
nearly left red faced when his thumping clearance clattered into
Brody Robertsons derrire which went just inches wide of the post
with the keeper rooted to the ground.
Hallam did manage to get a goal back before half time when in
the 37th minute their number 11 breached the high line of the Owls
defence and dinked the ball over the advancing Scott Drury, much to
his frustration. As the half time whistle blew the Owls knew that
they had to be more clinical and that Hallam had goals in them.
The second half started at a frantic pace and Luke Mascall very
nearly extended the lead when a dangerous cross was played in from
the left, but he just failed to connect his head to the ball.
Jonathan Ogelsby then had two great chances, the first came when he
picked the ball up in the channel, glided past Hallams number two
with ease, strolled into the 18 yard box but his left footed strike
went just wide of the keepers left hand post. The second
opportunity fell almost immediately
after when Danny Grant played a defence splitting ball over the
top to Ogelsby who was ready to pull the trigger when he was
tackled by Hallams number four.
Cleethorpes Town continued to apply the pressure when from a
corner their goal keeper fumbled the ba l l which landed at the
feet of central defender Richard Peck, making his 13th appearance
of the season, had a rush of blood to the head and out his foot
through the ball and straight over the fence into the car park from
only six yards out.
Further chances from Marc Cooper and Luke Mascall went begging
before captain Darren Hanslip showed them exactly how it should be
done when a corner from Jonathan Ogelsby was headed down by Lee
McFarland where it fell kindly to Hanslip to fire home his first of
the season.
The shots carried on raining down on the Hallam goal keeper and
Jonathan Ogelsby must have thought he had scored his second of the
afternoon after he worked space for himself inside the Hallam half
and unleashed a strike that appeared to be heading into the net had
it not been for a great save.
In the 76th minute Lee Stephenson was brought onto the field in
place of Marc Cooper for his first appearance of the season.
Stephenson was involved in the game very quickly an was fouled
moments after his first touch of the ball. From this free kick the
ball was played along the ground to Alex Flett who had a shot from
25 yards and this was deflected out for another Cleethorpes Town
corner. The corner was then played short in a similar style to the
free kick when again Alex Flett had a shot but this time it was
wide and a goal kick was awarded.
The Owls fourth of the afternoon and Jonathan Ogelsbys second
came in the 84th minute when Ogelsby collected the ball 40 yards
out, glided past three into the box and smashed the ball home to
the keepers right.
The Owls the continued to look for further goals with James
Osbourne, Tim Lowe and Jonathan Ogelsby all squandering chances at
the death but the fifth goal failed to arrive. As the final whistle
went the Cleethorpes Town players celebrated in the centre of the
pitch knowing that all their hard work off the field was coming
together at the right time.
The match was proudly sponsored by Pattesons Group and their
chosen Man of the Match was Jonathan Ogelsby for his outstanding
performance and his two well taken goals. A big thank you to all 74
fans who made the effort to come and watch the Owls in what was
their fifth straight victory.
