BULL WALK A ‘Bull Walk’ is being held on Monday the 18th of September at 3.00 pm – Everyone is invited. Light refreshments will be provided.
Peter & Kristine Dingle 07 41 675140 Peter, Kristine and Kristopher Dingle from Redline Brangus Stud, Eidsvold, have prepared a team of 13 Red Brangus bulls for the Classic Red Brangus Sale. Our bulls this year were chosen because of their muscling, good temperaments, efficient growth, weight for age, functionality and fertility. This is evident in their semen evaluation and scanning results.
All sale bulls are prepared in a grazing paddock where they have access to silage and are hand feed a small amount of bull maintenance pellets. Redline provides well covered bulls that are not overdone. Sale bulls are constantly handled with horses, bike and worked through our yards providing buyers with well-mannered seed stock that would suit any operation. Of the 16 bulls, most are registered with the majority of these bulls polled, providing for both stud and commercial operations.
Stephen Duff 0438 825370 The Duffs are fourth generation beef producers and one of the founders of the ‘Classic Red Brangus Sale’.
The Red Brangus stud breeders are run under commercial conditions at “Tralee” near Proston on 5,000 acres of forest country and 1,000 acres of softwood scrub. The best weaner bull calves and replacement heifers are taken to “Springvale” at Gympie. The heifers are mated, sometimes by AI, as rising two year olds before returning to Tralee. The weaner bulls run on grass with occasional supplementation until the following winter when they are prepared for sale.
The aim is to produce bulls in the six to seven frame score range with 40 to 50% Brahman content. Emphasis is placed on correct structure, heavy bone, heavy fleshing, a proper polled head and a very quiet temperament. The Duff’s believe quiet cattle not only do better but are safer and more satisfying to work with.
Jack & Mim Walker 07 49 931666 Jack and Mim Walker’s Jateebee Red Brangus is a commercially oriented stud based at Theodore where stud breeders are run alongside the family’s larger commercial herd on forest country and native pastures.
The progeny are grown out on scrub country with buffel and legume pastures, producing grass fed EU, MSA and PCAS bullocks and surplus heifers.
The focus at Jateebee is to breed thick, easy doing and finishing, fertile cattle that will suit most markets. Fertility is of utmost importance at Jateebee and cattle are regularly challenged by country type and season and selected heavily on their reproductive performance.
Gavin McKenzie 07 49 825105 The Tannyfoil Brangus Stud, founded in 1998 by Gavin McKenzie and his parents Bevan & Denise, is based at “Tannyfoil”, Blackwater. The McKenzie’s run a large commercial herd of over 2000 breeders, the majority being red, on properties in the Blackwater, Alpha and Arcadia Valley districts. Progeny and extra purchased steers are fattened off at two and a half years of age for the Jap market. A strict breeding policy concentrates on fertility and weight for age.
The stud’s role is to supply bulls for their own breeding program whilst a number are selected to sell each year. This year 12 of these bulls will be offered at the Classic Red Brangus sale.

Chadwick Downs is a family owned, business breeding beef cattle suitable to the Australian environment. Qualities of fertility, longevity, and constitution are highly prized. With just over 7000ha at Coonabarabran and Coonamble in North-West NSW, Chadwick Downs run a breeding herd of Red Brangus females, selling both bulls and females at auction and privately.
The stud came to prominence with Duarran Yackandandah, Redline Beaumont, and Chadwick Downs Red Hermes and is now producing bulls and females of exceptional quality. Red Brangus were selected for their fertility, constitution, and ability to complement existing beef herds in temperate, sub-tropical, and central Australian beef cattle areas.

Doonside is where we endeavor to replace wire-grass on tea tree, mahogany country with Pangola grass and ponded pasture. We like a challenge. The Doonside herd evolved over years in a harsh coastal environment, so buyers can be assured their purchases will grow out and do well anywhere. Some of our clients have “good” country however we can assure them that because of our extensive genetic base, the progeny of their purchases will have the required growth patterns.
Doonside bulls fit many cross-breeding programs and have been sold all over Queensland, New South Wales, The Northern Territory, and Western Australia where they have handled even the harshest conditions with the best of them.
Col, Deb, & Wes Goodwin 0429 829143
G L Brangus is a commercial/ stud cattle operation in Central Queensland run by Col, Deb, and Wes Goodwin at “Colorado”, Bluff, approximately 180 kms west of Rockhampton. As GL (Goodwin Livestock) Brangus, 120 registered cattle are run as well as 400 commercial breeders. Throughout their years of operation GL Brangus has used bulls by Sam’s Prospector, Leachman Kingdom, Leachman Robin Hood, Leachman Heavenly, and Excelsior Chieftan, amongst others.
The herd became strong with Angus genetics. Red polled, Brahman bulls with good temparament were infused back into the herd with bulls from Tartrus” at Marlborough and the Sorely family at Bell. These traits were reflected in their progeny.
Brenten & Virginia Lowe 0400 199694
BVL Brangus, (Brenten and Virginia Lowe) is based at “Waverley”, Mundubbera. Foundation females were sourced from Jateebee, carrying genetics from well-regarded herds including Duarran, Redline, Doonside, Talungra and more recently Tannyfoil. Our stud females are run on Brigalow scrub and forest country alongside our commercial Red Brangus herd.
At BVL we focus on breeding the complete package – fertile, polled, structurally correct, well-muscled, plenty of bone and great temperament – cattle that will suit the everyday commercial breeder and maximise profit. The 2-year-old bulls we proudly offer for this year’s sale are thick, growthy, healthy and READY TO WORK!
John & Nerida Allen 07 54 949088
John & Nerida Allen, with sons Angus and Sam, live on “Denbigh” near Woodford. Ten years ago they bought 100 commercial Doonside Red Brangus heifers which adapted easily to the coastal climate and mineral-deficient soils at “Denbigh”. Some registered females were later added from Duarran, Mutdawarrah, and Beannacht brangus studs.
Mawson Red Brangus has sourced registered bulls from Doonside, Redline and Duff Red Brangus. The most successful bulls have been: Doonside Budgie, Redline Deno and Duff Emu Creek. The annual A.I. Programme uses bulls including: Cadence of Brinks (carries red coat gene), Mutdawarrah Red Emperor and G.K. Xtra Flash.
Carcass Success Demonstrates Commercial Focus
Classic Red Brangus Group Chairman, Mr Peter Dingle said, our breeds recent success in major carcass competitions demonstrates our commercial focus and commitment to improving the bottom line for breeders, bullock fatteners and lot feeders.
Mr Dingle said, two of our sale group studs Tannyfoil and Jateebee have been very successful in recent competitions. Tannyfoil was the most successful exhibitor in the Brangus Carcass Competition at the Brisbane Exhibition completely dominating the section while Jateebee finished third in the Central Queensland Carcass Classic Class 10 (Pen of 100 day Grainfed). A Jateebee steer then went onto win the Champion Carcass in Class 10.
Only bulls that conform to our strict criteria can be catalogued for the Classic Red Brangus Sale. With the sale now in it’s 9th year we have enough data to measure our progress against our main competitors’ Mr Dingle said. Mr Dingle said our average sale bull last year was 26 months of age, weighed 828 kg’s with a 125 cm EMA and a scrotal circumference of 40 square cm. ‘You will go a long way to find a line of 75 bulls with that level of performance and depth of quality in any breed’, Mr Dingle said.
