CLASS OF 2019 TOP GRADUATES
In addition to our top ten graduates, we have 17 seniors with a
GPA of 90.0 or higher. They are: Olivia Begin, Daniel Blanchfield,
Shannon Brainerd, Charlotte Butz, Tommy English, Nya Keith, Bella
Korb, Brady Lybert,Max McLenithan, Jordan Moffitt, Cole Murray,
Jacob Murray, Julia Salisbury, Katie Thomas, Lizzy Townes, Tori
Vellucci, and Dominic Williams.
In the third quarter we had several students grades 7-12 achieve
either principal’s honor, high honor, or honor status. The theme
for the principal’s honor this quarter was “We’re Smart Cookies.”
Each student achieving principal’s honor status was presented a
packet of cookies. Their photo can be found on page 3 of this

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT
Congratulations to the students selected as Student of the
Quarter for the third quarter of the 2018-2019 school year. They
are (l. - r.) Max McLenithan (12), Aidan Czub (11), Charlie Dill
(10), Jessie McCauley (9), Lexi Alpy (8), Adeline Record (7)
Congratulations to Dylan Bruce for placing first at the Area III
SkillsUSA Championship in the “Action Skills” competition. The
event was held April 24-26 at the NYS Fairgrounds in Syracuse,
NY.
Dylan is enrolled in the WSWHE BOCES CTE Environmental
Conservation and Forestry program at the F. Donald Myers Education
Center in Saratoga Springs. His presentation was how to safely load
a dozer to be transported. Dylan will travel to Louisville, KY
where he will compete in the SkillsUSA National Championship June
24-28, and then return home just in time for the graduation
commencement.
Dylan is also the co-president of the FFA (Future Farmers of
America) chapter at the F. Donald Myers Education Center.
Congratulations to Autumn Headwell for being selected as one of
the AASBA’s (Adirondack Area School Board Association) scholarship
recipients. The scholarship is in the amount of $300.
Congratulations to (l. - r.) Isabella Dill, Isabella Korb, and
Max McLenithan. Their original artwork was selected for publication
in the WSWHE BOCES 33rd annual Talent Unlimited journal.
A recognition ceremony was held at SUNY Adirondack on the
evening of May 15, with all of the students’ work on exhibit. Each
student was given a copy of the journal featuring their work.
Isabella Dill’s published piece was a pencil drawn
self-portrait. Isabella Korb’s was a photograph titled “Infinite.”
Max McLenithan had two photographs “Morning Dew” and “Antique by
Default” accepted into the journal.

Services
Farm to Table Cooking (Grades 7-8) - Ms. Andrew Students will
learn to cook a variety of dishes using locally grown products.
Students will also have the opportunity to visit some of the farms
where the products are grown and/or made. Monday-ThursdayJuly

- 12 p.m. The Cambridge Floating Classroom - Mr. ButzThis outdoor
classroom opportunity will allow students to conduct real
scientific research on nearby Hedges Lake, utilizing the CCS
Floating Classroom, which is a 20 foot pontoon boat owned,
operated, and maintained by CCS. The boat is equipped with water
quality testing and underwater surveying equipment. The students
will learn the techniques of water quality analysis and underwater
exploration. Session 1 July 22 & 23; 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. Session 2
July 24 & 25; 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.
CCS Summer Archaeology Field School (Grades 9-12 &
accelerated grade 8 science students - Mr. ButzThe course provides
students the opportunity to learn archaeological fieldwork
techniques. Students will conduct archaeological field work at
local sites including Shays’ Settlement in Sandgate, VT, founded by
Captain Daniel Shays in 1787. Session 1 July 16 & 17; 8 a.m. -
3 p.m. Session 2 July 18 & 19 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Camp NaNoWriMo - Creative WritingAn opportunity for students to
write their own novels, memoirs, short stories, poetry, or
screenplays. This course covers writing elements, techniques,
mentor text study, sharing work, and publishing. Tuesdays &
Thursdays July 9 - August 151 p.m. - 3 p.m.
ENRICHMENT COURSES - SUMMER 2019Field Biology (Grades 7-12) -
Mrs. GiffordThe class will provide students with scientific field
experience in identifying species, collecting and analyzing data,
and contributing to a growing database of species identified at the
CCS biopreserve and surrounding areas. Monday - Friday July 22 -
August 211:30 a.m. 2 p.m.
The Great War, 1914-1918 - Mr. SalisburyAn opportunity for
students to dive deeper in the study of World War I, a topic with
complex causes, dramatic battles, and dire consequences. Monday -
Thursday July 15 - August 11 p.m. - 3 p.m.
Forensics - Ms. LozierStudents will be immersed in the
challenging complexities of crime scene investigation. Teams will
work together to solve the mystery of a mock crime scene by
gathering evidence, studying the clues, and analyzing data. July 16
- 18 & 23-258 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Project-Based Learning for the Real World - Mrs. Gifford
Students will identify a real world problem that they are
interested in and develop a possible solution. Researching their
topic could include examining existing information, expert
interviews, designing and constructing a model, and any other
creative means they can develop. The class will encourage
individual creativity and work, as well as work as a group to solve
problems. July 9-12 and 16-19, 10am-2pm
Why Compare Anatomy? - Mrs. GerardiHands-on opportunity to study
the similarities and differences in the anatomy of various species.
Students will dissect an earthworm, grasshopper, frog, fish,
turtle, rabbit, and fetal pig, while gaining a rudimentary
understanding of physiology. July 9-12 and 16-19, 8:30 a.m. - 11:30
a.m.
