Olivia Hayes beams joyfully on her proudest moment. Grad Bobby Stiggers with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stiggers.
The Commencement SeasonThe most important single day of the year, Graduation,
starts at 8:15 am with the lining up for the processional, and ends at 1 1:00 am with the recessional. Only three hours of a Saturday in June . . . but to a graduating senior, it is the most important after four long years ... twelve quarters. To this year's class—180 of them — it meant the "cold world," going forth into that world to make use of their education. For some of them, graduation means further study, graduate school; yet, for others, it means a duty to their country and a useless war in Viet Nam.
The '68 Commencement speaker, Dr. Fred C. Davison, president of the University of Georgia, said to the grads, "You are among the select few who have had the advan tage of a college education, and for that reason you repre sent the potential leadership of our nation and the world . .. Society has handed you a mandate to develop your maxi mum potentials ... It will fall your lot to be the pilots in our world of great change."

ltd Jf oittmrl ami < ON^nrCTlON SUNDAY, MAY 26, 1968The Atlanta Hawks announced Saturday the signing of their
second newcomer to a 1967-68 NBA contract—backline ace Mack Daughtry of Albany State College. He joins the club's top draft pick—Skip Harlicka of South Carolina—who agreed to terms a month ago.
Daughtry, a 6-3, 185-pounder, is the greatest scorer in the history of his school having tal lied 2,100 points in 111 games over a four-year stretch.
He had a 15.4 mark for 15 games as a freshman, hit for a 14.0 mark as a sophomore, had a 21.9 per game record as a junior and averaged 20.8 a game during his senior year.
He was selected to the Atlan ta Journal's Ail-Georgia collegi ate basketball team for the past two seasons and was named to several small college All-Amer
ica teams as a second team selectee.
A resident of Enigma, Ga., he played high-school basket ball at Nashville (Ga.) High, earning the name of the Nash ville Bomber.
"Daughtry is one of the finest shooters in the country," Hawks general manager Marty Blake said. "He needs experience and we plan to give him some extra work during our June rookie camp here."
"There's a good possibility that we will send him on a 36-
country toiff this summer, with the Gulf Oil team so that he can work on his passing, but we feel his outside shooting is as good as any player selected In the NBA draft," Blake said.
