The CKE800 crawler crane from KOBELCO takes advantage of new technologies to raise performance to new

Crawler Retraction to 3.39 m Designed forEasier Transport
With its crawlers retracted, the CKE800 measures just3.39 m wide for easy transport. Total transportationweight (including boom base, gantry and crawlers) is41.2 tons, complying with transport regulations inEurope and helping to reduce the number of trailersrequired.
Boom Assembly/Disassembly Mode
The boom assembly/disassembly mode, which is usedto release the over-hoist prevention function to facilitateboom assembly and disassembly, is activated with aswitch located under the multi-function LCD display ofthe load moment indicator (LMI). (This switch is differ-
ent from the switch that releases the auto-stop func-tions for over-load and hook over-hoist.) When theboom is lifted to a certain angle, it is automaticallydeactivated and the LMI function is automatically re-engaged to ensure that the boom assembly/disassem-bly function is used only when needed.
Self-Removal Device
KOBELCO has designed theCKE800 to be assembled anddisassembled without the need ofan assist crane by employing a
counterweight self-handling sys-tem. The complete crane can betransported on three trucks (eachunder 45 tons) and assembled bythree men in less than half a day.

Automatic Soft-Stop Function ReducesShocks
This function is activated automatically when boomlowering or boom hoisting is stopped by the over-loadprevention system and the over-hoist prevention sys-tem. It makes for a smooth stop and reduces danger-ous swinging of the load.
Side-Engine Layout For Easy MaintenanceA new engine layout on the side of the machine pro-vides easy access for routine inspections and servic-ing. Maintenance crews can access the entire powerplant just by opening the side door .
Super-Fine Filter, a Long-Life Filter forHydraulic Oil
Large-capacity, super-fine filter ismade of a high-performance filtermedium consisting of glass fiberreinforced with steel wires. Thereplacement cycle is extended tofour times longer than that of con-ventional filters to reduce lifelongoperating costs.
Automatic Stop Release Switch with SafetyFunction
The automatic stop system prevents over-load, hookover-hoist and boom over-hoist. To deactivate the sys-tem, a two-stage release pro-cedure is employed that usesa master key and separateswitches. This makes it easyto supervise the use of thesingle key and prevent unau-thorized release of the auto-matic stop system.

Free-fall Winch
Free-fall with Monitoring and Lock FunctionsFree-fall operations can only be initiated by releas-ing the lock using a key switch. Unless the lock isreleased, free-fall cannot occur even if the switch isput in the neutral-free position. Also, to prevent thefree-fall mode from being activated accidentallybecause of system malfunction, a monitoring func-tion monitors the free-fall clutch cylinder pressure inthe winch.
Free-fall Switch with InterlockThe free-fall switches are strategically located onthe hoist levers, allowing the operator to engage
free-fall without removing his handsfrom the control levers. To preventthe load from accidentally dropping,the interlock function makes i timpossible to initiate free-fall unlessthe foot brake is fully depressed.
To prevent the load from accidentally dropping because of operatorerror, do not use free-fall when lifting.
Swing flashers and warning buzzer warn surrounding workers when the machine is swinging.
Cameras and color monitor provide views of the rear of the machine, and the main and auxiliary winches (optional).
