Oktoberfest, Olympic Tower, “Marienplatz” and English Garden instantly make you think of Munich. In 2005, however, the Bavarian capital acquired a new landmark: the Allianz Arena, located in Fröttmaning. The stadium is among the most modern and architecturally fascinating cathedrals of football on the planet.
The Allianz Arena is the main attraction for FC Bayern München supporters; for years, almost every single game of Schweinsteiger, Ribéry and Co. has sold out. The ground’s appeal will increase even further in May 2012, when the FC Bayern Experience opens its doors. Karl Heinz-Rummenigge, Bayern’s Executive Board Chairman, described it as “the best and most innovative exhibition of a football club’s history in the world”. But this will not be an ordinary museum – the FC Bayern Experience will be an emotionally charged journey. The success story, the trophies and cups, the greatest players and the coaches, movies and anecdotes from the club’s foundation in 1900 until today will be lovingly displayed and brought to life.
TheFCBayernMünchenphenomenon:Alivingexhibition
The FC Bayern Experience will replace the “World of Brands” on the third floor of the Allianz Arena and fulfill every football fan’s needs on more than 3000 square meters. The original match ball from the 1976 European Champion Clubs’ Cup Final, the shirt of Patrik Andersson – scorer of the title-winning, last-minute goal in Hamburg in 2001 – and the golden goal-scorer „canon“ won by Mario Gomez in 2010/11 are among the exciting exhibits on show for visitors and supporters.
But there is more. FC Bayern München‘s 111-year-old history will be recounted vividly in a number of time periods. Films, photos, texts, documents, models and numerous exhibits will provide an inside view of the Bayern München phenomenon. The original board room from the club’s headquarters will be on show and almost all trophies and cups are on display in the “treasure chamber“. The “Hall of Fame” will feature world class players like Franz Beckenbauer, while the current team around team captain Philip Lahm is repre-senting FC Bayern of today. Plenty of interactive surprises await younger supporters, too: they will enjoy a multitude of modern simulations and computer applications.
Thenewmegastorecaterstoeverywishandneed
Following the FC Bayern Experience, visitors can look forward to the huge, recently expanded and modernized FC Bayern München megastore. The new shop is undoubtedly another key attraction of the Allianz Arena. The superb showroom comprises nearly 1000 square meters and features the full range of supporter products by the German record title holders – no other Bundesliga club offers such variety. More than 500 different items will ensure that there really is something for every taste.
