These calls will likely happen the after- noon of Thursday, August 26th. Some NEW TO CITY PARK families may be meeting teachers in person in lieu of a call if they choose to sign up for a tour that afternoon. If you are new, you must be signed up for a visit and you can do so HERE. If you aren’t home when we try to call, we will follow up with an email to your inbox. Be sure your information is up to date. Call 306- 683-7550 and let Sandi/Erin know if anything needs updating. The teacher phoning may be your student’s teacher, but sometimes things change so we cannot guarantee this quite yet. We will let you know what the first three school days look like for each student/family, describe how COVID protocols will look this year, explain what lunch time looks like, describe a typical day and what students need to bring to school/have access to, as well as how drop off and pick up look (or the school day begins and ends online). These phone calls were well received last year. Please note they may be short and sweet in order to connect with all families.

We have AMAZING programs at City Park School. The programming in-cludes: Ecoquest, FLEX, Montessori, and the K-8 Online Learning Centre (English and French Immersion).
Our website will continue to evolve to reflect our current state. Our staff and students have created videos to give you a little taste of our program-ming. If you are curious, take a peek at these:

Did you know that we have a Before & After School Program at City Park School? If you need care be-
fore or after our regular school hours (we do provide supervision 15 minutes before and after the bell
Typically Ecoquest hours are 8:55-3:20 with lunchtime
landing at around 11:45-12:33, however sometimes
learning opportunities present themselves at slightly
different times and therefore it isn’t unusual that these
hours organically change with reasonable warning
to our families and Ecoquesters. Sometimes students
will meet off campus in the morning as well, but
again all involved will be well-informed.
We are hopeful camps and overnight excursions will be back this year and so there will
be times where the hours are extended. Expect this to be an adventure and a very
memorable year for your learner. Also, prepare
for them to become highly independent and
confident citizens.
There is a $200 program fee (plus minimal service
fee) for Ecoquest students. This is payable in the
fall and we are able to accept credit and e-
transfers as well as cash and cheques next year.
If cost is a barrier, please connect either with one
of the teachers or your administrative team. This is kept confidential.
School Supplies and a gear list will be communicated with you from your teachers in an
email to families and again at the Parent Meeting in the fall. We do have supplies to lend
if they are not able to be borrowed or purchased and a partnership with Outer Limits that
help ensure all students can participate. Please find access to a bicycle and U lock as
they are the major mode of transportation for your child for the next year.
City Park School FLEX Program
FLEX hours can seem odd and unusual as each stu-
dent has their own schedule. We provide a blended
learning experience for our athletes, musicians and
artists who train during the school day. Each class is
set up with a Google Classroom and an incredible
staff who allow students to excel in the classroom
and pursue their out-of-school passion. All that said,
when students are not training in their activity we ex-
pect them to attend class in person. Our hours are
8:45-3:00. Our staff are proud to help offer this program to meet the needs of their stu-
dents: Ms. Kayla Fraser, Mr. Dana Lockwood and Ms. Vandersteen are slated as our
teaching team for next year. Next year, FLEX is following a Quarter/Semester Schedule
calendar found in other collegiates in our division, which will allow students to also take
any OLC (Online Learning Centre) courses they may wish to in order to compliment their
in-person FLEX classes. Students will be enrolled in 3 classes each quarter—two will end
at the quarter and one will run for two quarters or one semester. Our quarters line up with
other collegiates, however what makes us different is that we flip flop our classes day to
day so that the same courses are not offered at the same time each day and support
with a blended online classroom for 24/7 access. This helps students not miss the same
subject if they tend to miss either mornings or afternoons due to their training schedule.
Here is what the quarter calendar looks like:
Quarter 1-September 1-November 5
Quarter 2-November 9-January 28 (also end of first-semester class)
Quarter 3-February 1-April 13
Quarter 4-April 25-June 28 (also end of second-semester class)
School Supplies will be communicated to students later in August, but for the most part
consist of a binder, paper, writing tools, and some highlighters. They is no program fee for
FLEX, but some courses do have additional costs and special excursions may as well.
MONTESSORI PROGRAM
Montessori students are to attend classes from 8:55-
3:20 each day. We provide supervision at 8:40 be-
fore school and until 3:35 after school. If you re-
quire supervision outside of those hours, please
contact the Before & After School Program offered
through the Boys and Girls Club. Students cannot
be left unsupervised, however are welcome to en-
joy the playground with a parent or caregiver that is in close proximity.
Montessori students DO NOT bring any school supplies. We purchase
them as a community for the students and provide for them all year
long. We collect a $100 school supply fee (plus possible minimal service
fee) for each Montessori student. This is payable in the fall and we are
able to accept credit and e-transfers as well as cash and cheques next
year. If cost is a barrier, please connect either with one of the teachers
or your administrative team. This is kept confidential.
We also ask that you send indoor shoes for general use and Physical
Education classes. Students also need a water bottle and we ask
that they dress for the weather
each and every day. Your stu-
dent must be prepared to go
outside to learn no matter the
season. We try to get outside for learning as much as pos-
sible (it’s often the best place to learn). Therefore, unless it
is unsafe to be outside we expect the students to be
wearing proper footwear and clothing to be outside. This
includes rain (umbrellas/rain gear), shine (sunscreen/hat),
or cold (winter gear including boots).
We also offer an optional Polar Bear Club in win-
ter for those who want to enjoy winter even in in-
door recess conditions. There are very few bad
weather days—only poor clothing choices in our
opinion. Our location is THE BEST and we take ad-
vantage of our community, the city of Saskatoon,
and the outdoors often!

City Park Home & School
This dynamic, positive group is made up of City Park parents (from any and all programs-Online Elementary, FLEX, Ecoquest, and Mon-tessori) who plan fun activities and a few fundraisers to enhance the school experience for our students. This has been invaluable the past few years with such significant budget reductions. Are you interested in getting to know other parents and helping out the school? Perhaps you want to become part of this awesome volunteer group, or wouldn’t mind putting your name forward as either Treasurer or Chair? The whole Home & School team helps the Treasurer, Secretary and Chair fulfill the roles. The outgoing Treasurer and Chair are availa-ble to help with the transition. We already have a Hot Lunch Convenor and Secretary wish-ing to continue in their roles. The following roles are up for grabs: Treasurer (outgoing is still going to be a member, but can't make the meetings)-This individ-ual has signing authority and writes cheques as required. They keep track of the income generated and outgoing financial support they give. They often accept e-tranfers and help the whole parent group by attending and helping at events. Chair (outgoing is unable to continue as they are moving schools for another great program)-This individual checks the Home & School email and mailbox in the school, creates agendas for monthly meetings, facilitates the meeting, helps the whole parent group by attending and helping at events. Some events/activities the Home & School has supported include: Teacher Appreciation
Meals and Snacks (we are a bit spoiled), Fun Lunches, Farm 2 School Veggie Fundraiser,
Winter Greenery Fundraiser, Spring Plant Fundraiser, Paint Party in the Park, Funded projec-
tors in 5 classrooms, Funded Classroom Materials, Support Fieldtrips etc.
City Park SCC (School Community Council)
We are looking to ensure all of the important formal roles on our SCC
are filled and wanted to provide the opportunity for community
members or parents from any program to know what they are and
how to either self-nominate or nominate someone else. Members at
Large are very welcome!! Some events/activities the SCC have sup-
ported include: Welcome events, Math Days, Literacy Events, Arts Education Presentations, Parent
Connection Evenings, Corridor Cafés, Track Days, Marafun, Clubs and much, much more.
Chair-currently is Tanya Gokavi. She is willing to continue in this role, but others are welcome to
offer as well.
Vice-Chair-we are hopeful to have someone step up for this role just in case the Chair isn’t availa-
ble.
Secretary-currently is Janine Muyres. She is willing to continue in this role, but others are welcome
as well.
Treasurer-we are hoping to someone interested in this role for the 2021/22 school year.
*Any positions that are not acclaimed will be voted on at the AGM on September 20th at 7pm.
