    History

    The Institute of Technology and Management3

    The city Montessori school was started in the premises of itsfounder residents in Lucknow, 1959.

    Mr. Jagdish Gandhi the founder started the Pre Primary schoolas a teacher himself.

    Also Started Pre Primary teachers training college for providingquality education.

    Initially the problems faced were financial constraints and gettingstudents. It was the active support of his wife that helped him inthe task.

    By the first year 2 more branches were opened, within 5 years itwas operating 9 branches which grew to the present 20branches by 1993.

    To make students world citizens, blessed with scientific outlook.

    To impart Education of the highest standards.

    Mr. Gandhis words:

    Other convent schools providing high quality education whichwere established during the pre independence period and hadalready established a good reputation for themselves.

    A few of them are as mentioned below:

    A. St. Francis

    B. St. Marys

    C. Loretto

    Due to this competition they were apprehensive that the school

    would not be able to attract good teachers and may not beable to establish itself.

    Current branches are located only in Lucknow, however opportunities

    are there to have branches in other locations throughout Uttar

    Pradesh.

    Not seeking opportunity of opening branches outside Lucknow.

    Started with a keen interest in creating a school for the have

    nots, but now the students of this school are mainly from highincome category families.

    Grew from 2 branches to 20 branches by 1993.

    Apart from stressing on academic excellence they provideavenues for personality development through cultural activities,sports, exhibitions, camps and competitions at state andinternational levels.

    CMS has won over 5 crores as scholarship in past 5 years.

    The school had decentralized operations and centralisedadministrations.

    Had a very active inspection department.

    Highly qualified, Motivating and dedicated teachers.

    Institution maintained a policy of 15:1 student to teacher ratio inPre primary to junior high school and 10:1 student to teacherratio.

    Teachers of CMS are among the highest paid teachers in Uttar

    Pradesh.

    responsible for the success of CMS?

    The keen interest of creating a school for the have nots and

    providing high quality education.

    Highly educated, motivating and dedicated staff.

    Besides the academic competence the teachers were also evaluatedon the following qualities:A. Love for students

    The institutions policy of 15:1and 10:1 student to teach a ratio.

    Government policies here are highly favorable to the educationalinstitutions.

    The school has cordial relations with the government, Lucknow n U.Pstate authorities.

    Land is available at cheaper rates for setting up school.

    Donations made to educational institutions were tax free. The society was more intrested in getting english medium education

    for their children.

    Positive approach of taking competitors as an opportunities andlearning new things from them.

    Emphasis on high quality assurance of education. Total strength of 1600 teaching and non teaching staff to give personal

    attention and guidance to students.

    What are the challenges that CMSfaces in the future?

    Decision of not opening branches outside Lucknow limits their scopeof expansion.

    With expansion there will be difficulty in exercising control on

    management.

    It might face financial problems as they are not seeking or accepting

    any aid or assistance from the government.
