Notably, Virginia Beach was featured in top tier print and online publications The New York Times, The Local Palate, Coastal Living, The Baltimore Sun and Sport Fishing magazine. Public relations efforts continue to help elevate perceptions of Virginia Beach as a true coastal city, highlighting its key seasonal experiences, further positioning it as a year- round destination.

Chief Jim Cevera and I had the honor of attending the Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-
Fort Story change of command ceremony on Wednesday, July 13.
Capt. Daniel J. Senesky will assume
the position of commander, relieving
Capt. Frank E. Hughlett, the third
commander of the Joint
Expeditionary Base (JEB) since
February 2013. Capt. Hughlett retired
immediately following the change of
command, bringing 30 years of naval
service to a close.
The Virginia Beach Mayor's Commission on Aging (MCOA) is now accepting nominations
for its annual awards for service to seniors in the community. Every year, the MCOA recognizes
individuals and groups in the community whose service to seniors has been exceptional. This
service must extend beyond work that is required with their employment responsibilities.
Deadline for submitting nominations is Monday, Oct. 3. The awards will be presented at the
annual Senior Showcase on Wednesday, Oct. 26.

On behalf of Cox Communications and our 2400 employees in Virginia, we have some news to share.
Unfortunately, Bloomberg TV made a choice not to renew their contract with Cox; therefore, effective July 25, 2016, Bloomberg TV on channel 236 will no longer be available on Cox's channel-line up. Customers will be notified via bill message and newspaper ad.
Also, due to low viewership, ESPN College Extra on channels 601-608 will no longer be available on Cox's channel line-up effective August 30, 2016. Customers will be notified via bill message.
