In consultation with the Friends of Reserve Group and Wadandi Cultural custodians, the City is proposing to name Reserve 43008 (adjacent to the Dunsborough Library and Naturaliste Community Centre) to Quedjinmia Reserve. TOBY INLET SEDIMENT STUDY We need your help!
Catchment development, hydrological changes and a history of macroalgal blooms in Toby Inlet have led to
an accumulation of sediments in the inlet over many years. This has resulted in strong community sentiment
regarding the need to manage issues arising from sedimentation. These issues have included reduced visual
amenity, unpleasant odours, reduced on-water recreational access and impeded sh passage. A recent
community views study identied sedimentation as the primary issue of concern regarding management of
the Toby Inlet.
As part of the Revitalising Geographe Waterways program, the City of Busselton will be undertaking a study
of the sediments in Toby Inlet to provide more detailed information, informing future decisions regarding
management and/or removal of sediments from the inlet.
The City needs your help in identifying areas where sediment build-up is an issue. The information provided
will be used to identify priority areas for sampling sediments to determine composition and volume. Log in
to Your Say https://yoursay.busselton.wa.gov.au/ and tag on the mapping tool where you have noticed
sediments built-up being an issue in Toby Inlet and tell us why. Submissions close 20 October 2019.
DUNSBOROUGH TOWNSCAPE UPGRADE – STAGE 6 NATURALISTE TERRACE CBD WORKS
The City of Busselton will be undertaking Stage 6 of the Dunsborough Townscape Upgrade project within the
current nancial year. The City has developed three options for the proposed Stage 6 works to be completed
on Naturaliste Terrace in Dunsborough, between the roundabout on Dunn Bay Road/Naturaliste Terrace and
Cyrillean Way.
All three options will improve pedestrian movements between existing parking and the businesses on
Naturaliste Terrace and the upgrade of existing path areas with potential for new “green space” pockets.
Works will improve the aesthetics of the town centre in keeping with the theme and character of previous
stages.
During the works there will be some unavoidable disruption which will be minimised as far as practicably.
Appropriate trafc management will be implemented to assist whilst the construction works are undertaken.
The City’s Engineering Works and Services Team advise that the Stage 6 works are to be constructed outside
peak school and holiday periods.
Visit the City’s Your Say https://yoursay.busselton.wa.gov.au/dunsborough-stage-6 to view and comment
on the three design layout options available. The City will collate the submissions for the Stage 6 works
options to determine the nal design. The nal design may be a combination of all the options, based on the
overall submission outcomes. Closing date of submissions – 14 October 2019.
NOTICE OF ROAD CLOSUREThe Busselton Marathon will be held on Sunday 13th October 2019, starting and nishing at the Busselton Foreshore Amphitheatre. To facilitate the safe passage of runners, the following road closure will be in place between 6.30am and 1.30pm:
• Geographe Bay Road (between Foreshore Parade and Ford Road)
Road closure signs and associated detours will be in place. The City apologies for any inconvenience caused. For further information on the Busselton Marathon please refer to their websitehttp://www.r2rsports.com.au/busselton/
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR GREEN WASTE IS CLEAN WASTESpring time often means more time in the garden! When you drop your green waste off to the Busselton Transfer Station or the Dunsborough Waste Facility, it is very important that you pick out any rubbish or other contaminants. Your green waste is recycled and turned into mulch for our local farms, parks and gardens. Any contaminants such as plastic or glass, make the product less valuable and less worthy to showcase in your garden. You certainly wouldn’t want to nd these contaminants in your locally grown food either. So please, sort your waste ahead of time and use the bins provided in the green waste area.
