Day 1 Zurich – St Gallen (150 km) Collect your rental car from Zürich. The route takes you through historic Winterthur and past the Rhine Falls. Stop here for lunch before continuing to Schaffhausen with its Renaissance era architecture lining the streets. Drive along the banks of Lake Constance to St. Gallen, a historic city known as the gateway to the Appenzell Alps.Day 2 St Gallen – Davos (160 km) Your day starts with a stunning scenic drive through the rolling hills of the Appenzell region. Take a trip up to Mt. Säntis for views over the whole region! Make your way through the principality of Liechtenstein, one of Europe’s smallest countries, before returning to Switzerland. Stop off in Maienfeld for lunch and discover Heidi’s Village, the inspiration for this famous Swiss novel. In the afternoon continue to Davos, a destination renowned for its mountain holidays and sports activities. (B)Day 3 Davos – Lugano (250 km) Today’s drive takes you through the Fluela Pass of the wild and beautiful Graubünden region. Travel along the National Park border to St. Moritz and stop here for lunch. Continue along the Julier Pass through glorious scenery to the San Bernardino Pass into the Mediterranean influenced Ticino. Stop in Bellinzona in the afternoon and explore the Three Castles. Continue on to Lugano. (B)Day 4 Lugano – Zermatt/Tasch (265 km) Depart Mediterranean Ticino, heading north to cross the St. Gotthard Pass and Furka Pass before moving down to Täsch, last stop for your car before you continue on to the car free village of Zermatt. A quick train journey takes you up to Zermatt, dominated by one of the most famous peaks in the Alps, the Matterhorn. (B)

Day 5 Zermatt/Tasch – Montreux (145 km) Take time this morning to walk through Zermatt: traditional shops and wooden clad houses creating a charming place to explore. A morning trip up the exhilarating Gornergrat railway is not to be missed. Return to Täsch to collect your car, and enjoy a stunning drive up through the Valais. Enter French speaking Switzerland and arrive in Montreux, one of the most popular holiday resorts in the Lake Geneva region. (B) Day 6 Montreux – Interlaken (145 km) Take a walk along the lakeside in Montreux this morning. Drive up into the golden vineyards of the Lavaux towards Gruyères. Stop in here for lunch and perhaps take a quick detour up to Broc to explore Maison Cailler, the Swiss chocolate factory. Enter the Bernese Oberland along the Jaun Pass, then along Lake Thun you reach Interlaken, the gateway to the Jungfrau region. Take a late afternoon stroll around the town centre. Perhaps add an additional night here to travel up the Jungfraujoch or the Schilthorn. (B)Day 7 Interlaken – Lucerne (215 km) Today you have a choice of routes. Either drive via the Brunig Pass to Lucerne or with a detour via Bern through the charming Emmental region, home to the delicious Emmental cheese. Arrive in Lucerne, a romantic old town perfect for a late afternoon stroll. (B)Day 8 Lucerne – Zurich (120 km) Time permitting, explore the surrounding areas of Lucerne before driving back to Zurich to drop off your car. (B)
