Let us wind the clock back to 1947. An outstanding professional rider with 15 years of pedalling in his legs decides to bring to fruition, some of the ideas developed in his mind, during the course of many kilometres on the road. His name: Cino Cinelli. History remembers Cino less for his racing career, but more for his design innovations. Cino gave modern cycling the first aluminium handlebars, the first saddle with a plastic core, the first pedal straps and the first quick release pedals.

Thirty years went by and in 1978 Cino handed the company over to a young industrialist, a leader in the field of steel tubing, with a love of cycling: Antonio Colombo. With this change of leadership the Cinelli brand was transformed. Antonio instigated a series of collaborations with artists, making Cinelli the first brand to take a passion for art and integrate this into the world of bicycles. Over the years the company has collaborated with the world’s leading designers and artists: from the Laser by Keith Haring to the Cinelli logo designed by Italo Lupi, to the current limited-edition Supercorsa by Barry McGee, and Mike Giant accessories. The Mega Headtube steering column 1-1/8” – 1-1/4”, has been designed according to the 60/40 ratio-standard between the down tube and the top tube.

This improves tube interaction, taking stresses away from the down tube, in conditions of high frontal fork strain, such as in sudden braking at high speed. Steering control is significantly improved, also thanks to the profiled curvature of the new bespoke Columbus monocoque fork blades.

MEGA TAPERED HEAD TUBE & BESPOKE FORK

The saddle joint is one of the outstanding characteristics of the VBO frame, the point at which most of the rider’s weight is transferred and where road vibrations are transmitted most strongly. To minimise these vibrations Cinelli have created a special transition zone, slimming the rear seat stays to make them more vertically flexible and seamlessly connecting the seat stays and top tube. This means that vibrations from the rear wheel are dispersed along the horizontal and vertical tubes, instead of being transmitted to the seatpost and therefore the rider. The choice of a 27.2 mm diameter seatpost also increases the vibration dampening effect.

NO VIBRATION TRANSMISSION

Pure racing geometry and full internal cable routing means the VBO is ready for mechanical or electronic components (born to be wired). The bottom bracket allows easy cable routing, completely concealed, improving the looks of the bicycle and significantly reducing aerodynamic resistance. The oversized construction of the bottom bracket housing and the right chainstay increases the lateral stiffness of the frame, considerably improving pedalling efficiency. The left chainstay is designed for easy mounting of an electronic groupset’s external battery.

NEMO TIGSteel is back! This competition frame is hand made in Italy with the legendary Columbus Spirit triple butted tubes. The Tig welding technique used increases the stiffness of the frame. The Nemo lugged sleeve with integrated seat clamp connects the top tube and seat tube to the rear stays for better stress distribution and resistance in the frame.

Driven by speed and competition, the Strato Faster has taken professional international racers to countless victories, with its aggressive, compact, criterium geometry. The Strato’s monocoque construction from Columbus T700 Aeronautical carbon fibre makes the frame ultra-lightweight at only 980g. The rounded profile square tubing is exclusive to this model.

Elements of the Strato’s geometry have been especially tailored to improve responsiveness, including the reactive seat tube angles and hi-cornering raised bottom bracket. The rear stays have been redesigned to shorten the wheelbase and increase the seat and head tube angles. The bottom bracket height has also been raised a few crucial millimetres to obtain a frame suitable for circuit and criterium races, where responsiveness and speed are vital. The reactive angles on this frame are the key to its explosive acceleration.

SAETTA RADICAL PLUSAfter several years of development, now in its third iteration, the Saetta Radical Plus is the epitome of understated luxury, with its sleek lines. It is named after the Italian translation of “bolt of lightning”.

LASER MIAThe Cinelli Laser is an icon of bicycle design. Originally created in 1980, the Laser was something altogether radical, and represented Cinelli’s new total approach to design, spearheaded by Antonio Colombo. The Laser pioneered the use of TIG welding in bicycle frames, eliminating the need for lugs. The Laser enabled athletes to win 28 gold medals at Olympic Games and World Championship events.

The Laser Mia is now a carbon jewel in Cinelli’s crown, a creation, reimagined for the modern era. Each Laser frame is hand built to order in Italy, through a sophisticated wrapping and post-curing technique. This creates a frame that weighs just 890g, with every detail exuding precision and craftsmanship. The frame is complemented by full internal cable routing suitable for both mechanical and electronic groupsets.

The Laser Mia has classic geometry, with sizes from 48 to 62cm in 1cm increments.

Team Laser worked specifically to develop this project, maintaining the concepts and iconic elements that made the glorious steel version, now using modern technologies in order to make it available in carbon fibre.

The famous lower fin of the bottom bracket, together with the reduced sized middle sections of tubes increase the aerodynamics of the frame. The offset seat tube to the centre of the bottom bracket shell, allows the shortening the rear stays, making a finished build with this frame very snappy and responsive.

ICONIC ELEMENTS

An anodized CNC machined aluminium plate positioned under the fin of the bottom bracket allows easy access for routing the shifter cables.

The rear CNC machined aluminium interchangeable dropouts sandwich a central carbon section fully integrated in the rear stays.

HISTORY

Between 1981 and 1991, 300 Laser frames were hand built by

Andrea Pesenti. More than 100 of these frames were built for

professional athletes at the request of national federations. The

Laser Mia still bears Pesenti’s signature on the inside of the

chainstay. He has been forever nicknamed “Laserman” .

XCRThe XCR is a shining example of the craftsmanship of the frames produced by Cinelli, made with the best materials and the highest technological quality. XCR is a seamless biphasic stainless steel tube, allowing the construction of a light, durable frame. The exclusive microscopic structure of XCR tubing has a particular elastic response, for unique handling that creates a more direct, spontaneous bond with the road, especially in downhill stretches at high speeds. XCR also has a better weight/stiffness ratio when compared to aluminium and titanium alloys used to make bicycle frames.

MASH PARALLAXFollowing years of testing collaboration with the MASH San Francisco team in the most challenging criterium races, Cinelli have designed the stunning MASH Parallax Cyanotype.

The frame is constructed from Columbus Airplane tubing with variable thickness for improved aerodynamics; the Parallax is designed to be FAST.

It has been described as a thoroughbred racehorse waiting to be tamed, with aggressive geometry including sprint specific angles, shorter seat stays and a 28mm rake fork. This gives the Parallax explosive acceleration and keen responsiveness. The custom paintwork designed by MASH rider & graphic designer Garrett Chow, is complemented by ultra-smooth welding at the joints of the frame.

MASH WORKThis Columbus steel frame was developed in close partnership with the cult racer, bike messenger and adventurer Chas Christiansen. Chas travels extensively as well as racing alleycats, criteriums and cyclocross events. Chas set Cinelli the challenge to create a frame that could service all of these diverse needs, so the MASH Work was born.

The geometry of the MASH Work is aggressive by nature. A high bottom bracket gives additional clearance for fast cornering.

The frame also has removable canti-lever brake studs, so the bike can be ridden as a clean fixed gear or single speed with brakes.

MASH rider & graphic designer Garrett Chow took inspiration from Cinelli & Columbus’s historic logo designs and remixed them with MASH artwork to create opulent & timeless details to adorn the frame.

VIGORELLINamed after the famous Velodrome in Milan, the Vigorelli carries with it the sprit of the magical wooden boarded ellipse: “ellisse magica” and the ghosts of past hour records and world cycling championships.

As ridden by the renowned Cinelli Chrome team, the Vigorelli is adorned with the same bold geometric colours as seen on the team’s kit.

Constructed from Columbus Airplane tubing, the frame has been modified to give the rider immediate benefits. Features include a no-flex down tube as well as a conical seat tube, which has a larger diameter at the bottom bracket area. These modifications dramatically increase stiffness and pedalling efficiency. The premium Columbus Pista Leggera fork has a brand new tapered design for improved control.

GAZZETTAPerfect for both urban pistards as well as the most ambitious commuters. The classic geometry and traditional diameter tubing will appeal to those purists who want the best elements of the past updated and improved for the present.

The tubing of the frame is micro TIG welded for strength and an attractive finish. The matt/gloss black finish is designed not simply to be minimal, but to allow the rider to customise their Gazzetta in an infinite amount of ways. The flip-flop hub gives the option to run a freewheel and the bike is supplied with front and rear brakes as standard.

The Zydeco is a blend of tough gravel bike, fast cross-racer and versatile commuter all in one attention-grabbing package. HOBOOTLEGIts name is HoBootleg, it’s the bicycle that didn’t exist. The HoBootleg of today has 24,000km of competition and development within its wheels, including two Tours d’Afrique. These epic adventures across all types of terrain helped to shape and inspire the unique characteristics of the HoBootleg: strength, comfort, lightness, perfecting a fine blend of cyclocross and touring machine.

The frame and fork are constructed from Columbus triple butted Cromor steel with a special protective paint treatment inside and outside the tubes for total protection against corrosion & extreme reliability. Cromor is a triple-butted tubeset, thicker and tougher on the edges, thinner and lighter in the central areas.

Clearance for mudguards and tyres up to 42mm will allow you to tackle any terrain with confidence. The Shimano Deore 9-speed groupset will help you easily overcome the steepest climbs.

During adventure you must expect the unexpected! That’s why we designed all the parts and components in order to be replaceable! A non-integrated 1-1/8” headset ensures the maximum interchangeability as well as the non-integrated seat-clamp does. Never stop even if you get a wheel damaged! An additional-spoke holder is integrated on the right chainstay of the frame, which also performs as chainstay protection.

GAZZETTA DELLA STRADAInspired by the heroic days of cycling in the 1950’s the Gazzetta Della Strada is reminiscent of a time when road racing still meant, potentially, unsurfaced roads and gravelly climbs.

The Gazzetta Della Strada gives the contemporary rider stable handling and clearance for mudguards, whilst maintaining a short enough wheelbase for immediate response in accelerations, an all-together lively riding experience.

The bike has rapidly achieved the status of a true cult bicycle. The front carrier rack is very useful for a small backpack or handbag. The pedals are dual function, with clips on one side and practical rubber treads on the other side, for safe use with regular footwear.

Whilst the bike itself has a traditional look, the geometry is more modern, with a semi-sloping top tube adding comfort.
