CIDC – Activities:
No Dig India Show, 2018: Advancing Trenchless
Standardization
Indian Society for Trenchless Technology (INDSTT) organized its flagship annual events “No Dig
India Show” International Conference and Exhibition on Advancing Trenchless Standardization on
14th and 15th December at CIDCO Exhibition Centre, Vashi, Navi Mumbai. The theme of this year’s
event was Advancing Trenchless Standardization.
The show was inaugurated with a big bang in a glittering function by Dr. P.R. Swarup, Chairman,
IndSTT. Mr. Chandu Sambasiva Rao, Member RERA, Andhra Pradesh was chief guest on this
occasion. The inaugural session was addressed by Mr. Vidyadhar Vengurlekar, Charted Engineer,
NJS Engineers India Pvt. Ltd., Dr. Mo. Ehsani, QuakeWrap, Arizona University, Arizo-na, Mr. Glenn
Halstead, Managing Director, Digital Control Incorporation, USA and Mr. Jiang Zhi Guang, Managing
Director, Jiangsu Dilong Heavy Machinery Co. Ltd.
After the inaugural session, two-day exhibition and technical sessions started. There were 12
technical session organized to discuss the challenges and opportunities of the technology and also

about the latest available technology.
The show was attended by over 1000
delegates of the Industry. These
delegates took an account of new
tools, equipment and latest technology
of trenchless engineering. This is the
first time IndSTT organized this event
in the western part of the country to
promote trenchless Technology in
other regions of the country too.
The Exhibition was a great success
wherein 95 stands & open display
space of various Trenchless equipment and products were displayed by the exhibitors. Total of
twenty-five HDD rigs were put on live demonstration by the exhibitors along with live demonstration
of other trenchless equipment. The exhibition was visited by numbers of visitors who got
the first -hand information and feel of the various Trenchless equipment and their usage.
The distinguished speakers of different session in “No Dig India Show” were Dr. Mohammad Najafi,
Director, CUIRE, Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, The University of Texas, Arlington,
USA, Mr. Hans Jürgen König, Director, Asia Pacific, Saertex multicom, Mr. Sean Lim, General
Manager, Sekisui Singapore Pte Ltd., Dr. Heinz Plum, Managing Director, Bohrtec GmbH, Dr.
Sanjay Rana, Managing Director, Parsan Overseas (P) Ltd, Dr. Niranjan Swarup, Director General,

CIDC to set up skill Training Centre at Guntur
Giving a fillip to employment generation in engineering stream, CIDC is setting up a training centre
at Vasireddy Venkatadri Institute of Technology (VVIT) near Nambur in Guntur district of Andhra
Pradesh.
In this regard CIDC signed a Memorandum of understanding (MoU) with VVIT on 6th December,
2018. Dr. P.R. Swarup DG, CIDC and Vasireddy Vidyasagar, Chairman, VVIT signed the MoU on
behalf of their respective
organisation. Dr. Y Mallikharajuna
Reddy, Principal VVIT and Smt.
Mullapudi Renuka, Director, APRERA
were also present on this occasion.
CIDC opted for VVIT to locate it’s
training centre after inspecting the
available infrastructure in the college.

required skilled candidates but is
struggling to get quality personnel. He
said providing skill development
training to the youth would help the market to get the best candidates.
He said the skill development training would be a joint initiative of the Andhra Pradesh government,
CIDC and VVIT. Andhra Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (AP RERA) governing council
member Dr. Chandu Sambasivudu said the chief minister sh. N Chandrababu Naidu is very
particular about providing skill development training to unemployed youths.
He said they have started special programmes for the youth at the time of pursuing professional
courses in order to make the job fit by the time they passed out of the college with degree.

11th CIDC Vishwakarma Awards – Quick roundup
The final extension for submission of applications for
11th CIDC Vishwakarma Awards has come to a
close on 15th of December 2018 and drew
enthusiastic response for across the country.
Scrutiny for the applications has happened and 25
teams of two evaluators are criss-crossing the nation
since end October to visit project sites and interact
with management of various organizations to
Management Interactions complete the due diligence process for the awards.
Till date we have completed 56% of the site visits / management interactions and the balance are
scheduled to be completed in time for the Jury meetings to be convened in February 2019 for
preparation of the Awardee Lists.
As a departure from the past, this year onwards, the screening tests for the Artisans and Supervisors
are being conducted at their respective work sites / clusters and teams of expert trainers / testers
will start moving in the field to complete the assessments in January 2019.
The Jury review meeting was held on 3rd December 2018 at New Delhi to review the progress and
take stock of the program preparedness. The Jury congratulated CIDC Team VKA for deftly handling
the challenges and their strict adherence to the award activities and timelines.
Based on the feedback from applicants and complexities in the logistics involved, the regional
ceremonies scheduled for Bhubaneshwar and
Nagpur have been withdrawn. A singular ceremony
like previous years will be held at New Delhi on 7th
March 2019 to honour the awardees.
This being the premier award for the industry, the
competition particularly is stiff two hotly contested
categories of Best projects and Achievement award
for Health Safety and Environment (HSE) which has
seen participation of projects from all leading construction Site Interactions
companies. Being the only award that focuses on honouring the unsung heroes – the grass root
construction workers, the brochure tag line also encourages participation of Women in Construction
by its tag line “Women are encouraged to apply”.

Centre’s corner
VKP, Faridabad: Industrial internship programme for
B.Tech
A batch of 14 students of B Tech Civil from CV Raman College of Engineering, Bhubaneswar,
Odisha came to CIDC’s training centre Vishwakarma Pratham at Faridabad on 3rd December
2018. They joined our Six Months Industrial internship Programme. They will be given one-
month training, mainly focusing on practical, hands on, higher component of theoretical training,
latest tools, plant & equipment, safety health & environment, soft skills, ancillary knowledge
followed by site visits.
To start with they have to construct a wall with cement mortar. They had to do the measurement
& layout, foundation excavation, brick work in sub-structure & super structure. They also have
to do plastering, welding, bar-bending with their hands to fully understand the process and
calculate the productivity maintaining safety & quality. They have to survey the area using Total
Station which they had not used earlier. They will also be taken to working sites of Shapoorji
Pallonji at Pragati Maidan to give them exposer of actual working conditions and understand
the expectations of the employers. It gave them immense confidence and made them look
forward to the real world of construction.

AAI New Batch
AAI, 7th batch was inaugurated on 20th December, 2018. Kit bags, study material and safety kits
were distributing by Dr. Shuchita Kumar, Director (Projects). Prof. (Er.) B R Chauahn, Er. Vijay
Singh, Mr. S N Singh & Mr. S K Singh were also present on this occasion.
Training of Trainers Program (TOT)
To upgrade the knowledge & skill of our training staff of different training centers. CIDC
organized a 6 days TOT program where the Trainers were taught about latest tools and technics
of the construction industry, modern plants and equipment, new safety, health & environment
standard, new and latest building materials and Laboratory techniques and hands on practice
followed by site visit at RMC plant. On the successful completion of the program all participants
get their certificates from DG Sir.

Gorakhpur: Talent Search Competition 2018 For last five years, Construction
Industry Development Council (CIDC)
and Vikas Institute of Engineering &
Technology (VIET), Gorakhpur are
jointly organizing a “Talent Search
Competition” for the students of
around 200 schools and colleges of 10
major districts of eastern UP. Main
objective of this yearly event is to gauge
the engineering and scientific aptitude
of the higher secondary students and to appreciate and encourage their talent. The competition
is conducted in two levels, junior level for class 10th students and senior level for class 12th
students.
This time the ‘’Talent Search Competition was organized on 23rd December. More than 2000
students from around 125 schools and colleges from ten major districts of eastern UP
participated in this competition. Members from the respected educational community like
Principals and teachers of different colleges were made observer for this competition. At senior
level first prize winner will get Rs 15,000, second prize winner will get Rs 7,500 and the third
prize winner will receive Rs 5,000. At junior level first prize winner will receives Rs 7,500, second
prize winner will get Rs. 5000 and the third prize winner will get Rs. 2,500.
In both category 25 participants each will receive Rs. 500 as consolation prize. All these prizes
will

accompanied by the certificate also.
Winners of this talent search competition will be awarded in a glittering event organized in
January, 2019 at VIET, Gorakhpur.

In this regard CIDC, Gorakhpur organized a campus placement meet on 08th Dec, 2018 for Vikas
Buildtech Pvt. Ltd. Mr Niraj Kumar, General Manager, Vikas Buildtech Pvt. Ltd. interacted with
students and selected 13 trainees who got an employment opportunity with the company.
VKT, Dhaulana, Ghaziabad: Campus Recruitment Drive
L&W Construction Pvt Ltd organised a campus recruitment drive at VKT Dhaulana on 3rd
December, 2018 where 75 trainees selected by the company officials and they got an
opportunity to work with

the company. Total 109 trainees participated in this interview. An orientation session also
organized by the company prior to this interview. Where, company y’s H R manager Shri
Narendra Saini interacted with the students. After this orientation session company’s official
took a formal interview to induct eligible candidates.
Other Placement
❖ Six students of land survey trade got selected by the Ridings Consulting Engineers India
Ltd, Noida for their project. These students will get an annual package of Rs. 1.5 lakh approx.
❖ Four students of BMLT trade selected by the Apco Infratech, Haryana for their project in
Andhra Pradesh. These students were offered an annual salary of Rs. 1.20 Lakh with
boarding and lodging free.
❖ 17 students of electrician trade joined Lumax Industries Ltd, Maharashtra for their project
located at Bawal in Haryana. They were offered an annual salary package of Rs. One Lakh
with free boarding and lodging facility.

Health check-up Camp
CIDC is not an organisation only but a family too. We just don’t work together but we support,
take care and respect each other as family members. Students and trainees are an integral part
of this family. So, like any family we too
give top priority to the health of our
family members. To monitor the health
of trainees at a regular interval, we
organise health check - up camp time to
time at our training centres. In this
regard VKT Dhaulana centre organised
a health check - up camp on 22nd
December. The doctors and
paramedical staffs from Dhaulana Govt.
hospital conducted this health check -
up camp.
In house sports activity
CIDC take care of their trainees and students as a family member. So, CIDC focus in overall
development of their students, So, every centres organise in house sports and cultural activities
at a regular interval. In this regard an in house games competition was organised at Dhaulana
centre on 10th December’18. A prize distribution ceremony was also organized to reward the
winners.

Visits
CIDC Internship Program for engineering students is now very popular and point of discussion
among the engineering students. To gauge the preparation and facility people from different
engineering collages come here regularly. In this regard Head of the Department of Civil
Engineering of Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College, Ghaziabad Prof K. Kamal visited VKT,
Dhaulana on 6th December.
Sidhauli, Sitapur
CIDC believes in repaying to the country and society. We received so much from our country
and society and build up our self but there are fellow citizens who are left behind and it is
every country men’s duty to contribute towards society.
Keeping this tradition CIDC is busy in Holistic Development of Human Resource in
construction Industry. Besides, we with our partner organisation do various activities for
the weaker section of the Society. Recently we made community toilets in Sidhauli, Sitapur
and handed over it to the society.

Golaghat: Khumtai MLA Mrinal Saikia visited CIDC Centre
Mr. Mrinal Sakia, the BJP MLA from Khumtai visited CIDC Golaghat training centre at Golaghat
Engineering College Campus. and given some comments on 28.12.2018. Mr. Saikia somehow came
to know about AAI- CIDC Skill Development programme for North east. So he came to see more
about the programme.
He came to see the facility and to understand the process and how CIDC is showing pathway to
come out of poverty to the common man. Mr. Saikia interacted with the students and faculty and
very much impressed with our programme. He appreciated the efforts of CIDC and assured to take
care of any hurdles for this programme.

Christmas celebration
CIDC work constantly for the promotion of equality among all and believes in respecting
everyone irrespective of their cast or religion. CIDC celebrates all festivals with the same
enthusiasm and vigour. This year Christmas was celebrated in a vibrant environment at all
training centres of CIDC on 25th Dec, 2018.
Christmas is for the joy, for giving and sharing, for laughter and to promote togetherness.
Gorakhpur centre organized a cultural event, where students depict a story about ‘The Birth of
Jesus’ which had a fusion of songs and dances. At the end of the program Santa Clause arrived
and filled the entire crowd with joy and happiness. The delightful celebrations included various
activities. All the trainees enjoyed the beats of “Jingle Bells.” Cakes and sweets were
distributed to all.

Swachhata Abhiyan
Personal hygiene and cleanliness is an integral part of the CIDC Holistic Human Resource
Development Programme. We believe that cleanliness and making Swachchh Bharat Abhiyan
need a behaviour change in country folks. CIDC developed this habits among all the participants
of CIDC run programme.
On every Saturday our students/trainees organise cleanliness drive in surrounding areas of the
training Centres. Many visiting VIPs have noticed it and appreciated our efforts.
