We will cancel our meetings or project day if Hall County schools cancels school. We do this for two reasons; first if the roads are too icy for the buses to drive safe, its too icy for our members to drive, also the church also closes when the school district closes, so we won’t have access to the building. You can listen to WSB TV for school closings, or go to Hallco.com. We will also make every effort to post on HCQG.com and our Facebook page if we cancel a meeting. Severe weather plan It’s a New Year! Time to start a new quilt kit for Eagle Ranch! Remember every member needs to complete a Eagle Ranch quilt annually. This would be a great project to work on during the retreat. Stop by the Eagle Ranch table to pick out your kit! This would be a great project to work on during the retreat. When you pick up your new kit, read your instructions all the way through. All kits should finish close to 60” wide by 72” long. We usually include a picture to go by, but the kit may not be the same amount of blocks. Read your instructions. Remember to open your seams as much as you can to help the Longarmer quilt your quilt! Thanks and have a great time!! Jenny Grandfield Don’t forget to get your quilt kit.

Hall County Quilt GuildMeeting MinutesJanuary 9, 2019
President Roxan Brown opened the meeting and told us about upcoming quilt shows in our area. A correction to the December minutes was approved. The new budget was also approved. Roxan then introduced a small quilt bee of our members who presented the program: Nancy Lawrence, Barbara Wyatt, Julie Monroe, Ruth Matthews, Barbara Coates, Martha Vandenbossche, Rose King and Linda O’Donnell. They showed a lot of quilts and talked about different methods of quilting from using templates to modern confetti quilts. After a brief refreshment break, Roxan introduced Linda O’Donell who reported on the nominees for next year’s officers:
Presidents Jenny Thomas and Margaret JohnsonSecretary, Julie MonroeTreasurer, Sally Zook
Chris Anderson moved that these nominees be accepted and Frances Brooks seconded the motion which was approved. Membership Chairman, Charlotte Payne, said we had 55 members present of a total membership of 87, and we had one visitor. Refreshment Chairman, Rose King, reported that we have plenty of volunteers for refreshments at the present time. Our Community Service Chair, Laura Nagy, has just delivered lots of tote bags and pillows for cancer patients made by our members. She said they were much appreciated so we should keep making them! Jenny Grandfield said we have lots of kits available for making Eagle Ranch quilts. Peggy Johnson told us about the March speaker, Candace Hansen. Candace has designed quilts that were featured in magazines such as McCall’s Quilting. Her program is titled “Inspiration”. Chris Anderson said that Quit Retreat plans are going well and the retreat is full at the moment. She also has dog bed covers for anyone who wants to fill them, Christine Pierson said that Project Day will be on January 21. The meeting ended with “Show and Tell” and a Raffle. Remember that dues will be due in March.
HCQG meetings are on the FIRST Monday of each month unless that day is a holiday (then the meeting is the second Monday of the month)Social Hour is at 9:30 a.m. and the meeting starts at 10:00 Project Day is held THIRD Monday of each month at the church at 10:00 a.m. bring anything you are working on as well as a dish to share (or just bring your own lunch if that works better for you).
