Reverend Steve Ottley District Superintendent
Dear Canada Central District Family,
Things are different this year. This would have been our 85th
gathering for the Annual Assembly of the Canada Central District
Church of the Nazarene. Of course, the Covid-19 Pandemic has
changed much of life. The good news is, God is still at work in and
through the Church of Jesus Christ. My prayer is that though we
gather virtually, the Holy Spirit will visit us, stirring our
hearts for lost people and empowering us to evangelistic action –
bringing the Gospel to the 14 million residents of our province. If
there was ever a time the message of hope is needed in Ontario, it
is now. God has placed us in the communities we find ourselves for
such a time as this.
We are thankful for our General Superintendent, Dr. David Graves
and his wife, Sharon. This is Dr. Graves first of a two-year
jurisdictional responsibility to Canada. We are blessed to have
them and look forward to the opportunities we will have together
over these next two years.
We are also thankful for our National Director, Dr. Ian
Fitzpatrick, and his effective leadership.
Thanks to the Family Reunion Planning Committee for their
preliminary work in planning the 2020 Reunion. Thanks also to Rev.
Nick Stavropoulos and the Toronto Rosewood Church for their
willingness to host the Reunion. Although the In-Person Reunion had
to be canceled, their good work is in place for next year.
Committee Members: Bev Crossley (NMI President), Greta Miller
(Rosewood Missional Outreach), Rev. Lisa Outar (Rosewood Associate
Pastor), Roy Singh (Rosewood Facility), Marg Stahlbaum (NYI
President), Cindy Stavropoulos (Rosewood Youth Director/SDMI
Chair).
Our District Secretary, Rev. Frank Chouinard, and our District
Administrative Assistant, Pat Fitzpatrick, have been invaluable in
coordinating the reporting and publishing of all materials for the
2019-2020 Church Year. We’re grateful for the many hours Rev.
Chouinard spent working with the app developer to have our new
District App ready. Thank you both for your good work.
Thanks to you, Canada Central District Family for the investment
of your time in faithful ministry in your local church. May God
bless your efforts and make them produce much fruit.
Sincerely, Reverend Steve Ottley

District Superintendent ReportGeneral Superintendent, Dr. David
Graves; National Director, Dr. Ian Fitzpatrick; Pastors, Delegates
and friends of
this 85 Annual Assembly of the Canada Central District Church of
the Nazarene.
It is my honour to present to you this, my 3 report as District
Superintendent of this great and diverse district. It
is a joy to serve the Lord and His Church in this capacity.
The Canada Central District, Church of the Nazarene, has a
future filled with hope and missional vitality. I
continue to believe that if our Local Churches are to thrive, we
need to:
Harness the Harness the WisdomWisdom, , ExperienceExperience and
and ResourcesResources in the Church to Raise Up the Next Spirit
Filled in the Church to Raise Up the Next Spirit Filled
LeadersLeaders
Let me share as I did last year, that those words are chosen
with purpose.
· We need to harness the wisdom and experience of those who have
been around the church and journeying
in their faith walk for years. They have much to offer in the
mission of the church. We dare not sideline any age
demographics in the church.
· We need to harness the resources in the church and invest them
wisely in the mission of the church.
· We need to use that wisdom, that experience, and those
resources to call out, prepare, mentor, and release
the next Spirit Filled Leaders into the churches of this Canada
Central District in a way that will impact their
generation and the generations to come.
The Mission of the ChurchJesus Himself was the one who gave the
Church its mission. He gave it first to His disciples, the first
expression
of the Church, as He commanded them to…
…go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father and the Son and the HolySpirit. Teach these new
disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of
this: I am withyou always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew
28:19-20 (NLT2) Matthew 28:19-20 (NLT2)
MAKING CHRISTLIKE DISCIPLES IN THE NATIONSMAKING CHRISTLIKE
DISCIPLES IN THE NATIONS
Our Global Church of the Nazarenes can be described by 7
characteristics as we work to carry out that mission:
1. Meaningful Worship
2. Theological Coherence
3. Passionate Evangelism
4. Intentional Discipleship
5. Church Development
6. Transformational Leadership
th

-
7. Purposeful Compassion
While the above outlines the mission of the Church, and
characteristics of the Church of the Nazarene, we need
to ensure we carry out that mission and develop those
characteristics by fostering the kind of environment
described in both the Old and New Testaments.
God, through His servant Moses, says to His people:
Deuteronomy 11:19 (NLT2)Deuteronomy 11:19 (NLT2)
Teach them to your children. Talk about them when you are at
home and when you are on the road, when youare going to bed and
when you are getting up.
Paul, says to young Timothy:
2 Timothy 2:2 (NLT2)2 Timothy 2:2 (NLT2)
You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many
reliable witnesses. Now teach these truthsto other trustworthy
people who will be able to pass them on to others.
I am committed to leading us towards this vision of raising up
the next generation of leaders who are filled with
the transformational power of the Holy Spirit. However, this is
not a vision that can be accomplished alone. God
has blessed me with a tremendous team of people who surround me
with love, prayer, wisdom, experience,
and action:
My FamilyI thank God for my wife, Pat and our children: Nicole,
Shauna, and Dylan. I am a blessed man with a wife who is
my best friend and partner in the ministry. Carrying out the
ministry responsibilities God has called me to, is
made more effective knowing I have the full support of Pat and
the kids. For this I am grateful.
Our Pastoral TeamI am grateful for the faithful service of
pastors – Women and Men who have answered the call of God to
vocational ministry. We are blessed to have a tremendous team of
Spirit filled leaders, leading our
congregations in Ontario. We praise God for each of you.
People of Canada Central District, I encourage you to often show
appreciation to your pastor. Pastors, thank
you for leading the people of God in your congregations – for
carrying out their duties as prophet, priest, and
shepherd. During the latter part of this church year, our
pastor’s stress level, creativity and especially their faith,
has been tested. They have remained faithful to the ministry God
called them to, during a time that has been like
none we’ve ever been through before.
THANK YOU, PASTORS!
The District TeamThere are many others who form the team as we
carry out the mission of the Church. I want to take this
opportunity to sincerely thank those who faithfully carry out
their ministry to the Lord and His Church.
Thank you to our District Staff Personnel:
· District Office Administrative Assistant, Mrs. Patricia
Fitzpatrick. I am extremely grateful for the faithfulness of
Pat as she carries out her responsibilities with such
efficiency. Thank you, Pat, for all you do for the Lord and for
the operations of this district.
· District Administrator, Rev. Terry Hudson. Pastor Terry is a
tremendous part of our district staff as he
19

supports local churches and pastors with insurance, legal, and
CRA resources. Thank you, Pastor Terry, for
serving the Lord and our local churches.
· District Young Adult Facilitator, Andrew Brown. Andrew has
jumped into his new role with both feet and has
begun developing a network of young adults across the district.
Thank you, Andrew. We are looking forward to
this ongoing partnership in Young Adult Ministry.
These wonderful ministries of Pat, Pastor Terry, and Andrew
makes it possible for me to focus on the vision God
is growing in us.
I am thankful for our District Advisory Board. Lay Members: Mrs.
Ruth Copeland-Holtz (secretary), Mrs. Suzanne
Trotman, Mr. Doug Davis; and Clergy Members: Rev. Rose Sorzano,
Rev. Mark Coulter, and Rev. Charmaine
Kofler.
Our auxiliary department leaders have carried out their
responsibilities with excellence: S.D.M.I. Chair: Mrs. Cindy
Stavropoulos, N.M.I. President: Ms. Bev Crossley and N.Y.I
President; Mrs. Marg Stahlbaum. Thank You!
A special recognition is in order for Bev Crossley. After
serving with excellence as our District N.M.I. President for
many years, Bev has sensed that it is time to pass the baton
over to a new president. She will remain on the
N.M.I. Council in a supportive role in a ministry she continues
to be passionate about. Thank you, Bev, for your
invaluable ministry over these many years. May God bless you in
this next season of service to Him and His
Church.

Highlights of the YearPastoral Changes:· Reverend Phil Sabine:
Retired.
· Pastor Russell Davis: Appointed to Woodstock Faith Church in
September.
· Pastor Michael Khan: Appointed as Interim Pastor for Niagara
Heights Church in March.
· Reverend Mark Patterson: Appointed as Interim Pastor for
Brantford Church in April.
· Pastor Maxine McLellan: Appointed as Supply Pastor for
Shelburne Grace Church in February.
Clergy Promoted to Glory:Two of our pastors entered into their
eternal reward this year:
· Reverend Robert McLellan passed away on December 6 , after a
long battle with cancer. Pastor Bob
faithfully devoted his entire pastoral ministry to the Canada
Central District. He pastored in Egypt, Peterborough,
and his final church in Shelburne Grace Church of the Nazarene,
where he was for 25 years. We continue to pray
for Pastor Bob’s wife, Maxine, and their adult children, Andrea
and Andrew.
· Pastor Ohannes (John) Keoshkerian passed away on April 18 .
Pastor John devoted over 30 years of his life
fulfilling the call of God on his life to be a minister of the
Gospel of Jesus. Over 20 of those years was dedicated
to the Toronto Armenian Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene which he
and his family planted in the early 1980’s.
Pastor John was preceded in death by his wife Berjouhi (Betty).
We continue to pray for his family, including
Pastor Hany and Sylva Boghossian, who now pastors the Toronto
Armenian Emmanuel Church.
We thank God for the lives of Pastor Bob and Pastor John. Many
have been impacted, and eternal destinies
changed because of their faithful ministry over many years.

efforts to intentionally develop transformational leaders.
Equipping for Effective Ministry (eQUIP):Equipping for Effective
Ministry (eQUIP):
This is a quarterly workshop series designed for licensed and
ordained minister. They are held at our District
Office and live streamed to those who are too far away or unable
to meet in person.
The workshops are facilitated by practitioners and cover
practical areas through an interactive format. After
receiving the training, attendees can work through how they can
implement what was learned in their ministry
context.
I am grateful for Reverend Tina Pitamber and her role as
Coordinator for eQUIP.
Ministry Development Centre (MDC):Ministry Development Centre
(MDC):
The purpose of Ministry Development Centres (MDC) has been
twofold:
1) Provide lay training for members and pastoral development for
ministerial students
21
-
2) Provide denominational training and support for ministerial
students studying online or enrolled in a seminary
or studies outside of our denominational formal training.
We currently have three MDCs operating across the District.
· Reverend Donna Wilson leads our Georgian Bay Missional Zone
MDC.
· Reverends Junior and Rose Sorzano lead our London MDC.
· Reverend Pedro Julio Fernandez leads our Spanish MDC.
I thank God for these leaders and their faithfulness in
developing Pastoral Leadership as we raise up the next
generation.
I will address the future of Clergy Preparation later in my
report.
Clergy and Spouse Retreat:Reverend Albert and Christine Hung,
District Superintendent for the Northern California District, were
our guest
speakers. The Hungs were a great encouragement to our
pastors.
Clergy Day:This year’s Clergy Day was scheduled to be in
partnership with our sister denominations at the Tyndale Wesley
Conference. Unfortunately, the conference had to be canceled
because of the Covid-19 restrictions.
iMPACT:At our 2016 District Assembly we introduced a 3 step
Church Health Initiative we named iMPACT. The purpose
of this program is to journey with local churches, providing
resources and training, to move towards our goal –
Every Church, a Healthy Church.
During the first two years we offered two of three steps of
iMPACT.
· Step 1 was a half day workshop held in 4 locations across our
district. More that 75% of our churches were
represented at these workshops.
· Step 2 was a 21 hour course held in 6 locations across our
district. Just about 50% of our churches were
represented at these courses.
During the past two years we have been offering step 3.
· Step 3 is a Weekend Consultation by the District iMPACT Team.
A thorough self-study by the congregation is
necessary to ensure the success of the consultation. This is
followed by a weekend visit by the iMPACT team, at
which time they interview congregational leaders, conduct a
frank discussion among a cross-section of
members, provide a training session, and present the
prescriptions for change following the Sunday worship
service. If the Pastor and Board decide to accept the
recommendations, the District provides follow up to assist
the pastor and church to implement the prescriptions.
We have completed 8 weekend consultations.
District Advisory Board Vision DaysIn 2019, the District
Advisory Board engaged in a process to hear from the Lord and to
discern the direction and
areas of focus for the Canada Central District over the course
of the ensuing 5 years. It was a productive and
22
-
God inspired exercise that will be continuing in the weeks and
months ahead.
As we have listened to District Leaders and District Young
Adults, and as we have spent time in prayer, there
were three areas of focus have percolated to the top. I shared
those with you at our 2019 District Assembly. Let
me now share how these areas are developing.
Prayer:We believe that if the mission of the Church is going to
be effective in Ontario, we need to spend much time in
prayer and fasting.
· We began our 2019 District Assembly with a concert of prayer,
with guided prayers for the assembly, our
local churches, pastors, and the mission of the church.
· We have conducted corporate times of prayer across the
district in 5 of our 7 missional zones. The other
two missional zone prayer gatherings were planned but had to be
postponed because of Covid-19 restrictions.
These will be rescheduled once we are able to meet in person
again.
· The District Advisory Board has taken time for focused prayer
each time we meet.
· Since the suspension of in-person church gatherings, our
pastors have met Sunday mornings for a time of
prayer. This continues to be a rich time of praying for our
people and for each other. My heart’s desire is that
God would affect a great spiritual awakening on the Canada
Central District – Let it start with our Pastors in
Prayer.
Education (Clergy Preparation):Over the next 4 years, about 50%
of our pastors on the Canada Central District will have reached the
age of
retirement. We thank God that we have men and women who are
answering the call to vocational ministry.
Currently we have over 30 in the pipeline with either a District
License or a Local Minister’s License.
If the Church of the Nazarene is going to be an effective part
of God’s move to reach the 14 million people of
Ontario, then we need to continue to intentionally raise up the
next Spirit filled pastors. This needs to begin with
every local church becoming an incubator for people to sense
God’s call.
As women and men answer the call, there needs to be an effective
clergy preparation path. I reported to you at
last year’s assembly that the District Advisory Board has agreed
on the following statement regarding clergy
preparation:
As we intentionally work towards harnessing the wisdom,
experience, and resource in the church, to raise up thenext Spirit
Filled Leaders, Canada Central District will use its Education
Budget (Currently 28% of District Income)to invest in the education
of its ministerial candidates.
This education will be:
· Robust and steeped in Wesleyan Theology
· Validated by ICOSAC/RCOSAC
· Covering all courses required for ordination in the Church of
the Nazarene
· Accessible
· Affordable ?
23
-
The decision has been made to partner with Nazarene Bible
College to prepare women and men for vocational
ministry. NBC fulfills all the requirements we set forth.
Students will be able to take courses online and in person
towards a Bachelor of Arts in Ministry Degree. This is
the preferred route towards ordination on the Canada Central
District. We will partner with students to make this
process an affordable one as well as providing guidance and
educational mentoring.
The goal is that the program will be up and running for the Fall
of 2020.
I am pleased to report that as of May 1 , 2020, Reverend Tamara
Hudson was appointed as the District NBC
Alliance Director. Reverend Hudson and her husband, Terry, held
similar responsibilities with European
Nazarene College while serving as missionaries on the Eurasia
Region. Reverend Hudson has quickly been
working with NBC to develop our partnership.
This is a significant development as we raise up the next
generation of clergy and lay leaders on the Canada
Central District.
Young Adults Ministry:During the District Advisory Board’s
listening to our District Leaders and Young Adults, it became clear
that we
need to focus developing our Young Adult Ministry. The fact is,
this will enhance the goal to raise up the next
generation of Spirit filled leaders, both lay and clergy.
After much prayer and discussion, and meeting with key young
adult leaders across our district, the District
Advisory board made the decision to appoint Andrew Brown to the
role of District Young Adult Facilitator.
Andrew served as Youth Pastor at Hamilton First Church (Now
Hamilton Crown Point Church) from 1998-2003.
He serves as the Executive Pastor at Church on the Rock in
Hamilton and provides oversight and supervision for
its staff (Children’s Ministry Director, Youth Ministry
Director, Administrator, Service & Communication
Coordinator).
Andrew took on the role as our District Young Adult Ministry
Facilitator in January of this year and has been
working closely with our District NYI Team to develop a
framework and a network for Young Adult Ministry
support and equipping across the district.
The good news is that this role is fully funded by those who
answered the challenge at last District Assembly, to
give to make this role a reality. Thank you to those who have
made this possible.
Funding the MissionIn order for us to carry out the mission,
focus on our strategic priorities, continue our church health
initiative, and
realize the vision of “Harnessing the Wisdom, Experience and
Resources in the Church to Raise Up the Next Spirit
Filled Leaders”, we need every church to be on board in giving
towards funding the mission.
When we give to the Lord in your local church, our generosity
has a ripple effect, starting in your community.
Your tithes and offerings support your church’s ministry to the
community God has placed you. Your church’s
tithe to the District, goes towards initiatives like iMPACT and
Clergy Preparation through NBC Alliance. The 5.5%
your church gives to World Evangelism Fund, supports the global
ministry, including missionaries around the
world.
There is much God is calling us to do as a District. We can only
accomplish those things as you are faithful in
your giving to FUND THE MISSION!

District Administrator ReportGeneral Superintendent Dr. David
Graves, District Superintendent Rev. Steve Ottley, and fellow
Nazarenes of theCanada Central District, greetings in Jesus’ name.
I am happy to be bringing my second report as District
Administrator.First of all, I want to thank God for the opportunity
to serve him in this capacity. It is a joy to be able to support
the
mission of the Church of the Nazarene in Ontario, knowing that
God is whole heartedly at work to reach this
generation of Ontarians with the full salvation that comes
through faith in Jesus Christ. I view my role as
contributing to the healthy administrative framework that helps
gives strength and stability to our mission of
making Christlike disciples in this great field of God’s
harvest. And for that I am thankful to him.
I also want to express my gratitude to Pastor Steve and to say
what a joy it is to be able to work closely with him
in the duties of this position. He is always a source of
encouragement, and I am thankful to be able to share in the
vision God has placed on his heart for ministry on this
district.
This year I have primarily been working in four areas:
1) Making sure that our local churches have adequate insurance
coverageinsurance coverage. I have worked to develop a
method of making the reporting of coverages to the district more
streamlined, which has helped us as a district
to ensure that at least 90% of our local churches have adequate
abuse liability coverage. This, in turn, enables
the district’s liability coverage to be valid.
2) Dealing with maintenance and development of the district
owned propertydistrict owned property at 3657 Ponytrail Dr. in
Mississauga (Bethel Spanish Church, Sunshine Children’s Centre,
District and National offices). Because of the
age of the building, there have been several issues arise that
have needed attention, including the roof, a new fire
safety panel, the sewer drainage, and some rainwater leakage.
Some of these issues have been resolved, others
are ongoing. In relation to this we are planning to perform a
cost analysis of the propertyand to develop a long-
term fiscal plan for it.
3) Developing training resourcestraining resources for local
church officers. I have continued to develop training videos for
local
church treasurers and church board secretaries to assist those
who are new to these positions. There is still
much more that I hope to do in this area, utilising the
expertise of people on our district to bolster these training
efforts. As resources are developed, they will be made available
through our district’s website.
4) Offering guidance to local churches in administrative
issuesguidance to local churches in administrative issues such as
incorporation. This year I have
begun the process of working toward incorporation for two local
churches. I have also helped other churches
with issues related to CRA, electronic giving, establishing
compassionate ministry centres, etc.
Respectfully submitted,
Rev. Terry Michael Hudson

Young Adult Facilitator ReportIt has been an exciting couple
months as I’ve begun to re-acquaint myself with the Nazarene Canada
Central
District (and all that God is doing here!) as it’s been quite
some time since I served as a youth pastor at Crown
Point Community Church (previously Hamilton First Church of the
Nazarene). I have loved the opportunity to re-
connect with some familiar faces and meet many new people.
While my current fulltime role is serving as the Executive
Pastor at Church on the Rock in Hamilton it is nice to be
back in the Nazarene family in a part-time capacity serving as
the District Young Adult Ministry Facilitator. It has
been tremendous to begin to connect with churches and people
passionate about Young Adult Ministry as we
embark on this new initiative.
The vision for this initiative is to raise the profile and
development of young adult ministry across the district and
to assist in facilitating the development of our next generation
of Nazarene leaders.
This will be accomplished by:
1) Creating a Young Adult Ministry network at the district level
tasked with creating and driving the District Young
Adult strategy. This would create a system of support and
resources for moving the strategy forward and at the
same time initiate Young Adult leadership development and
empowerment at the district level.
2) Support and resource local churches interested in developing
their Young Adult engagement strategy. This
consultation would need to be adaptable to meet the needs of a
wide range of local church contexts but over
time we would seek to create a template for these consultations
and enabling a number of network members to
facilitate them.
3) Create district Young Adult engagement opportunities to
support local churches in their ministry to Young
Adults.
Since my arrival I have had the pleasure of connecting with our
District NYI council and have been working
alongside Marg Stahlbaum (our NYI President) looking to leverage
the Canada Central District NYI as a resource
and partner in this endeavour.
I’m excited about continuing to lay the ground work and am
looking forward to what God is going to do as we
move forward together in our vision of a healthy robust Young
Adult ministry and next generation of Nazarene
Leaders.
In Christ,
Andrew Brown

SDMI Chair ReportI want to sincerely thank all those of you who
work together in Sunday School and Discipleship ministries in your
localchurches. I know you all have busy lives and conflicting
priorities yet to choose to minister and serve God’s kingdom. We,as
a SDMI board, are thrilled to partner with you and your local
church ministry to bring others closer to Him.We made the decision
at our September 2019 meeting to work towards the concept of online
Bible Studies that
we could resource to our local churches. Additionally, Janinne
Dinsmore, our Adult Ministries Director, met with
Pastors Ann Hallyburton & Charmaine Kofler to find Bible
Study resources to purchase and share through our
resource library. We voted on a budget of $1,000 CDN to resource
this initiative. Then we found ourselves in the
middle of Coronavirus in February 2020 and everyone was
ministering online.
When we realized that having an in-person District SDMI
Convention & GROW Conference would not be feasible,
we switched to Zoom. Kerby Stavropoulos, our GROW Co-Ordinator,
worked with me to format GROW 2020
Online Conference to help resource the local church ministries
into online ministry. We changed the format, the
look, and the location but not the vision and purpose of
District SDMI ministry. Using the Zoom platform, we had
4 breakout rooms to focus training through small groups on a few
key areas.

Another important initiative we completed this year was to
create an email address to accommodate e-transfers
for our District Training events. Thank you, Doug Davis, for
your excellent work.
Our Treasurer, Susan Davis, is key when we are working on
providing training and resources to our District. Her
report is attached at the end of this report. Thank you, Susan,
for your many hours of financial management and
outstanding financial recording.

Convention Business
During the Covid-19 crisis, churches, schools, and non-essential
businesses were closed. People were asked to
stay home and practice social distancing. This quarantine has
continued to remain in place well past our planned
Convention on May 2nd at Rosewood Church. The Board of General
Superintendents has recommended that all
32
-
District Business Elections and Reports be submitted to the
District Advisory Council (DAC) to be elected through
an online Zoom meeting. Also, the recommendation was made for
all existing District Boards to have their board
membership roll over until the 2020-2021 church year end.
Therefore, we have followed this counsel by
providing election requirements and reporting to be sent to the
DAC.
However, we have had two essential District leaders resign for
significant family reasons. We are bidding a sad
farewell to Wendy Rampold who has been our District Children’s
Ministries Director since 2016. Wendy has been
an amazing board member and her administrative gifts of
registration will also be dearly missed. Wendy and her
family are moving to Alberta to reunite the entire Baker
family.
Janinne Dinsmore has been our District Adult Ministries Director
since 2017. Janinne has been working diligently
towards creating Adult Ministries resources for local churches.
She took a hesitant step out of local church
volunteering into district leadership and she did awesome!
Janinne has resigned due to family reasons requiring
more of her attention at this time.
These leadership changes has motivated the District SDMI Board
to shift board members into these vital ministry
roles. We have made the following recommendations to the
DAC:
District Children’s Ministry Director – Bria McIntosh (Rosewood
Kids Min Director)
District Adult Ministry Director – Pastor Charmaine Kofler
(Ottawa Bridlewood)
District CLT / Lay Training Director – Kerby Stavropoulos (Ajax
Connect & GROW Co-Ordinator)
The personnel shifts to new positions left two open positions on
our District Board General Members. We are
working towards connecting with some excellent candidates and
those recommendations, once confirmed, will
also be sent to the DAC.
The last orders of business for the 2019-2020 District SDMI
Board required elections as well. Our board needed
to elect two Clergy and two Lay delegates for the 2021 SDMI
General Convention as well as two alternates for
each election.
Additionally, the Global SDMI office requested that we elect an
SDMI representative for Canada Central District as
the Global SDMI Board will take one SDMI from the entire church
ministry areas to be the volunteer SDMI Rep on
that board. The final election will be done at General
Convention in June 2021. There will be a total of 18 names on
the last ballot with two representatives from each of the nine
Educational Regions globally. All of these elections
results will be send to the DAC to confirm.
Our Excellent Team!Our Excellent Team!
I am privileged to work with great leaders and volunteers on the
District SDMI board. Each board member
brings their strengths, talents, and great ideas to the planning
and organizing meetings. We love to hear from our
local churches and their leadership with ideas for training and
resources.
I greatly appreciate the encouragement and strong support of our
District Superintendent, Rev. Steve Ottley.
Both he and Pat have been exceptional in Nazarene Church
ministry in Ontario and we are so very grateful for
their ministry and love for each of us on this district. P.
Steve is very supportive and encouraging of the work of
the SDMI CCD Board. Thank you, Pastor Steve.
Additionally, I am very thankful for the support and assistance
of Pat Fitzpatrick in the District Office in helping us
with all and varied requests. Thank you so much, Pat!

The SDMI team is continually looking for ways and methods of
training that we can bring to Canada Central. This
year, your SDMI leaders are travelling great distances to find
resources, campaigns, training sources, etc. to help
you in your local church ministry. I am proud of my entire team
who work tirelessly to come up with ideas and
plans to make these dreams become a reality.

THANK YOU
For me, personally, my family has been supportive and
encouraging of my position and assist me in so many
ways. So I would like to thank my husband, Pastor Nick, for his
wonderful and unfailing support and my children
for their talents and involvement in the District ministries as
well as throughout their daily lives serving Him –
Kerby & Jeremy Stavropoulos and Amy & Jani Csöke.
Thank you all for your faithfulness in training, equipping and
encouraging the family of God in your local
churches. You are fulfilling God’s call to us every day as you
minister for His church. Never give up. Know you
are appreciated and needed. You will receive your full reward in
Heaven so continue to persevere during those
tough times of ministry. “[Jesus] said to his disciples, ‘The
harvest is great, but the workers are few.’” Matthew
9:37 NLT. Even though Jesus is pointing out the lack of workers,
remember that those workers that are helping
are VERY appreciated. YOU are one of those workers.
May I challenge each one of you to mentor someone else to start,
takeover or team up in one of your ministries
this year. Sometimes people don’t want to ‘take’ your job away,
so plan to pass on your service to someone else

and start something new. You never know where your next passion
may lie. Trust Him. Take that step of faith and
try something new. After all, you stepped out in faith and look
where you are ministering now!
This is my 18th Report as the Canada Central SDMI Chair. Thank
you for giving me the opportunity to serve as
your District Chair this past year. I look forward to another
amazing year of service for Him. Let’s plan to bring in a
great harvest this coming church ministry year!

NMI President ReportGeneral Superintendent Dr. David Graves,
National Director Dr. Ian Fitzpatr ick, Distr ictGeneral
Superintendent Dr. David Graves, National Director Dr. Ian Fitzpatr
ick, Distr ict
Superintendent Rev. Steve Ottley, Pastors, Local NMI Presidents,
Delegates and Friends:Superintendent Rev. Steve Ottley, Pastors,
Local NMI Presidents, Delegates and Friends:
With deepest gratitude, I present to you my thirteenth District
NMI President’s report
I have been intrigued, in these days of COVID-19, by the varied
means through which numerous individuals are
coming to the aid of those requiring help and kindness. It is
compassionate. It is generous. It is necessary. It is
wonderful, and not to be diminished. I, as many of you, I’m
sure, have participated. Of course, my prayer is that
such concerns and endeavours will continue.
But, they have also taken me to a different place of thought, to
Ezekiel 37, and the time I was privileged to sit
under the inspired preaching of Dr. Gustavo Crocker, at the
Power of One conference in Bangladesh in 2012. Yes. That long ago.
I was impacted, so I remember.
Ezekiel 37: 1-10 reads this way.
The hand of the Lord was on me, and he brought me out by the
Spirit of the Lord and set me in the middle of avalley; it was full
of bones. He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great
many bones on the floor ofthe valley, bones that were very dry. He
asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?”
I said, “Sovereign Lord, you alone know.”
Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them,
‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! This iswhat the Sovereign
Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you
will come to life. I will attachtendons to you and make flesh come
upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you
willcome to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’”
So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying,
there was a noise, a rattling sound, and thebones came together,
bone to bone. I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and
skin covered them, but there was no breath in them.
Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of
man, and say to it, ‘This is what theSovereign Lord says: Come,
breath, from the four winds and breathe into these slain, that they
may live.’” So Iprophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered
them; they came to life and stood up on their feet—a vastarmy.
Dr. Crocker went on to share that organizations, even ones with
Christian origins, can come with aid money
(rattling bones), professionals (flesh), and expertise
(tendons), but what are the results? Still, a limp corpse
without life. Funds, programs and strategies fade away. There is
sustainable life onlyonly if the Spirit of God is
present.
Nazarene Missions International (NMI) is neither program nor
acronym. It must be directed by the Spirit of God
and driven by a passion for the salvation of the lost. Local
presidents and churches, you are ambassadors of the
kingdom of God to people who need the Lord, wherever they are.
Bless you, and thank you, for your
faithfulness to this end.
It is our hope that, through these occasions of the past year,
you were engaged with mission opportunities and
stories, and inspired to passion.

Convention 2019Convention 2019:: The District NMI council
excitedly collaborated with District Assembly and the NYI and
SDMI
conventions at the inaugural Family Reunion one year ago.
Friday morning, we participated in a concert of prayer led by
Kerby Stavropoulos. Our Saturday morning began
with National Director Ian Fitzpatrick encouraging us to greet
each new day in anticipation of the adventure it will
be with God. Donning his Global Missions hat, he then introduced
to us the new Nazarene Missions rollout.
Greetings from Global NMI council representative, Penny Ure, and
reports by District NMI President, Bev.
Crossley, District NMI Treasurer, Gord Evans and Elaine Bumstead
of partner organization Nazarene
Compassionate Ministries Canada were followed by introductions
to our new Links missionaries, Anthony and
Barbara Manswell of Trinidad and Tobago and Deputation
missionaries, Dr. Bill and Marsha McCoy.
It was our privilege to sponsor the Ministry With Others (MWO)
adventure that connected children, youth and
adults with the Toronto Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene
community by the building of home gardens. We
were grateful to Pastor Bill and his team for the chance to be
supportive in this way.
Family Camp 2019Family Camp 2019:: Our Family Camp missions
service last year did not come with a traditional missionary
speaker, but it did come with a General Superintendent, Dr.
Gustavo Crocker. Well, perhaps not in person, but it
was our pleasure to share Dr. Crocker’s new Nazarene missions
address, which was originally given to the
General Board and guest District NMI Presidents in the previous
February.
Over the course of the preceding four years, the Board of
General Superintendents and General Board members
had worked to clarify, reframe and unify the message of Nazarene
missions.
Our evening was concluded by Rev. Donna Wilson, Mission Call
Coordinator for Canada Central District. She
astutely shared of the two Sauls of the Bible; King Saul who
received a call of God and disobeyed, and Saul
become Paul who heard God’s call and obeyed. Our prayer that
evening was that God would call Nazarenes on
Canada Central to be missionaries, and we would be obedient in
response, affirmation, encouragement and
sending.
Deputation 2019Deputation 2019:: Canada Central was privileged
to receive Dr. Bill and Marsha McCoy from October 22
through 27, 2019. They visited 8 churches in the 6 days.
This lovely couple, retiring from 30+ years of ministry as
missionaries, shared with us from their work at Kudjip
Nazarene Hospital in Papua New Guinea.
They shared a look at medical missions, and their video can
still be seen at the following link. As Marsha
cautioned, “remember it is a medical video”.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3MwCewhQSYZVWJXNDVMVFRSNFU/edit?usp=sharing
Dr. Bill encouraged us with Jesus’ words to Peter to “put out
into deepdeep water, and let down the nets for a catch”,
as he shared stories of the presence, healing and power of God.
We are forever grateful for his testimony and
admonition to go deeper.
LinksLinks :: We were assigned new Links missionaries for three
years (2019-2022) . . . Anthony and Barbara Manswell,
and still-at-home son, Jerrick.
The Manswells are assigned to serve at Caribbean Nazarene
College which is located in Trinidad, but serves the
entire English-speaking Caribbean.

As local churches, please encourage Anthony and Barbara by
sharing life together, praying for each other,
communicating as often as possible, and giving as you feel moved
by the Holy Spirit.
The PrezThe Prez :: It has been my honour to serve as President
this past year, and in these additional ways.
· I attended the Grow Hope Markdale Foodgrains Bank celebration
in August of 2019.
· Esther Bookhoo and I were able to visit with our dear friend
and former District NMI Council member, Clair
Ann Keodprom, before her passing from cancer, also in August.
And then to attend her homegoing celebration.
On your behalf, and at Clair Ann’s wishes, a donation was made
to Ambrose University.
· In January of 2020, Rev. Donna Wilson, Esther Boodoo, Cynthia
Knight and I proceeded to the District
Leadership Conference in Daytona Beach for missions
training.
· A personal trip to the Cuba East district, with Rev. Donna
Wilson, afforded the opportunity to encourage
and fellowship with Deysi Simales, Cuba East District NMI
President and Rev. Armando Viera, Cuba East District
NCM Coordinator.
· I prepared our In the Loop submissions.
· I trust I was a help to those who made missions inquiries on a
variety of topics.
· I participated in multiple Zoom meetings with Global and
National leadership.
Giv ingGiving :: Unfortunately, at the writing of this report, I
was unable to secure the giving amounts for World
Evangelism Fund and Missions Specials from our National Office.
They were still in the process of closing the
year. I will provide them, as soon as they are available, via In
the Loop. Nevertheless, thank you for yourfaithfulness to give and
pray for Nazarene mission work everywhere.
ThanksThanks : I serve with a team of individuals who are the
strength of the District NMI council, and who give of
themselves with humility and grace. Words are insufficient to
thank them, but thank them I must. From the
depths of my heart, thank you Donna Wilson (vice-president),
Esther Boodhoo (secretary), Gord Evans
(treasurer), Cynthia Knight (Links), Thomas Stubbington, Edna
Smith-Bowes (deputation), Jerold Boodhoo (work
& witness/hearts with hands), Arthur McClelland and Urcilla
Rodney (zone representatives) and District
Superintendent Steve Ottley.
ConclusionConclusion:: In conclusion, it has already been
announced that I am stepping away from the position of
President, not allowing my name to stand for re-election, but I
wish for you to know that this is done with the full
assurance that God has willed it. As each term has previously
ended, I have always sought the Lord’s direction,
always choosing to allow my name to be presented unless He would
reveal otherwise. I have proceeded no
differently, listening to God’s Spirit, seeking godly counsel
and taking a look at circumstances. As I come to the
end of this report, I do so with great anticipation for what
lies ahead under the next leadership. I actually grin with
excitement and joy when I wonder about it.
This remains my prayer for all of us.
Father God, please continue to direct us by and in your Spirit,
equip us and use us in your redemptive mission asyou graciously
bring peace to sinners. Help us to see people more like you do so
that we would grow in ourboldness to share the gospel with others
worldwide. In the unmatched name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
Respectfully submitted,

NYI President ReportPastor Steve, students, young adults, youth
leaders and my Canada Central family,
The Mission Statement of NYI globally is BEBE DODO GOGO
BEBE examples of Christ in your families, schools, jobs and
communities.
DODO life together - even during this time of social distancing
- disciple someone and continue to be discipled.
GOGO and lead people to Christ - children, adults, seniors and
your peers.
Canada Central District NYI started off our church year with
promise and purpose. We were looking forward to
where Holy Spirit was leading us. We were anticipating the
hiring of someone for the Young Adult Facilitator
position. We were looking forward to some exciting events! It's
exciting to look forward in anticipation and hope.
In all of these planned scenarios, we knew Holy Spirit was
guiding us and calling us to serve and to love those
we served.
Your District NYI has formed partnerships to help serve and love
those we are called to serve. We've built
partnerships within our own Canada Central District auxiliaries
and outside of it to help us do that. NYI sponsored
some attendees to SDMI's annual GROW conference in May. The
Foundation full day workshop walked us
through six priorities that were building blocks in Jesus'
ministry that would allow disciples to be made and
multiplied - Holy Spirit Dependence, Prayerful Guidance,
Obedient Living, Word Centred, Exhalting the Father,
and Relationships of Love and Integrity. More recently, NYI
partnered with our first online training day in
partnership with SDMI in April. There were four online
opportunities for different areas of ministry and NYI helped
sponsor one of them about a ministry opportunity with an
organization called Axis.
Nazarene Compassionate Ministries Canada has offered training
and ministry opportunities to our Young Adults
particularly on this District. I've taken training courses that
will assist with mission teams and their ministry in other
world areas and here in Canada. We had a group of young adults
that went on the Malawi Send Me Tour in
February to get an understanding of some ministries NCM Canada
offers. If you'd like to see a recap of their visit,
please go to Send Me Learning Tour, Malawi, Africa 2020
