THIS WEEK’S SPECIAL OFFERINGS

Blessed Virgin Mary Candle – In memory of Anna Rapisarda, req. by Peg and John Killeen.

FROM THE PASTOR

Dear Parishioners,

The joy of Easter continues to be celebrated here at our church in all churches for 50 days of the Easter season. It is a time to rejoice that our Lord is truly risen from the dead and lives among us in the Eucharist, in the scriptures, and in one another as celebrate and look forward to the gifts of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Till then, we rejoice, we celebrate, and we believe.

As we celebrate the liturgies of Holy Week and Easter, there are many people who need to be thanked for all their time and talent. A word of thanks to all our extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist, our lectors, ushers and servers and all who helped out in any way. A special word of thanks to John and Canice Cristofoletti, Joan Westervelt, Alice O’Sullivan, Tommy and Charile Nyfenger, Gary Schoeppler, Grace Calabro, Ralph DeNicola, and anyone else who helped in the decorating of our church for Easter. Our beautiful church looks even more beautiful thanks to you. A special word of thanks to Lou Scarpa, our director of music, for the beautiful music provided during Holy Week and Easter, and to our cantors, Joe Fritz and Sharon Abramski, the adult and children’s choirs. The beautiful music helped all the more to lift our hearts and spirits into the true spirit of Easter. Many thanks to you all.

You may have noticed that the statue of our patroness, the Blessed Mother, is now located in the sanctuary, to the left of the main altar. As patroness of our church, many have felt that the statue should be in a more prominent location. Any feedback is welcomed.

May the joy of the Resurrection continue to be in your hearts and homes as we celebrate the great fifty days of the Easter season.

Sincerely in the Lord,

Fr. Joe

ST. MARY PARISH IS A PARISH THAT PRACTICES

STEWARDSHIP

SPIRITUAL REFLECTIONS ON STEWARDSHIP ”The community of believers was of one heart and mind, and no

one claimed that any of his possessions was his own . . .” – – Acts 4: 32

All that we are and all that we have is a gift from God! Think of your family, your friends, your talents, your abilities and your money – these are all gifts from God! We aren’t really owners of anything, we are merely “stewards” of the gifts God has blessed us with.

2019 MASS INTENTION BOOK

On a fixed date each year, we “open” the Intention Book for Masses which will be said here in St. Mary Church during the next year. On Friday, April 13th, we will formally begin taking mass intentions for 2019. We recommend that parishioners write their request and mail them along with the $10.00 stipend to the attention of Grace Ditzel by the 13th. This would forestall a “run” on the rectory. These requests will be honored by when they are received in the mail. Masses booked in person after the 13th will be honored according to availability of dates. No phone requests will be taken. Please Note: In fairness to everyone we are limiting the amount of Mass requests for 2019 to a maximum of SIX (6) masses per family and not all requests can be for Sunday Masses.

ST. MARY PARISH MUSIC MINISTRY UPDATE Our Holy Week liturgies were enriched thanks to over 30 wonderful parishioners who participate in music ministry!

The Choir of St. Mary, now back to singing regularly, gave so much of their time and talent. Members find this to be a great way to participate in parish life, keep active and connected, and have a good time along the way. New members welcome!

The Choristers (grade 3 – 8) also sang on Easter. About 15 students sang so beautifully, rehearsed with diligence, and had a good time singing and learning together. Three junior high students, Owen, Sophia, and Arianna, also served as cantors at Easter. Thanks to Mrs. Grace Calabro for assisting with the rehearsals (and baking every chorister a treat!) Thanks to Ms. Pat who chaperoned and to parents who supported their youngsters in this endeavor.

Special thanks to our cantors, Joseph and Sharon, and visiting cantors who offered their gifts to us. The parish was blessed on Palm Sunday and Easter with the sound of a trumpet and flute at certain masses.

Thanks especially to Father Joseph Scarangella for his support of music ministry. Father often stops by rehearsals to say thank you to the choirs and offer a prayer. Thanks to each parishioner who supports the parish, providing the resources necessary to do all that we do.

God bless St. Mary Parish! Mr. Louis Scarpa, Director of Music

ST. MARY CHORISTER SCHEDULE The Choristers (grades 3 – 8 choir) will sing on April 22nd at the 9:30 AM mass, arriving at 9:00 AM to warm-up.

Any new students wishing to participate, please contact Mr. Scarpa at [email protected] or see him after mass. Bring a buddy!
