PASTORAL REFLECTIONS
When St. Paul encouraged the church to stir into a flame the gift of the Holy Spirit, he truly believed that this was a necessary thing to do, as the church began to do the work of proclaiming the gospel. I believe that we can always ask God for a fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit, even if our baptism or confirmation happened many years ago. God always wants to deepen His life within us. I believe that God truly makes this happen. I have experienced it in my own life, and when I have prayed with others for this grace I have seen it come alive. In today’s gospel the apostles ask Jesus to increase their faith. His comment to them is that if they had faith the size of a tiny mustard seed they would be able to do great and even impossible things, by Gods power. Let us ask ourselves the essential question, do we have mustard seed faith?
Have a blessed week.
Love, Fr. Paul

SPIRITUAL REFLECTIONS ON STEWARDSHIP “For God did not give us a spirit of cowardice but rather of
power and love and self-control.” – 2 Timothy 1: 7
Many of us compartmentalize our Faith, we bring it out only when we attend Mass or when we attend a parish event. Being a good steward requires discipline and striving to put God first in everything, all the time. The next time you are at a neighborhood party, at work or out shopping, would your actions signal to others that you are a good and faithful servant of our Lord?

Parishioners: As part of the Ministry of Adult Altar Servers, I would like to say that this is something I always wanted to do, be an “Altar Boy”. But, alas, this was not possible when I was a young person. So when the opportunity arose, needless to say, I became an “Altar Boy” at 65+ years of age. There is something wonderful that happens when you are so close to God. Serving as an Altar Server for Funeral Liturgies has also educated me on the importance of the Rite of Funerals. We are in need of men and women during the day to serve at Funeral Liturgies and other liturgies as needed. It would be great if we could create a group of people. Not a huge commitment of time that we are asking of you. This ministry can be done according to your availability.
Please consider this ministry for yourself and contact me: Victoria Maiorino at 201-767-1698.
PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY The Prayer Shawl Ministry of St. Mary’s will be having shawls blessed at all masses on October 22nd – 23rd. These shawls are available for the sick and those seeking comfort. When you take a shawl, please provide us with the wearer’s first name so they can be remembered in our prayers. A donation to our ministry is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
