BANNS OF MATRIMONY I Sarah Rumfola Bryan McGlynn

JOURNEY FROM GRIEF TO HEALING—St. Joseph Spirituality Center will sponsor Journey from Grief to Healing, conducted by Sister Mary Ann Thimons, on the fourth Tuesday of each month (May 24 and June 28) from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. Sessions consist of input, sharing, and mutual support – helping us to learn coping, surviving and healing skills during a time of grief. There is no fee for this program. Call 412-600–3247 to register.

A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE (TRINITY SUNDAY)—The words of Jesus in today’s gospel, “I have many things to say to you, but you cannot hear them now” could have been said by any parent. It can be frustrating because our desire to guide is often misinterpreted or poorly received. We cannot program our children. We can only teach, lead and trust the Spirit of truth will guide them.

DUQUESNEFEST—Duquesne University’s largest open house event, Duquesnefest, will be held this summer on Sunday, June 12 beginning at 8:00 a.m. This exciting day is a fun way for Fall 2016 high school seniors to learn more about the University. Register online at www.duq.edu/duquesnefest.

ST. BARBARA CHURCH—St. Barbara Church, 45 Prestley Road, Bridgeville, is holding its first ever Church Festival Thursday to Saturday, June 2, 3 and 4 from 6:00–10:00 p.m. on the church parking lot. Dinners will be served in the Social Hall on Friday (Pasta Bar) and Saturday (Chicken Dinner) from 5:00–6:30 p.m. Cost is $10.00 per dinner and tickets will be sold at the door. Bingo will run from 7:00-10:00 p.m. each night in the Social Hall. Come to enjoy fun games for all ages. There will be delicious food, baked goods, basket raffles and more each night! We hope to see you there!

THE MOST HOLY TRINITY MAY 22, 2016

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION—Come drop by for a visit, however long or short this Wednesday, May 25. Committed Adorers are needed to ensure that Jesus is never left unattended between 9:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

ON MISSION FOR THE CHURCH ALIVE!—Saint Paul

reminds us that “there are different forms of service but the same Lord;

there are different workings but the same God who produces all of them

in everyone” (1 Corinthians: 5-6). In “On Mission for The Church

Alive!” each of us – priest, religious and lay – has our own distinct role,

our own distinct vocation. “On Mission for The Church Alive!” will

succeed if we are open to the prompting of the Holy Spirit to apply our

gifts in service to the Church. What gifts can you bring right now to

your parish? To read more, check out “On Mission for The Church

Alive!” on page 5 of this week’s Pittsburgh Catholic and visit

www.OnMissionChurchAlive.org. Follow On Mission for The Church

Alive on Twitter at @PghChurchAlive. Have something to share about

how your parish is "On Mission"? Use the hashtags #ChurchAlive and

#OnMissionPgh.

STAY CONNECTED—80% of kids stop practicing the faith at

some point during college. There is a way to keep our children

(grandchildren) connected to the faith. Go to www.diopitt.org/

newmanconnection and fill out the quick online form. We only need

their first and last name and the school they will be attending. A

Catholic campus minister at their college will be able to reach out to

them and invite them to participate in campus ministry. It takes less than

two minutes to do and it might be the most important thing you do for

your loved one as they graduate high school!

WOMEN'S GUILD MEETING RESCHEDULED—The OLG

Women’s Guild will meet in Keefer Hall immediately following the

7:00 p.m. Mass on Wednesday, June 8. All women of the Parish and

friends are invited to join us as we enjoy our Jewelry & Accessory

Exchange. Bring your gently used items that you just aren't wearing

anymore (scarves, sweaters, belts, purses, etc.) to allow someone else to

enjoy. Unclaimed items at the end of the evening may be reclaimed or

donated for the WG Rummage Sale in June. Delicious desserts also will

be available!

Our initial Pentecost Fine Arts Festival was a wonderful event enjoyed by hundreds of our parishioners. With the success of other multi-day OLG events such as our August Festival, the Lenten Fish Fry and the June Rummage Sale, we wanted to establish a new event over several days for the cultural enrichment of our parish. By all accounts we did just that and did it well. Hundreds of ballots were cast for the People’s Choice Award winning painting. Patrick Varriano’s “Rust Never Sleeps” won the prize and is hanging in La Bella Bean Coffee House and

Eatery in Bridgeville for the remainder of the month of May. La Bella Bean and Lambing Press partnered with Our Lady of Grace Parish to create, support and promote our Pentecost celebration of the artistic gifts and talents of our parishioners. Joe Negri performed with his masterful jazz guitar on Friday evening and Sam Hazo recited an hour of his exquisite poetry on Saturday afternoon. Before the art exhibit opened, Mike Gallagher and I continued our round of readings from my book with musical accompaniment on Thursday evening at La Bella Bean. Lambing Press handled all the book and cd sales. Josette Baker, our parish social minister, did an outstanding job of putting together the art exhibit of both professional and amateur parish artists. Not only did she cultivate the dozen parish artists who exhibited their artworks and hang the show, but she also handled all the promotion for the event which will include a forthcoming article in a local newspaper. Special thanks also goes to Sandra Conley, the Official Juror of the art exhibit. Dozens of volunteers assisted Josette in hosting the festival. La Bella Bean donated the catering for the closing artists’ reception on Sunday afternoon. Special thanks to our Facilities Manager, Stanley Zezsutek, who devised and assembled the ingenious fencing and tarp system that we used to display the 42 paintings in Keefer Hall. Those who came to the festival were also delighted with the large, new Marian banner hanging in Keefer Hall. The banner originally hung in the plaza fronting the Philadelphia Fine Arts Museum where Pope Francis celebrated Mass for the Festival of Families in September. Mary Beth and James Yount, former parishioners, secured this beautiful, painted image of Our Lady of Grace for our parish in gratitude for their years at OLG. We’ve already begun talking about how we can expand this festival in the future. Fr. Richard A. Infante, Pastor
