RESPECT LIFE MASS & DINNER

The Ulster Vicariate Respect Life Committee will hold its annual Celebration of Life Mass and Dinner on Friday, October 21, 2016. The Mass will take place at St Joseph's Church, Kingston, NY at 5:30 pm and the dinner will take place at the Best Western in Kingston, NY at 6:30 pm. The cost of the dinner is $30 per person. This year's speaker is Mr. Edward Mechmann, Esq., Director of Public Policy at Archdiocese of NY. For reservations please contact Leslie Przekop at 845-340-4254. RSVP by October 7, 2016. ST. JOSEPH’S MUSIC MINISTRY PRESENTS… “Inspired Songs of Healing, Hope and Remembrance.”

This annual service will be conducted at St. Joseph’s

Church, uptown Kingston on Sunday, November 6th at

2:30 pm. The combined 30 voices of St. Joseph’s

Schola, St. Joseph’s Choir and guests from area parishes

will offer a heartfelt selection of songs that speak to

those who have endured a loss. During the month of

November it is a tradition of our faith to honor and

remember those who have died.

This annual event at our Parish includes reflections and

readings, a list of the dead of our Parish in the past year

and a “Book of Remembrance” for everyone to list the

names of their beloved dead. Under the direction of

Bob Gaus, an ensemble of instrumentalists will be

featured. Jane Touhey is the Music Director.

Come for an hour of inspired song, a moment of

comfort, healing and the inspired hope. There is no

offering. Arrive early and bring a family member or

friend.

NEW ALTAR SERVERS TRAINING… Our Altar Servers Training will start on Saturday, October 29th from 2-3pm. Grade 3 students and higher who are interested in becoming an Altar Server may contact Fr. George at 338-1554. Sign-up forms are available in the Parish office.

ST. JOSEPH’S SOCIAL MINISTRY This weekend, our monthly collection of canned and non-perishable goods will

be taken up at all the Masses for St. Joseph’s Social Ministry. Please help us to assist others who are in need. On St. Joseph’s Social Ministry, we also wish to thank you for your donation of groceries last month. Through your generosity, we are able to help the less fortunate and needy in our community.

CARDS & CALENDARS FOR PRISON MINISTRY

Deacon Joe Doherty will be collecting cards and calendars for the prisoners again. PLEASE do not bring in Mass cards or cards that have printed on the back that a donation has been made to an organization. Deacon Doherty cannot use those cards. He also cannot use medals, prayer cards, pens, wrapping paper, stickers or necklaces. The last day for collecting the cards and calendars will be December 11th so there will be time for the men to use them. Thank you for your continued support of this ministry.

COMING EVENTS… Have you attended one of our Family/Youth Masses? This Sunday October 16, 2016, we will celebrate the 10:00 a.m. Mass along with the youth of the Parish, Altar Servers, Lectors, Ushers, Greeters, and Cantors. During Mass, four new Extra-ordinary Ministers of the Holy Eucharist will be installed and commissioned. All families are welcomed!

40 Days for Life - We are already at the mid-point of the campaign God is using to transform our community to Life. Join us this evening Sun., 10/16 from 6-7 p.m. at the local vigil site: Planned Parenthood, 17 Noxon St., Poughkeepsie - for a Mid-Point Prayer Vigil to thank God and to pray for strength to finish the race. The Rev. Sean Davidson of the Missionaries of the Most Holy Eucharist will be conducting the Mission in celebration of the Divine Mercy Adoration Chapel of Ulster County on October 15 – 19. The Mission begins on Saturday at the 5:00pm Mass and Homily by Fr. Davidson and the 8:30am Mass on Sunday here at Saint Joseph’s Church.

The Dominican College is hosting an Open House for High School and Transfer students and their families on Sunday, October 9, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event will be held in our Hennessy Center. During the Open House students can tour, meet faculty and students, discuss financial aid, learn about our Honors program and our very generous scholarship and grant programs that offers up to $ 17,000 per year.

The Kingston Council #275 Knights of Columbus wishes to announce the starting of the “2016 Annual Winter Clothing Drive”. All proceeds and donations go to benefit all in need of our local community. Please drop off well-kept and near new items in the vestibule.
