* CALL TO WORSHIP MINDY STEWART
One: Though there are rulers, presidents, kings, queens, God is the Lord of all life.
All: In God we live and move and have our being.
God requires our faithfulness and our service.
We reach out to others with the same kind of love with which God has
touched our lives.
Come, let us worship the Lord who is always with us.
Let us praise God who walks daily by our side.
* HYMN 189 As Deer Long for the Streams ROCKINGHAM
* CALL TO CONFESSION MATTHEW GARRETT
* CORPORATE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Almighty God, we come before you today as humble servants, seeking forgiveness
for our many shortcomings. Help us, each day, to remember your commandment to
love one another as you share your love with us. Even when we lose focus of your
example, help us find strength, understanding that we are your disciples. Lord, open
our eyes so we may see the beauty in all our brothers and sisters, and truly share
your example of inclusive love. Walk with us, hold our hands and carry us when we
are weary. It is with a sense of humility that we ask your forgiveness as we take time
to silently confess our sins.
* PRIVATE CONFESSION OF SIN (in silence)
* DECLARATION OF FORGIVENESS
One: Hear the Good News!
From the sweet melodies of the Psalms, we know you will bless the
righteous and shield us from harm; forgiving our sins and enabling
us to live each day as disciples of Christ’s love.
All: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven.
* GLORIA PATRI HYMN 579
Glory be to the Father** and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION MATTHEW GARRETT
FIRST LESSON PSALM 5
ANTHEM Recitative and Aria, Now heav'n in all her glory shone FRANZ JOSEPH HAYDN
from The Creation Michael Peters, bass
Recitative:
Straight opening her fertile womb, the earth obeyed the word, and teemed creatures
numberless, in perfect forms and fully grown. Cheerful roaring stands the tawny lion.
In sudden leaps the flexible tiger appears. The nimble stag bears up his branching head.
With flying mane and fiery look, impatient neighs the sprightly steed. The cattle in
herds already seeks his food on fields and meadows green. An o'er the ground, as
plants, are spread the fleecy, meek and bleating flock. Unnumbered as the sands in
whirl arose the host of insects. In long dimensions creeps with sinuous trace the worm.
Aria: Now heaven in fullest glory shone; earth smiles in all her rich attire. The room of air with fowl is filled; the water swelled by shoals of fish; by heavy beasts the ground is trod. But all the work was not complete, but all the work was not complete. There wanted yet that wondrous being that grateful should God's power admire, with heart and voice his goodness praise. But all the work was not complete. There wanted yet that wondrous being that grateful should God's power admire, with heart and voice his goodness praise.
SECOND LESSON LUKE 18:1–8
One: This is the word of the Lord.
All: Thanks be to God.

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING, INTERCESSION, AND PETITION
THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will
be done, on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us
our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us
from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.
CONGREGATIONAL AMEN DANISH
All are invited to sing in harmony.
INVITATION TO THE OFFERING
OFFERTORY Aria and Recitative from The Creation FRANZ JOSEPH HAYDN
Michael Peters, bass
Recitative: And God Said
And God said, Let the waters under the Heaven be gathered together to one place,
And let the dry land appear: and it was so.
And God called the dry land earth,
And the gathering of waters called he the seas:
And god saw that it was good.
Aria: Rolling in foaming billows
Rolling in foaming billows uplifted roars the boisterous sea. Mountains and rocks now
emerge, their tops into the clouds ascend. Through the open plains outstretching wide
in serpent error rivers flow. Softly purling glides on through silent vales the limpid
brook.
* DOXOLOGY OLD HUNDREDTH
Please stand as the music begins. HYMN 591
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise God, all creatures here below;
Praise God above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.** Amen.
