Meet Iain.She’s decided to fight chest, heart and stroke illness to the very end.

When Iain suffered a heart attack, his

first concern was for his child. Would he still be here

to see her grow up? Like so many people with a chest,

heart or stroke condition, he felt isolated and frightened. That’s where we came in.

Having completed his rehabilitation programme, Iain wanted to continue getting stronger but was anxious about which activities he could safely do. He called our award winning Advice Line, where the nurse listened and understood his anxiety and frustration. She was reassuring and referred him to his local CHSS Heart Group, where he continues to enjoy structured exercise and support. He tells us that we were a lifeline when he needed it most.

So when Iain recently added a gift in his Will to us, he was reassured that his small contribution would go a long way to support our invaluable services.

One incredibly effective way to help is by leaving a gift in your Will. This helps us feel secure in the knowledge there will be funds to continue our vital work.

Mairi knows first-hand how important our services can be. She knows she doesn’t have to cope alone when she attends her local CHSS Stroke Group. Here she finds friendship, positivity and experiences to share. She’s also found the confidence to join in our Voices Scotland programme, encouraging everyone affected by chest , heart or stroke illness to speak out and influence their local NHS services and to campaign on crucial issues that affect them.
