• Most people in the United Kingdom and the United Stares are Christians and, therefore, they celebrate Christmas every December.

• 24th December is also called Christmas Eve.

• Children all over the country prepare biscuits and milk for Santa Claus and hay for the reindeer, as Santa will bring gifts for them that night.

• Many churches have candle mass, at midnight.

• 25th December is Christmas Day.

• Traditionally children find presents from Santa Claus in the stockings hung at the fireplace.

• Families usually gather for Christmas dinner together.

• A typical Christmas dinner has roast turkey, potatoes, vegetables and Christmas pudding.

• The Christmas tree at the Rockefeller center in New York is one of the most famous as it has appeared in many films.

• Santa Claus is a traditional character, probably a mixture of European traditions and inspired by St. Nicholas.

• His present-day clothes were first designed for a Coca-Cola advert.

• He is supposed to have a sleigh pulled by nine reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donder, Blitzen and Rudolf, who is the most famous.

• Shopping is now a pagan tradition about Christmas.

• Most of us buy presents for our family and friends.

• The shopping season already begins with Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving) in the USA.
