Gotta Love The Music I confess that I will listen to Christmas music all year! Obviously I listen to more than just Christmas music, but it would not be uncommon to come into my office and hear Pandora playing the John Rutter Christmas Station. It really is hard to beat British Christmas music. I love the sounds of the men and boys choirs as they sing of the birth of Jesus - nothing like it! Of course, I love the words of the hymns/carols and the promise that they cause me to look forward to. One of my favorite carols is the Wexford Carol. (Look on YouTube and search for Alison Krauss and Yo Yo Ma). It is an old Irish Carol that dates back to the 12th century. It is really very simple in the fact that the lyrics retell the nativity story. The melody is Celtic and hauntingly beautiful, but very simple. One of the lines is the following: "Good people all, this Christmas time, consider well and bear in mind What our good God for us has done in sending his beloved Son." We all need to "consider well and bear in mind" what God has done by sending Jesus to live among us as one of us. It is also important that we not forget that God is indeed good. We do that best when we allow the Christmas story to become our story, our faith and our life, because, you see, as God sent Jesus into the world so He is sending us into to the world in the great reclamation project that is the Kingdom of God. Enjoy the music, especially the lyrics of these great carols and allow them to fill our souls with the heavenly music of the Savior. Blessings!
