Christianity Beliefs

Introduction The Christian religion has many beliefs, and

this short power point will tell you the top 8. But first, lets find out how these beliefs came to be. Almost all of the Christians beliefs revolve around Jesus and God. God sent his only son, Jesus Christ, to send a message to the world about how to forgive people and to be a nice person. Here are the top eight beliefs of Christianity…

1. God created all that is seen and unseen. Christians believe that God is the creator of all people, the world, the

universe, and everything seen and unseen.

2. Jesus is the son of God and is one with God. Christians believe that Jesus is the Son of God, that he is one with God, and

that he was sent here for our salvation.

3. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit and

born of the virgin Mary. Christians believe that Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit of God and born

through the virgin Mary.

4. Jesus suffered and was crucified. Jesus suffered and died for our sins. Jesus was falsely accused of being an

anti-government rebel and, as explained in Mathew 27:23-56, he was brought

to the Pontius Pilate to be executed through crucifixion.

5. Jesus rose again (the Resurrection). Jesus was resurrected, which means that he died and was brought back to

life again.

6. Jesus will return to judge the living and dead. Jesus wil return to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no

end.

7. Jesus ascended into Heaven. Jesus ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father.

8. People who repent their sins will be forgiven. People are forgiven and saved if they confess their sins and confess their

belief in the resurrection of Jesus.

Christianity Rituals

Introduction

The religion of Christianity has many rituals that they partake in. This power point will show you a few of the most important rituals.

Marriage The Christian community believed

marriage was a gift from God. They believe it is God’s purpose that a man and a woman marry out of love. Marriage in traditional Christian belief takes place in a church. The priest asks the couple to make each other promises. They than kneel before the vicar and are blessed.

Death Death is an important factor in the

Christian religion. Christians believe if you live a good life you will go to heaven when pass on. The believe once in heaven there is no pain, no sadness, and only peace and love. When you die friends and family will say prayers, hymns, and read bible readings. This service is called a funeral. They bury the deceased body in a coffin in the ground marked by a tombstone.

Baptism and First Communion

Baptism is the most known and most important ritual in Christian faith. They believe Jesus Christ was baptized in the river Jordan and told his followers to do the same. During a baptism the priest sprinkles water on your forehead, or you are submerged in water to wash away your sins and to start a new life with Jesus Christ. The priest says “ I baptize you in the name of the father, the son, and the holy spirit.” Than makes a cross on your forehead.

First communion First communion is the step after baptism. It takes place between

ages 7 and 9. During first communion the child carries a candle to the front. The priest places a piece of bread in your mouth and then you can receive holy communion.

Christianity Landmarks

landmarks from the place of Jesus' birth to the place of his crucifixion. In this power point presentation I will show you these places and tell you a little bit about their history.

Where Jesus was born

Jesus was born in Bethlehem. In a small stable because his parents, Mary and Joseph were to poor to stay in an inn. When Jesus was born three wise men came to him and gave gifts of silver and mur hymen.

Golgotha• Golgotha the place where Jesus Christ was

crucified. Jesus was crucified right out side the city gates to say to people coming into the city that they did not tolerate criminals. The arrow points toward where Jesus was crucified.

Christianity Symbols and Architecture

• HI I'm Brandon and I'm going to talk about symbols and architecture in Christianity.

Symbols • The dove with the olive branch is a

symbol of peace.• The fish curled around the anchor is a

symbol of Christ. • The angle is the symbol of the messenger.• The ark is a symbol of safety to all new

life and all living creatures. • The banner is a symbol of victory.• The cross is a symbol of love, hope and

sacrifice.

Symbols

• Hands are a symbol of healing, blessing, uplifting, praise, or service..

• Keys are a symbol of power and authority.

• The lighthouse is a symbol of a guiding path to Christ.

• The harp is a symbol of music• The rainbow is a symbol holiness,

divine promise and hope.

Architecture

• All church’s have a altar.• All Christian church’s have a cross.• Some Christian church’s are shape as a

cross.• Church’s in the old times were build too be

big so they were closer to god.• New churches are build as a meeting house.• Choir benches are more common in parish

churches, each of these benches have padded kneelers attach on the back of the benches so the can kneel down to pray to god
