Sermon Notes
Thank you for allowing our nursery staff to care for your little ones so the worship
of others will not be distracted. Pagers are available.
Children are invited to participate in the Children’s Message. When they exit they
may join the “Little Lambs” (age 3-5) or the “Worship Center” (K-2nd grade). At the
close of the service, please call for your child. Both centers are located upstairs,
first hallway on the left.
As a courtesy, please switch your cell phones off or to silent mode.
Hearing enhancers are available. Please ask an usher.
The flow of the worship service is subject to change.
“I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations” (Psalm 89:1). We gather to sing of the great love of God through Jesus
Christ. As you worship with us may the Holy Spirit work in you to draw you closer to Jesus so
that you will become more and more like him. Welcome to worship!
Pastor Michael’s I John series, “Walking in the Light” continues this morning as we look at
I John 4:7-5:4a. Next week the series will conclude with the final verses of I John 5 as we
participate in a Thanksgiving themed worship.
Pastor Michael’s sermon discussion class will take place during the Sunday School hour in the
sanctuary.
Keep filling those Peter Fish! We will be collecting them next Sunday as part of
our Thanksgiving Service.
There will be NO SUNDAY SCHOOL next Sunday due to the Holiday weekend.
The deacons gratefully acknowledge the November 11, 2018 receipts: General Fund-$6,235 and
Community Christian School, $1,302.
Today’s offerings will be for the General Fund and the Gideons. Please see your bulletin inserts
for more information about the Gideon ministry. Next week our offerings will be for the
General Fund and the Partners In Education fund at CCS.
The Shepherding Teams meet tomorrow night. Please keep them in your prayers and they
work together to meet the needs of our growing congregation.
Our Church Family We express our sympathy to the family of Carol Kiel. Carol passed away last week Friday and
her funeral took place yesterday.
Sheryll Kjos has received word that she will need further surgery following a biopsy of a tumor
she had removed earlier. That surgery is currently scheduled for December 6th. Please keep her
and John in your prayers as they prepare for that.
John Santema had a check-up last week in which doctors indicated he would have to continue
with not bearing any weight on his legs. Please continue to keep John in your prayers as the heal-
ing process is slow. John & Brenda would like to thank all of you so much for your visits, cards,
prayers, and concerns. They appreciate their church family and the love you have shown them!
Clara De Vries and her family send a word of thanks to you, her church family, for your prayers,
cards, and well wishes! She continues with her rehab at: Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute,
Clara De Vries-Room 114B, 3915 Golden Valley Road, Minneapolis., MN 55422
The Mission Society would like to say thank you to all the individuals, families and kids who
donated items or postage to the Samaritan Purse this year. Because of your generosity, 63 kids will
be blessed this Christmas season!
Attention all Sunday School Children, Youth Group Students and Parents: Rehearsals for the
Sunday School Christmas Program/Candlelight Service will be December 2, 9, and 16. Please all
meet in the sanctuary immediately after the service and you will be given instructions from there.
Parents, help your younger children with the change and where to go after church. Thank you.
COME SING IN THE CHRISTMAS CHOIR! Our rehearsals will begin on Sunday, December
2nd after church and will continue to meet each Sunday morning until Christmas. We will rehearse
upstairs by the kitchen. Hope to see you there! If you have questions, please call Barb Bekius.
Come On Ring Those Bells! Our church has been asked to ring bells for our local chapter of the
Salvation Army on Saturday, December 8th from 8 to 4 at Teal’s in Milaca. We have 4 shifts of 2
hours each to cover. We are looking for at least 2 people for each shift. If you are interested and
able to help, please put your name on the sign up sheet in the office. You will be given all the
supplies you need, and all of the money raised stays to help those in need within our own commu-
nity. This would make a great family service opportunity!
Please continue to keep our GAP Team in your prayers. Plans for their trip continue to
progress. They have been meeting on a regular basis in preparation for their trip in late February.
Also, if you would like to support that ministry by purchasing an apple pie or two (or ten) they are
available for you in the freezer in the back of narthex next to the drinking fountain. Thank you for
your support of this ministry. (They are also available at Ashworth Appliance, Country Sales Furniture, King Sparrow, Improvement Warehouse & Foreston Creamery).
A Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be held on Thanksgiving Day at the Milaca Alliance
Church from Noon until 2:00 p.m. There is no charge for this meal. Please call 369-4247 to make
a reservation. Meal delivery and transportation is also available. By the Community for the Com-munity.
A Community Thanksgiving Service will be held at Zion Church, November 21 @ 7pm. Pastor
Marie West from Lighthouse Fellowship will be sharing the message. Offering will be taken for the
Milaca Chapter of the Salvation Army and Feed My Starving Children.
GEMS Club will be having a Make and Bake Party on Sunday November 25 from 4-6. We will be
making ornaments to decorate a tree for church and baking cookies to hand out after the Youth
Christmas Program. Come and help the church get in the Christmas spirit! (Please Note: This is
not a regular SNL night so there is no Cadets, Kids Club, or Adult Class.)
It's nearly time for the GEMS Bake Sale! I can see your mouths watering already! On December
2, come peruse the goods after the morning worship service and support the GEMS ministry with
your freewill donation.
Family Faith Formation Tip - Help kids become eager participants in your family’s giving by
inviting them to identify a ministry for your family to support together, either financially or
through volunteering. For older children, suggest that they research local ministries to find one
that connects with their own gifts and passions. For young children, give them a short list to
choose from. (Faith Formation Ministries; crcna.org/FaithFormation)
Holiday Helping Hands: The Mittens are here!! Each mitten represents a child in our
county whose family needs our help to have a hope-filled Christmas this year. Grab a
mitten (or two!) and buy a gift that fits the suggestions and info listed. Bring your gifts back to
church, unwrapped with the mitten attached, by Monday, December 10. (Wrapping paper/gift
bags are also appreciated.) Thank you for helping spread a little Christmas joy to a local family in
need! Please call Ruth Ann Kragt with your questions.
