Hello fellow CMA’ers, supporters and motorcycling enthusiasts.

I thought for my final Chairman’s Chat would be a good time to reflect on some of the events of the past 12 months.

32nd Annual National Run 2013. What a great time of fellowship had by one and all at the National Run held at Forest Edge. Not only did we receive a lot of positive feedback over the weekend itself for your efforts but also later in the week via email and Facebook. I’d like to take this opportunity once again to say big thank you to my fellow Victorian CMA’ers for their willingness to help out when and where required, many hands did make light work.

CMA International Training. Ten of us gathered at my house in late November 2013 to complete the CMA International Training, which included Ministry, Servants Team and Spiritual Growth training. The feedback from everyone who attended was very positive. We got a lot from the Spiritual Growth Training sessions in particular, it’s a course well worth doing.

Church Visits and other events. We had some great church visits in-cluding the Samaritans BBQ and Biker's Church, Scotsburn Union Church (near Ballarat) and the Nhill Uniting Church, which we visit as part of the Inaugural Midway Anzac Meeting weekend hosted by Pilgrims CMC in Nhill. Then there was a wedding that followed which was held in the Nhill Band Rotunda. The weekend also included an exciting Triumph ride day coordinated by Lyn Schoolderman, bikes provided by Triumph and hosted by Wimmera Motorcycles in Horsham. A big thank you to all concerned. We had great weather, great fellowship and a great weekend. I can’t wait for next year’s Midway Meeting.

Motorcycle accidents. Sadly a couple from our number were involved in serious motorcy-cle accidents (Malcolm Scott and John Rowe)

and one in a less serious accident (Daryl Tate) shortly before the National Run last year. Please keep them and their families in your thoughts and prayers.

Passing of Barry Huggett. We also mourned the passing of a beloved brother in Christ, Barry Huggett. Barry was a great advocate for CMA and a wonderful man, he’ll be sadly missed. I do, however, look forward to the day when we’re reunited in heaven. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with Peggy and their families.

Before I sign off for the last time, I’d like to take this opportunity to say big thank you to the other committee members etc. for their tireless effort, John Krause (Vice Pres.& Newsletter), Colin Berris (Secretary), Jo Henderson (Treasurer, Apparel & this year’s GOB committee chair), Dave Graham (Bikes for Pastors & Church Visits), Penny van Houts (Committee) and Gordon McPhee (Committee). Thanks also to all the Area Coordinators for their fantastic contribution. They’re the glue that keeps all of our CMA Vic members connected and informed. A big thank you to our Website and Facebook adjudicators – Neville Weeks and Adam Tattersall. Finally, thanks to all our members and supporters for being there for one another and making CMA the wonderful organisation that it is. I wish our new President all the very best and pray that God would move mightily through them and the new committee. It’s always exciting to see change and I look forward to whatever God has in store for us over the next year and beyond.

I’m also looking forward to the National Run in

October/November hosted by CMA NSW as

they’re such great opportunities to catch up with

everyone and enjoy a great time of fellowship.

Hope to see you there.

Greg

Greetings fellow bikers,

WOW, I am honoured for this to be my first newsletter message as the leader of CMA Victoria. I want to thank the outgoing committee for all the work, time and effort they have all put in over the last 12 months and longer, especially Colin Berris for his 10 years as secretary and Jo Henderson for her 10 years as Treasurer. Truly loyal people. I look forward to working closely with the new committee and congratulate them on the positions

they have taken up.

Area coordinators too are the back-bone of gathering our people together

and organising rides and fellowship.

I have a vision for CMA Victoria and I believe it is time for change. It is time for us to consider all things we do as an association and make sure we are doing it for the right reason, not just because we have always done it that way. I know that we are not attracting new/younger members because we are not refreshing ourselves often

enough.

Let the refreshing begin!

--- watch this space ---

We have some great ideas for allowing us to ride and gather as a state on a regular basis. I love this. I love that

we will be catching up regularly.

Allowing us to fellowship, encourage each other and get to know each other

more. As Big Kev said on TV

“I’m Excited!”

Part of my vision is to see an increase of

younger

members.

To achieve this we need to change the way we do things, we need to become modern in our

approach.

I also want to

encourage you too.

I have been in contact with Cheri Bright from CMA in the USA who is praying for us all. There is a verse that keeps coming to me from a lot of people of late

and Cheri too sent it to me on an email.

1 Corinthians 15:58

"Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labour in the Lord is not in vain."

I hope you are as encouraged as I am by this.

I am available if you need me.

You can contact me on my mobile

(0412 736 595) or email ([email protected]).

God Bless and ride safe.

Tattsy.

I have enjoyed the weekend which included great fellowship, and good teaching. To be in the company of like-minded Christian men and women who seek to be really genuine in their lives & work is really encouraging. We constantly need to be reminded that God’s grace is available to us, & we need to extent that to all whom we meet. In a hurting world, what a privilege to be allowed to share in the spread of the gospel.

H Major

To me it was the ease of people getting on, Rare these days.

Maybe unity in diversity is getting through.

Great smoothness in every thing

A great weekend

It has been a joy to get to know others better.

To share the beautiful environment, the great food & the time together.

We were blessed with great weather, a great ride, a great walk and music to praise GOD

JO

For me it’s always a great opportunity to catch up with my fellow CMA’ers. It’s a great time of fellowship and I always learn a little something more about each person, I would have never known had I not come along and participated.

On arriving at this beautiful property, we instantly felt at home, by the warm welcome of such lovely people. The whole weekend was peaceful & relaxing with good fellowship.

Helen & Ian Docherty

Thanks Lord for this beautiful weather. Thanks to the Rowville Baptist Church music team. Thanks for friends & Bikes.

BMW’s do fit on Triton dual cab utes!!

The GOB weekend has been great. The ride was very nice and the location with all the scenery. The coffee and the cake was delicious.

The walk in the country was awesome. It’s cool that there was an option to walk a further distance up the hills. The devotions after each was fantastic as well.

Thomas Cook

Well, I thought the whole weekend was excellent from start to finish. The weather was better than we could have imagined. A foggy overcast morning gave way for a beautiful sunny afternoon. Greg & I arrived just after dark, when the mist was just closing in.

The ride to Emerald & Gembrook was glorious in the sunshine. I particularly liked crossing the Puffing Billy line and the iconic trestles & Station infrastructure.

The walk-up hill & down dale in the late afternoon, immersed in the natural landscape and the farm land was great. I really liked the lake and climbing back up to the look out.

I had numerous opportunities for ‘deep & meaningful’ conversations, especially with our CMA members, and the local Salesian staff. Thankyou, Father Martin for your hospitality.

The food was very good- salad rolls at lunch, and the very hearty meatloaf & potatoes evening meal.

Sunday worship & Dave’s message was Inspiring & Challenging. I enjoyed the challenging Casting Crowns song ‘Jesus , friend of sinners’ , I’m a big fan.

CMA Australia

WWW is not just the internet!

35 years ago a group of Christian motorcyclists got together in Sydney and decided to create an Association, simply put it was a Christian Motorcyclists’ Association and so that is what it was called. They did not know that only a couple of years earlier Herbie Shreve had the same idea in the USA or that over in the UK that year the Christian Bikers’ Association was also formed. Jump forward to recent times and CMA in Australia became part of the CMA International movement and thanks to the internet the communication channels were open and easy to access. Soon we had CMA members from the UK making contact as they prepared to ride down under, visits from CMA USA’s evangelist, Kerry Gibson, CMA members from South Africa who had emigrated joining up with us and even the president of CMA Peru looking to touch base as he passed through Sydney. Suddenly it was a World Wide Web of Christian Motorcyclists all looking to greet their brothers and sisters and have family reunions.

But more important than this was the movement within Australia to unify the various states. Each of the states operates autonomously and over time they almost became six separate entities, but God has been stirring people to bring them together: to create a common force for good. The Bikes for Pastors programme has been running for 11 years and in that time has supplied 16 motorbikes to pastors. Each of the States has in some way impacted communities internationally; through donations of wells, motorbikes, maintenance training visits and other activities.

Following is a word from a leader of each State:

South Australia It is God who does the work: His sweat, His glory. We do not strive to do good for our own glory: we are just his vessels. In South Oz we try to get along with each other and with the people we meet and our aim is to encourage them. We treat the believer and the stranger with the same love, friendship and joyous good humour! The Peregrine Rally on the last weekend in August is gaining momentum. All welcome to attend. The rally promotes fun and mateship. Mostly it's about presenting Christ as human, approachable and relevant.

Love Derek (SA)

Western Australia Getting lots of enquiries on website re CMA.

Good numbers on rides: country church ministry rides well attended and well received by locals. Coffee rides where we stop and pray, and day rides also well attended. We had our usual stand at the York Motorcycle Festival, supplying bottles of water, a place to sit and opportunity to chat. We also support Mandurah Toy ride doing whatever needed to help out the organisers.

Colin (WA)

Tasmania We started our new year in July 2013 with a new constitution and 3 separate branches, each under the guidance of a Vice President. We also welcomed into the fold 12 new CMA Ministry International members.

We have also opened a new website, www.cmatas.org and now have rides, events, videos, forums and pictures available to the members. CMA Tas has also attended church parades, church functions, such as, Church Together and our most recent event was to set up a stall at the Ulverstone Bike Show. As you would see from our videos, Tasmania is motorcycle heaven.

Our aim this year is to consolidate as a group and continue to grow in depth of commitment to the CMA cause, and become more focused in building the Ministry in a more meaningful and serious manner.

Queensland Our numbers are growing steadily and quite a number of members are doing the ministry training.

We’ve had our usual “half-way” meets this year and also supported several charity rides: Blue Ribbon ride, Christmas toy ride, and Pink Ribbon ride. We had our usual presence at the Laverda bike show (the biggest bike show in Qld) and the Midlands Easter Fest. Also this year Qld hosted the annual Ulysses AGM. This is a gathering of several thousand riders in the over 40 age range: a great opportunity to reach out to them and connect with Christians in that club.

Chris (Qld)

Victoria Victoria hosted the 32nd Annual National Run in 2013:

I’d like to take this opportunity to say big thank you to my fellow Victorian CMA’ers for their willingness to help out when and where required, many hands did make light work. In particular I’d really like to say a special thank you to those involved in organising and running the event . Not only did I receive a lot of positive feedback over the weekend for your efforts but also later in the week via email and Facebook. Also, hearty congratulations to Lisa on her re-election as our CMA National Coordinator, well done Lisa.

Cathy and I had the privilege of hosting Kerry & Debby Gibson from the USA at our home who came all this way once more to attend the National Run. We really enjoyed their company and found them to be such a blessing to us. We look forward to meeting up again with them soon, hopefully the next National Run in NSW.

Ten of us gathered at my house in late November to complete the CMA International Training, which included Ministry, Servants Team and Spiritual Growth training. The feedback from everyone who attended was very positive. We got a lot from the Spiritual Growth Training sessions in particular, it’s a course well worth doing.

Sadly, a couple from our number were involved in serious motorcycle accidents, and one in a less serious accident shortly before the National Run. It would be great if you could let them know you care through your acts of love. Praise God that they all survived and thank God for placing the right people in the right places to come to their aid.

Blessings, Greg (Vic)

NSW The last year has seen our usual fellowship weekends out in country churches, support of charity rides and church raids and support of other Christian bike clubs at their shows and rides. Our monthly “Communion on the Cliff” is ongoing with any bikers welcome to meet with us at this scenic spot to honour our Lord.

Two of our number, a husband and wife, did The Around Australia Ride in 31 days with The Steven Walter Children's Cancer Foundation, raising funds to support the research into childhood cancer.

Two other members took it upon themselves to reach out to the orphans of Haiti and established a home there for 24 kids and more to come. One of these two has been living in Haiti and has enjoyed immensely her contact with several CMA USA chapters and the CMA ladies when she pops over from Haiti for respite.

This year saw a first when CMA NSW joined with other Christian bikers and went aboard one of Australia’s Naval fleet to pray for the ship and her crew before they sailed to the gulf.

Lisa (NSW)

We are keen to move forward into an ever increasing and enthusiastic CMA Australia. We look to our Lord for inspiration and seek to glorify Him.

I, personally, look forward with anticipation to the meeting with CMA leaders from around the globe in October and to, finally, experiencing the “Colors Rally”.

The Gypsy Tip

Can you have a sleeping mat that's compact and lightweight (to carry on the bike) and not sacrifice warmth and comfort?

Sure Can!

Have a look at Exped down mats.

This is not only one of the lightest and smallest mats I have ever had, but also THE most comfortable.

It blows up easily with the schnozzle pumpbag. 4 bagfuls and it's ready

We raised $182.25 on Sunday for our latest “Bikes For Pastors” project.

Good news - now we have enough funds to approve the purchase of our next donated motorbike to the church planting ministry of “Living Light Foursquare Gospel Church” via Pastor Magi Goro in Papua New Guinea.

See attached photos of Pastor Magi and his family

Thanks for all the donations so far during 2014, stay tuned for more photo’s of the bike as it arrives on the mission field.

These photo show Pastor Magi Goro ministering to a community in Papua New Guinea
