Ministry thru Music Stan Pylant, Director of Music

All musical groups resume rehearsing in January. The Children’s Choir and Augusta Youth Chorale on Sunday, January 5, the Sanctuary Choir and Brass Ensemble on Wednesday, January 8. If you have any questions or inter-est in participating within the music ministry at Christ Church, please contact Stan Pylant for more information at 706—210—9090 or via email to spylant @christchurchpres.org.

Interested in singing celebratory Easter music, Sunday evening, April 12, with the Christ Church Sanctuary Choir and Orchestra? You are cordially invited. Besides our regular Wednesday evening rehearsals, a few extra re-hearsals will be scheduled on some Saturday mornings to aid learning the music. Come sing with us, we would love to have you. Call Stan Pylant to join in the musical fun and worship.

“Let the godly sing for joy to the Lord; it is fitting for the pure to praise Him. Praise the Lord with

melodies on the lyre; make music for Him on the ten-stringed harp. Sing a new song of praise to

Him; play skillfully on the harp and sing with joy.” Psalm 33:1-3 (NLT)

Missions Moment

As we remember the missionaries that we support by giving and praying, here are some recommendations of what to pray for as we bring our petitions to Our Lord.

PRAY FOR OPEN DOORS

“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for the message…” Colossians 4:2 -3

Open doors can’t be taken for granted. Many mission-aries work in countries that are difficult to access or in areas that are resistant to the gospel. But open doors include more than just access to nations and people groups. Individuals’ hearts also need to be open and receptive to God’s truth. PRAY

that God would open doors of ministry, blessing part-nerships and friendships.

that those who serve will be led by the Holy Spirit and recognize open-door opportunities.

that God would lead His people past barriers to hearts ready to receive His Word.

PRAY THAT GOD’S WORD WILL SPREAD

Finally, dear brothers and sisters, we ask you to pray for us. Pray that the Lord’s message will spread rapidly and be hon-ored wherever it goes, just as when it came to you . 2 Thessa-lonians 3:1

Obstacles must be removed to allow God’s Word to spread rapidly and freely, and missionaries need the strength to continue in the face of opposition or diffi-culties. Just as Aaron and Hur supported Moses’ arms in the battle against the Amalekites (Exodus 17:12), you can strengthen the arms of missionaries by sup-porting them through your prayers. PRAY

for strength and stamina as missionaries encounter an-tagonistic spiritual forces. Ephesians 6:10 -18

that people will resist Satan’s plans to obstruct the spread of the gospel. James 4:7

that God’s Word will indeed spread rapidly and be hon-ored wherever it goes.

Children’s Chatter . . . Let’s Talk about

Wonderful Wednesdays Beginning January 8, as we resume our Wednesday night activities, the pre-k through second graders will begin a new activity. Our third through sixth graders will continue their road trip through the Bible. The first trip will be a visit to the palace of King Xerxes and an introduction to a woman named Esther who played an important role in saving her people, the Jews.

Our pre-k through second graders will begin a study of the Apostles Creed. This creed has been passed down for hun-dreds of years to give Christians a clear and concise explana-tion of who God, Father, Son, Spirit is. Each week we will learn a small piece of the Apostles’ Creed, a related Bible verse, and do hands-on activities to reinforce the creed.

Please join us for these Wonderful Wednesdays, food, fellow-ship, and fun for all! See you in 2020!

Trail Life Trek

Trail Life USA GA-2215 traveled to Fort Jackson National Cemetery on December 14 to participate in the annual Wreaths Across America Day. Afterwards, they went to the SC State Museum to learn about SC history and culture, the Apollo Space program, and to view the planetarium show “The Star of Bethlehem.” 2019 has been a year of growth with the troop in many ways. The troop has grown to more than 50 Trailmen. We have continued many of our traditional activities such as visiting the Battle of Aiken and First Thanksgiving Dinner, as well as attending the Na-tional Summer Adventure in Toccoa GA with over 300 Trailmen from across the USA. Continue to pray for our Trailmen that they would grow in character and leadership while experiencing outdoor adventure.
