Goal is to make spin-imbalanced Fermi gas of 6Li in one dimension.

Atoms have to be in the quantum degenerate regime, so their temperature must be very low.

The Experiment

-Used in the magnetic trap step, the coil forms are shaped to hold the wire into two circular and one cloverleaf coil.

-There is one set of three coil forms on either side of the MOT. The two sets work together to create a trap.

-Power dissipated ranges from 225W to 4.4kW in each coil.
