GLOBAL TOP 100Chonbuk National University

Welcome to Chonbuk National University International Summer School 2012! I would like

to express my gratitude for your interest in the Chonbuk National University International

Summer School program.

Chonbuk National University, founded in 1947, is widely acknowledged as one of the

country’s largest, oldest and top-ranked universities among 24 national universities in

Korea. Our university prides itself on three fundamental pillars: Freedom, Justice and

Creativity. CBNU ranked 8th among Korean universities and 273rd globally by The Times

Higher Education World University Rankings powered by Thomson Reuters in 2011.

CBNU was also recognized as the best teaching university in the same year. We will rise to

become one of the world’s most prominent universities in the near future.

Another unique feature about CBNU is that it is located in Jeonju, “Korea’s most Korean

city.” Through the “Korean Traditional Culture Experience” course, students will get the

opportunity to visit diff erent monuments and historic sites in the Jeonju area, off ering

an insightful look into the cultural make-up of Korea. Despite the short period of time, I

believe students will develop a genuine connection to Korea.

We hope you will share our passion and pride as we continue to expand our boundary

globally, and become internationally recognized as the global standard.

We look forward to welcoming you all at CBNU ISS in the summer of 2012.
