Choice Project There are many project choices in the categories of 10, 15, and 20 points. There are 2 possible rubrics, and each project option has been assigned a rubric. You can complete each option only once. I am not able to provide the supplies.

In class you will have 4 days to complete this assignment: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Monday, May 12. The project is entirely due on Friday, May 16.

8-Song Character Playlist (Option 2 Rubric)

Create an 8-song playlist to represent one of the main characters of Julius Caesar and, for each song, write a 3-sentence paragraph explaining why you chose that song.Qualifications:• Songs must be appropriate.• The explanations of your choices must be present.• The project can be turned in in PowerPoint, Prezi, Microsoft

Word, or anything else you can think of, really.

10-Frame Julius Caesar Graphic Novel (Option 2 Rubric)

Turn some portion of Julius Caesar into 10 frames of a comic book or graphic novel.Qualifications:• The events depicted in your work must obviously reflect part of the

play.• It must be 10 frames and show artistic effort.• This can be done on paper, or, of you are capable of designing

animation on the computer, you can do it there.

Vlog Post(Option 2 Rubric)

Video record yourself explaining one of the scenes in the play (of 4 pages or more) to someone confused by Shakespeare. Then, discuss the significance of the scene to the play as a whole.Qualifications:• The information in the video should be accurate/correct.• The video should be no less than 2.5 minutes.• The video should show some editing effort (Title/opening slide?

Music?).• This can be done with any software you are comfortable with.

Vlog Post(Option 2 Rubric)

Soliloquy Song/Rap(Option 1 Rubric)

Turn a funeral speech or a soliloquy into a song or rap. This option gains 5 points if your perform it in front of the class or on video.Qualifications:• The song/rap should be a close paraphrase of the portion of

the text you are covering. Closely tied to the play.• For the +5 points, the performance should demonstrate

effort.

Scene Performance(Option 2 Rubric)

In groups of up to 3, film a scene from the play. Qualifications:• The scene must be greater than or equal to 5 pages long.• There must be meaningful effort put into costumes and set.

Painting(Option 2 Rubric)

Paint a picture that represents the play in some way. Then write a ½ page Artist’s Statement explaining the significance of your image.Qualifications:• The painting can be done in oils, acrylic, tempura, watercolor,

spray, etc.• The Artist’s Statement should be ½ page double-spaced,

Times New Roman, 12 point font.

Character Autopsy(Option 2 Rubric)

The instructions for this project are on a separate sheet of paper.In pairs (2 people maximum), choose a character and analyze them based on questions tied to different parts of the body.

News Story(Option 2 Rubric)

Pick a scene from Julius Caesar and present it as a news story, complete with a headline and key details. You may use lines from the play as quotes, and you should focus on what is most important to the scene while maintaining a journalist tone. This can also be submitted as a video news report!Qualifications:• The information in the news story should be accurate/correct.• The video should be no less than 2.5 minutes.• Or

• The written report should be 1 page double-spaced, Times New Roman, 12 point font.

Illustrated Timeline(Option 2 Rubric)

Create an illustrated graphic timeline of the play, highlighting what you believe to be the 10 most important moments with sufficient explanations (2 sentences minimum). This should be done in color, with care.Qualifications:• 10 Images• 10 Descriptions• Chronological Order• No Grammatical Mistakes

Blog Conversation(Option 2 Rubric)

Create a blog post by one of the characters. Then have one or more other characters comment on it, becoming an argument between the initial poster and other characters. For each comment, explain why you believe that character would write that commentQualifications:• 15 comments minimum• A 2 sentence explanation of each comment.

Research(Option 1 or 2 Rubric)

You can pick from 3 possible topics. But no one student can do 2 research topics.1.Ancient Roman Government: Research the structure of the

Roman government around the time of Caesar.2.Cleopatra’s Love Triangle: Cleopatra had relationships with

both Ceasar and Antony. Research the situation surrounding that.

3.Conspiracy Theory: Research a modern conspiracy theory and compare it to the events of The Tragedy of Julius Caesar.

For any of the 3 research topics available, produce a 2 page paper or a 15 slide presentation.Qualifications:• For Paper:• The written report should be 2 page double-spaced, Times New Roman, 12 point font.

• For Presentation:• 15 slides minimum.

• For Both:• At the end, list the URLs of your research sources.• Quote any information taken from a source.• No plagiarism.

Movie Critique(Option 1 Rubric)

Watch a movie version of Julius Caesar and write a 2 page critique.Qualifications:• The written critique should be 2 page double-spaced, Times New Roman, 12 point

font.• There should be a paragraph for each of the following:• Acting• Set design• Soundtrack• Feel of movie• Anything else that jumps out at you

Julius Caesar Remix(Separate Rubric)

This assignment is detailed on a separate sheet of paper.Although Shakespeare wrote Julius Caesar hundreds of years ago, the characters, conflict, and themes are still relevant in today’s modern world. In this activity you will create your own interpretation of Act III scene one from the play.You will “remix” Caesar’s death scene: You may modernize the dialogue, the setting, the stage directions. You may bring props. You may bring costumes.Qualifications:• Groups of 3 maximum.• Qualifications and steps are listed on a spererate sheet of paper.

20-Frame Julius Caesar Graphic Novel (Option 2 Rubric)

Act VI(Option 2 Rubric)

Write a script detailing the events after Act V ends. It can be based on history or made up by you.Qualifications:• Minimum 8 double-spaced pages (not as much as it sounds like).• You must include at least 2 metaphors or similes, 2

personifications, 2 alliterations, 2 allusions, 1 apostrophe, and 1 aside in your dialogue. You must identify each device on the script that you turn in.
