China Daily’s National English Speaking Competition (Deadline: 21 March 2018) Dear Students, China Daily will organize the “23 rd China Daily – Coca Cola Cup” National English Speaking Competition at Hangzhou Normal University (杭州師範大學) in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China from 13 to 15 April 2018. The Competition was established by China Daily in 1996. It has been running for 22 years with the finals held in major Chinese cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Nanjing as well as Hong Kong and Macau. It brings together the best contestants from hundreds of Chinese universities every year. Known for its strict procedures and authoritative judging, the Competition is regarded as one of the most prestigious events of its kind in China. Since its establishment, the Competition has served as the qualifying contest in China for the annual International Public Speaking Competition organized by the English-Speaking Union, UK. To learn more about the Competition, please refer to the attached information (in Chinese only). HKU will nominate 1 student representative to attend the Competition. Full-time undergraduate students with valid travel documents to enter the Mainland
Fluency in English

Past contestants of the Competition, native English speakers or students with continuous
learning or living experience of one year or above in English speaking countries are not
eligible.
Cost
The contestant has to pay for his/her round trip flight, and a registration fee of RMB$2,750
covering meals and hotel accommodation of the Competition to the organizer during registration
upon arrival.

Please submit an online application with your CV, including details of your speaking experience,
speaking competitions joined and awards obtained, at http://wp.cedars.hku.hk/form/ChinaDaily,
by 21 March 2018 (Wednesday). Shortlisted candidates will be contacted on 22 or 23 March
2018.

“21 世纪杯”全国英语演讲比赛由中国日报社创办于 1996 年，
作为国内学术规格最高、组织最为严谨的英语学习竞赛，赛事一直以来
得到国际权威英语教学机构以及教育相关部门的大力支持和高度重视。
本届比赛于 2017 年 7 月启动，历时九个月，参赛选手覆盖全国各
大高校。经过互联网选拔赛、校园选拔赛、地区选拔赛的层层选拔，有
来自 20 余个赛区的优秀选手脱颖而出，将代表其所在学校参加全国半/
总决赛。总决赛是每年在英国伦敦举行的国际公共英语演讲比赛（IPSC）
的中国区选拔赛，有来自全球 50 余个国家参加，总决赛中获得“21 世
纪最具潜力奖”的选手将代表中国在国际舞台上展示中国青年学子的风
貌。

参赛须知
由中国日报社和可口可乐大中华区联合主办、21 世纪英语教育传媒和杭州师范大学
联合承办的第二十三届中国日报社“21 世纪•可口可乐杯”全国英语演讲比赛总决赛定于
2018 年 4 月 13 日至 15 日 在 杭州师范大学 举行。
本次从全国 22 个赛区选拔出的 60 余名优秀选手将与第二十二届演讲比赛全国总决
赛获前五名的学校选送的选手同台竞技。同时,为促进中国大陆和其他地区及国家间的交
流，大赛组委会还将邀请港、澳、台及海外选送的选手参与竞争。获本届大赛“21 世纪
最具潜力奖”的选手将于今年 5 月代表中国赴英国参加国际公共演讲比赛，进入总决赛
选手将有机会赴英国或港、澳地区进行游学访问。
为了更好的组织赛事，参赛选手和指导教师在比赛期间的食宿将由大赛组委会统一
安排，需交纳参赛食宿费 2750 元/人(一名参赛人员的食宿费用包含 4 月 12 日晚餐、13
日、14 日三餐、15 日早餐、午餐、16 日早餐和 4 月 12 日至 15 日 4 晚住宿，选手和陪同
人员 2 人共需交纳 5500 元)，往返交通费用自理。
请贵校在确认参赛后，于 2018 年 4 月 1 日前将以下参赛材料发至大赛组委会邮箱
[email protected]，邮件标题以“大学组+选手姓名+参赛材料”命名，同时请一并支付
参赛食宿费。
参赛资料明细如下：
1. 加盖学校（或院系）公章后的回执单高清扫描照片（见附件一《回执单》）；
2. 回执单电子版 WORD 格式（见附件一《回执单》）；
3. 参赛文件含以下内容：
1) 选手的半决赛已备演讲稿，以“选手姓名-大学半决赛”作为 MS Word 文件名；
2) 选手的决赛已备演讲稿，以“选手姓名-大学总决赛”作为 MS Word 文件名；
3) 选手的个人简介及演讲稿中文概要：
以“大学组-选手姓名-简介及中文概要”作为 MS Word 文件名，参赛选手在文中进
行自我介绍及评价，列出实习经历及曾获奖项，并简明扼要地概括两篇已备演讲稿
的主旨及主要内容，中文概要字数不超过 200 字。

4) 格式要求：题目字体应为黑体三号字，正文的字体应为 Times New Roman 五号字。
5) 内容要求：演讲稿内不得出现参赛选手姓名、学校及其它任何暗示其身份的语句；不
得出现有悖于国家现行政策、法规的言论；不得出现侮辱性或攻击性的表述；不得由
指导老师或其他任何人代笔。

即席演讲题目：半决赛和总决赛即席演讲题目由选手上场前 20分钟抽签选定。
比赛形式：
The 23rd China Daily “21st Century • Coca-Cola Cup” National English Speaking Competition Grand Final
半决赛由以下三个部分组成，每位选手的参赛时间总计 8分钟。
已备演讲（Prepared speech，限时 4分钟）：选手根据指定的主题自拟题目进行演讲；
即席演讲（Impromptu speech，限时 2分钟）：选手根据现场抽签得到的题目进行演讲；
现场问答（Questions and Answers，回答限时 2分钟）：现场将由两位评委分别根据选手已备演
讲和即席演讲内容提问，选手作答。
总决赛由以下三个部分组成，每位选手的参赛时间总计 10分钟。
已备演讲(Prepared speech，限时 4分钟）：选手根据指定的主题自拟题目进行演讲；
即席演讲(Impromptu speech，限时 3分钟）：选手根据现场抽签得到的题目进行演讲；
现场问答(Questions and Answers，回答限时 3 分钟）：现场将由三位评委分别根据选手已备演
讲、即席演讲内容提问及自由提问，选手作答。
奖项设置：
半决赛将选拔出 12名成绩优秀选手晋级总决赛，其余未晋级选手将获得全国总决赛二、三等奖。
总决赛将评选出冠、亚、季军各 1 名及一等奖 9 名，获奖选手将获得英国及港澳地区游学机会。
大学组总分最高并符合国际英语联合会要求的选手将被选送到英国伦敦代表中国参加国际公共
演讲比赛。所有参赛选手和指导教师将获得全国组委会颁发的荣誉证书。

大学生英语演讲比赛半决赛及总决赛的选手不可再参加本次比赛。参赛选手不得有在英语国家连
续一年以上的学习或生活经历。
2. 根据国际英语联合会（ESU）的规定，2018 年 5 月 14 日-18 日在英国举行的国际公共演讲比赛只
接受 16-20岁（即从 1997年 5月 19日之后-2002年 5月 14日之前出生）的选手参赛。本届大赛
仅推荐大陆选手参赛。
3. 入围全国总决赛选手的演讲稿、参赛照片及演讲录音录像版权均归 21世纪英语教育传媒所有。
4. 本次比赛的各项动态新闻将在大赛官方网站（http://contest.i21st.cn）和大赛官方微博、微信
