ABOUT THE PRESENTERS
Pacific Trading Ventures established China SciTech Foundation in 1999, a nonprofit
collaborative that promotes the exchange of science and technology between China
and US-based institutions.
Pacific Trading Ventures also launched the “Chinatech” event series in collaboration
with the Pacific Telecommunications Conference held annually in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Chinatech worked with HYSTA, IDG and Red Herring in bringing China-based
technology executives together with industry players.
Pacific Trading Venture professionals have more than 20 years of combined
experience traveling to China for the purpose of business development.

ABOUT THE MISSION The 2012 Oakland-China Trade Mission will strengthen and promote greater economic, business and cultural ties between Oakland and China. The Mission will allow participants to establish trade connections, strengthen existing relations, promote Oakland trade and investment opportunities, launch joint ventures, and source potential suppliers.

DESTINATIONS
BEIJING The capital city of China, Beijing is the country’s center of politics, culture, education and diplomacy and he second largest city in China in terms of population after Shanghai. Beijing is amongst the most developed cities in China with industry accounting for over 70% of its GDP. Host of the 2008 Olympics, Beijing has increasingly become known for its innovative entre-preneurs and high-growth start-ups. The city is divided into 16 urban and suburban districts and two rural counties. Beijing serves as a major transportation hub, with dozens of railways and expressways and an international airport. Beijing Daxing International Airport is planned to accommodate up to 200 million passengers a year, that will make it the world’s busiest airport when complete in 2017.
SHANGHAI With a population of over 20 million, Shanghai is widely regarded as the center of finance, trade and communications in China. Located mid-coast of mainland China, it sits at the mouth of the Yangtze. One of the world’s busiest seaports, Shanghai is a major destination for foreign corporate headquarters, fueling demand for a highly
educated workforce. Shanghai has ranked first as the world’s busiest cargo ports since 2005. The city has recorded double-digit growth for 15 consecutive years.
Shanghai is a popular tourist destination renowned for its historical landmarks such as The Bund, City God Temple and Yuyuan Garden, as well as the extensive and growing Lujiazui skyline. It has been described as the "showpiece" of the booming economy of mainland China.

PASSPORT
Securing or updating a passport for the trip is your responsibility. Passports must be valid through May 2013.
VISA
All travelers must have a valid Chinese visa. It is your responsibility to obtain a travel visa. Proof of visa must be received by Pacific Trading Ventures in advance of trip.
Payment in full for trip registration is due October 8.
