L et the sounds of the holidays whisk you into a winter wonderland this season with the spirited and heartwarming music of A Celtic Christmas with the North Shore Celtic Ensemble! On December 9, these young musicians and their special guests are taking over the Chilliwack Cultural Centre with a with unique arrangements of classic Christmas classics. It’s a concert that’s sure to spread Christmas cheer. Composed of more than fiſty-five musicians, the North Shore Celtic Ensemble is a charitable non-profit organization that performs locally and abroad. e group got their start in 1999 at the Waldorf school in North Vancouver, then known as the Waldorf Celtic Ensemble. In 2002 the group became known as e North Shore Celtic Ensemble and now, 19 years aſter their initial start, they have expanded into a four-ensemble organization. Originally performing Celtic music, the group has diversified their repertoire to include a larger variety of genres, appealing to a variety of audiences, including jazz, classical, folk, and much more. But on December 9, the North Shore Celtic Ensemble is returning to their roots with a performance of A Celtic Christmas. is breathtakingly exuberant group will be joined by special guest Irish dancers Eire Borne Irish Dancers from the De Danaan School of Irish Dance. As well as the incredibly talented youth fiddle group, Bad to the Bow. Since its start in 2000, the De Danaan School of Irish Dance has been operating out of Burnaby and Langley. eir accomplished dancers perform and compete locally as well as internationally, and now they’re bringing one of their talented troupes for this lively festive performance. With their colourful and eclectic repertoire, the dancers complement the Celtic tempo perfectly with their brilliant footwork. Bad to the Bow, a youth fiddle group established in 2007 takes traditional Celtic tunes and applies cutting-edge contemporary string playing techniques. A Celtic Christmas is coming to the Chilliwack Cultural Centre on December 9 at 7:30 pm.
