Lecture and Information Dissemination to Parents on Child Protection and Anti-Bullying Policy

A. Narrative Report

Since the institutionalization of the Anti-Bullying Act (Republic Act 10627)

in 2013, the Department of Education (DepEd) has advanced its Child Protection

Policy (CPP) through the creation of Child Protection Committees in schools

across the country.

The policy puts primary importance on the well-being of children, as well

as developing a safe and nurturing learner-centered institution- which is very

much pronounced in the Mission, Vision and Goals of the Department of

Education.

DepEd’s CPP mandates all elementary and secondary schools to create a

Child Protection Committee (CPC), composed of school officials, teachers,

parents, students, and community representatives.

Hence, a seminar has been organized by the Child Protection Committee

for the proper information dissemination for the parents and guardians of the

pupils. Teachers served as speakers during the seminar to promote zero-

tolerance policy for any act of child exploitation, violence, discrimination, and

other forms of abuse.

A live interaction was drawn from the crowd towards the topic. Other

parents sound out their queries, and a few of them even shared some anecdotes.

At the end of the session, the gratefulness within the parents was felt as

they smile while walking through the gates of the school hand in hand with their

children.
