Some primary initiatives to address child poverty• Refresh the Healthy Weight Strategy in order to tackle

and reduce obesity• Healthy Schools Initiative • Reclaiming Social Work • Bring all of Hackney’s rented homes up to the

Government Decent Homes standard by 2012• Parks & Open Spaces • Increase usage and quality of leisure centres.

Make the borough safer, and help people to feel safe in Hackney

Some primary initiatives to address child poverty• Increase provision of universal youth services• The Hackney Youth Crime Reduction Strategy - the

framework for taking forward work with our partners to reduce youth crime in Hackney

• Tackle violent crime and street crime and work with the police and local community to tackle gang culture.

Promote mixed communities in well-designed neighbourhoods, where people can access high quality affordable housing

Some primary initiatives to address child poverty • Estate Renewal: A programme that addresses the

highest levels of need for physical regeneration in 26 of our estates

• Provide a sustainable community of mixed tenure homes, together with the necessary education, health and community facilities in a highly landscaped environment at Woodberry Down Estate.

• Bring all of Hackney's rented homes up to the Government Decent Homes standard by 2012

and its environment, for future generations
