Chiff Chat DEAN’S MESSAGE
Greetings, I want to wish you all a very happy spring. Spring
arrived on March 20th, with snow still on the ground and has been
followed by some extremely cold days. The spring flowers are
starting to poke their heads out where the snow has melted. With
April holidays fast approaching and everyone getting ready for
them, I want to wish our Christian friends a very happy and blessed
Easter, and to our Jewish friends a very blessed Passover. On March
1st the chapter presented Pedals, Pipes, and Pizza introducing
students of all ages to the organ. This event was held at the South
Congregational Church in Amherst. Everyone was pleased with the
attendance. I want to thank the members of the church for allowing
us to hold this event there and to Marilyn Brayne, organist at the
church, for making all the arrangements for us. Thanks also to our
Sub Dean, Quentin Faulkner, for being the presenter of this event
and to our Past Dean, Bill Czelusniak for demonstrating some of the
pipes and explaining how they work inside the organ chest. Last,
but not least, I want to thank Mary Jeanne Tash for taking pictures
of the event and then sending one off to national so that it can
appear in The American Organist magazine.
The next event was on March 23rd. It was a recital given by
Christa Rakich at Christ Church Cathedral in

for the date of that dedication recital. On behalf of the Guild, I
want to thank the members of the Cathedral for allowing us to hold
the event there and for putting on the reception that followed the
recital. I also want to thank the Cathedral’s organist, H. David
Pulliam, for making all the arrangements for us. A special thank
you to all the members who attended it and I am sure you enjoyed it
as much as I did. On May 10th at 7 pm. there will be a silent movie
entitled “It” staring Clara Bow with pipe organ accompaniment by
Peter Edwin Krasinski. It is a 1927 silent romantic comedy film

handsome and wealthy boss of the department store where she works.
This event is co-sponsored with Experience Music at United. It will
take place at United Congregational Church of Holyoke.
I look forward to seeing you at the silent film “It”. Happy
