Of Course We Do That!

In various verbal, oral, and even physical forms, this is a response that we have received on numerous occasions to inquiries regarding a supplier’s capacity to meet expectations and comply with code requirements. Other than raising a mental flag, this type of response doesn’t tell you much. How do you efficiently narrow the focus and effectively drill down through the window dressing to identify the BIG issues? John will share his strategies for implementing a credible, robust, and sustainable supply chain corporate responsibility program and highlight the resulting benefits.

The US Army is Having a Blast with IBP

IBP (advanced S&OP) has had a significant impact on the bottom line results of traditional manufacturing companies, but many don’t see the need for IBP because they believe they are unique. The US Army Materiel Command (AMC) took on the challenge even though they started out thinking they were unique. They not only stood the process up in two months, but the process was providing big results in four months. This presentation will describe the change management approach applied to overcome the “we’re unique” belief and to collapse the time to benefit, resulting in a $4.5 billion dollar reduction in inventory.

A Tolerance for Success

“Business Process Excellence” is an off-sited goal for many organizations. Process excellence brings the two-headed benefit of both efficiency and repeatability. Anyone who’s been close to “process” in operations knows that without good process CONTROL…process tend to wander away from the desired result. Process control cannot exist without a specified tolerance of variation. It tells the operator when the result is acceptable and when it is not. This session will examine how process tolerances can be created and deployed to the various metrics in S&OP and supply chain management.
