    topics

Working with women recently widowed or divorced,

or individuals dealing with nancial decisions for

the rst time, i.e. inheritance, substantial career

    change

Teaching clients how to interpre t performance

reports, not just read st atements

Discovering and gathering assets after divorce or

    a relatives death

Developing ret irement and education funding

plans to facilitate cash ow and saving needs

Encouraging clients to implement an estate plan,

Holding family meetings as clients age and choose

to share information with their children

Our mission is to assist clients in making some of lifes

most critical choices, decisions appropriate for where

providing sound advice. Her ability to help clients

maintain consistent focus during turbulent economies,

geopolitical events, and their own personal life-

changes is invaluable. Pat would say that her mid-

western mentality, ability to think long-term, and to

ignore the noise is a denite strength.

her career at Arthur Andersen where she focused on

investment and tax planning for wealthy individuals.

Staceys tax planning knowledge allows her to analyze

nancial and investment decisions from different

angles. Stacey recognizes that nancial planning is

not black and white and that in-depth and thoughtful

analysis is of utmost importance. Stacey would say that

understanding family dynamics, helping clients get

organized nancially, and working with clients to nda balance between enjoying what they earn and saving

sufciently for the future are the most enjoyable and

rewarding aspects of being an advisor.

Pat and Stacey have been a team for over 6 years and

truly manage their practice as such. Every morning

Pat and Stacey meet with their two assistants to

review operational details and other items affecting

clients. Working as a team and meeting regularly

allows us to collaborate, share ideas, and stay ahead

of client needs. Clients take comfort in knowing that

regardless of who answers the phone they will always

    receive the same consistent message.

We recognize the responsibility our clients

have placed with us and work hard every day

to maintain the level of trust a long-term client

    relationship implies.

    Enerspace Chicago

    Enerspace Chicago is a coworking

    space in Chicagos West Loop.

Its designed to be a beautiful,

inspiring, shared work space whereentrepreneurs, freelancers and mobile

professionals go to do their best

work. A veteran of both start-up and

    corporate environments, Jamie Russo

was drawn to the edgling coworking

industry as a way to support the growth

of entrepreneurship in Chicago and to

give people better choices for where

    they spend their work day.

The term coworking was coined in

2006 and there are nowabout 700 coworking spaces

in the US* that share a

    common mission to create

    contemporary,collaborative,

    community-focused spaces for

people to be productive and do great

    work. Coworking offers people an

environment that they cant nd in theirhome ofce or their corner coffeeshop.

While no two coworking spaces are

alike, they all strive to bring together

    mobile professionals that value the

benets of being a part of a community

and appreciate a professional place to

do business that offers amenities like

    conference rooms, free high speed

    Internet access, and typically, great

    coffee and tea service.

Her favorite success stories are seeingrelationships build among members

    and opportunities being shared among

    the Enerspace network. Mentorship, IT

    help, websites being built, marketing

    resources being shared...thats the

kind of thing that you dont get out of

working at home or at Starbucks!

Enerspace is testing a twist on

    coworking by helping its members

integrate wellness into their day. So

    many professionals struggle with

balance and Jamie believes that the

    biggest opportunity for improvement

can happen at the place where you

spend 8 hours a day. You see the mental

    wellness component when you walk

in - ridiculous amounts of natural lightthrough windows that offer a stunning

view of the entire Chicago skyline, a

design that uses energizing colors and a

big open space that encourages an open

    mind and mingling with coworkers.

Enerspace is also biker, runner and

yogi friendly with a tness studio,

shower, and changing room. She also

hosts after hours health and wellness

    and small business programming and

    develops partnerships with local health

and wellness-related businesses tooffer member discounts and perks.

Lilija Gelazis discovered a passion or architecturein college. She had always been good at art, math, and science so discovering a passion or

architecture was a perect ft or her talents. It was in college that she learned about the intimate

connection between architecture and the culture thatproduces it. As an architect, she sees her missionas shaping the space around people in a way thatsmeaningul to them.

Most people take the built environment or granted. Its easy to appreciate beauty in architecture; however, good design is about much more than good looks.Architecture can prooundly aect the well-beingo its inhabitants. Even something like coordinatingcolor in a project has a signifcant impact. Lilija enjoys

helping create the space in which people live andwork; rom the grand gestures created by beautiulstructures, to the more intimate details that touchpeoples lives every day.

Since its inception, her business has alwaysembraced technology with designers using 3Dmodeling sotware as the basis o every project. This helps clients easily point out what they like ordislike during the design phase. In the near uture, she envisions introducing 3D printing to the studio tohelp test designs in physical prototypes.

Her design practice highly values communicationtools. She starts by taking her clients ideas andtranslating them; not only into drawings, but also intomodels. These artistic orms are the basis o a dialogueresulting in a strong fnal design. Then, this design

vision is translated intodocuments resulting inarchitecture born o a

    constructive process.Some o Lilijas most

gratiying projects havebeen the ones helpingentrepreneurs launchtheir businesses. Sheis proud to help clientsnavigate through a

jungle o regulations sothey can realize theirvision. For example, when three capable art school graduates asked orher help in making their dream o opening a caecome true, she was able to translate their concepts, graphics and interiors ideas into the drawings theyneeded to get the necessary building and healthdepartment permits. She is particularly proud thather skill in working collaboratively and maneuveringaround red tape was so instrumental in bringing abright spot to her community.

Having the opportunity to bring expertise andtechnology to her clients strengthens Lilijas beliethat this is a really exciting time to be a designer.

Personalized service, freedelivery and some of the bestmedication prices in the city?

It may sound too good to be true, but its exactly what Bhavi Patelscustomers have come to expect atWell Future Pharmacy. After 9 yearsworking for corporate pharmacies,Patel grew tired of being judged bythe number of prescriptions lledper hour and wanted to work in anenvironment where she could getto know her patients and take time

explaining their medications. In July,Patel created that environment forherself when she and her husband,

also a pharmacist, opened their ownbusiness.

When a customer walksthrough the door at Well Future, chances are they will be called by

name. Patel is dedicated to gettingto know her patients on a personallevel. By understanding a patientslifestyle, she can recommendvitamins and supplements andalso offer other services theymay be benet from including adiaper program, free eco-friendlymedication disposal, discountedpet medications, compounding and

free delivery. She recognizes thatrising healthcare costs are a majorconcern for everyone, especially the

uninsured and underinsured, andis committed to offering low prices, including $4 generic medications,

without sacricing personalizedservice. A combination rarely foundat the chain drugstores dotting

    nearly every city corner.

Patels favorite part of her jobis making sure customers understandthe medications prescribed. Thismay sound like standard procedurefor a pharmacist, but Patel says sheis shocked by the number of herpatients who are pleasantly surprisedthat she takes the time to make surethey know how to take the medicineand what side effects to expect.

While she admits that owningher own business has required morepatience than she anticipated, Patelis quick to point out that the personalsatisfaction and results shes alreadyachieved have also exceeded herwildest expectations.
