Riffle San Francisco is a hilly city. The undulating
feature of the hills is similar to the undulating surface of
water. This shape creates a soft and continuous formal
language which has a comfortable and relaxing spacial
quality. The design of the interior of the ferry is inspired
by the topography of hills and water waves, which
establish the character of ferry as the link from land sea.

The first deck has the lowest view in the
entire ferry. People on the first deck usually focus
on personal activities such as reading and
sleeping. This deck provide space for private
group working that need quiet environment with
few chance of getting interupted by public. This is
also a great space for people to do the preparation
and conclusion for their work.
Studio Project
Second deck is the middle level that
connects the first and the third deck. People on
the second deck want to communicate with each
other and relax themselves in the conversations.
Bar is located on the second deck to fulfill the
need of eating and drinking as well as providing a
connecting point between strangers.
The third deck is a open space for sight
viewers. The seats below the roof provide a warm
space for the viewers to watch the sight.

Phase Bart is one of the busiest public transportation in
San Francisco. People who ride on Bart, use it as a media
to travel through places as if it is a threshold between
starting point and destination. Inspired by the cycle
routing, the design for Phase focus on repeating and
redividing the circulation into multi cars conceptually.

Next University In this project, my goal is to create an interactive
space that makes students and faculties communicate
with each other. The continuous space blurs the
boundary between each room. The idea of put the seats
in a circular shape in the classrooms is inspired by the
King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.
Students and their professors may have a closer
relationship when they sit beside each other.

Spongy pendant is a decorative pendant for cafeterias, bars and homes. The pattern was random and organic in order to show the influence from the earlier inspiration lamps. Spongy pendant is made to create dreamy shadow effect that can help people to get relaxed under the soft light. It is made by colored acrylic pieces that are very good at reflect and refract light. The acrylic pieces are cut by laser cutting machine in order to let them have clear transparent edges. The thickness of acrylics helps to soften the light in a good way and create distinguishable light spot on the objects around. Spongy pendant is an appropriate choice for creating dreamy, relaxing, and inspiring atmosphere.
