U100 Insulin means 100 units insulin per ml suspension x 10 ml

vial = 1000 Units per vial. 

1000 unites divided into 100 cc potassium IV drip =10 units of

insulin per cc to infuse.  

Divided by the needed dose of .5 units/hr = .05 cc/hr

 The pump delivers .01cc fluid/drip, we need 5 drips an hour(60 min)

=1 drip every 20 min

½ daily dose = ½ (12) = 6 units/day with NpH insulin, giving the shots twice a day, 12-hours apart,

each shot = 3 units to give a basil rate of insulin.
