With the commencement of class work for the II Batch students, NESIPS shifted to its permanent building on 26 th of the same month. In the year 2007, NESIPS got approval from AICTE, Acharya Nagarjuna University and Government of A.P to change its name as Chebrolu Hanumaiah Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (CHIPS) and also transfered all the institutional related activities to its permanent building. ManagementIt was in the year 1967, a group of philanthropic people, senior Doctors, people’s representatives and well meaning citizens of Guntur have realized the inadequacy of professional educational facilities in Guntur and reacted positively for the establishment of several such institutions under the umbrella of Nagarjuna Education Society (NES). NES with a vision of promoting education, literature and culture of the region has established eight reputed institutions from school education level to professional education. The will and preservence of the founding fathers for over the last forty years has made the city of Guntur, an educational destination of Andhra Pradesh. NES today is the leader and mentor for numerous other educational societies that subsequently came into existence.
Sri Jagarlamudi Chandramouli, Dr. Kasaraneni Sadasiva Rao, Dr. Kondabolu Basavapunnaiah, Dr. Maddineni Gopal Krishna, Vidwan Sri Gogineni Kanakaiah, Sri Chebrolu Hanumaiah and Sri Rayapati Sambasiva Rao are few eminent personalities that are associated with NES for their profound contribution and commitment which makes the constituent institutions, a landmark for educational Excellency.

Infrastructure
Admission Process:Admission for the above courses will be made by Convener quota (70%) through common entrance test conducted by the State board and remaining seats by Management quota (30%), except for Ph.D Program. At present the total students on rolls are 535 with more than 70% of them being girl students. Average of 80% seats are successfully getting filled in various courses offered by this institution since the last five years.
About 15 scholars are pursuing Ph.D in Pharmacy either full time or part time, under the supervision of our staff at CHIPS, which was approved by Acharya Nagarjuna University as Research Center.
CHIPS is established in a spacious, ambient four storied building with a total built up area of 72,000 square feet. It contains 15 well-furnished classrooms and 25 highly equipped laboratories to teach and train various levels of Pharmacy curriculum. The state of the art infrastructure enables students to expand their intellectual horizons beyond the normal limits. CHIPS is equipped with highly sophisticated central instrumentation lab and machine lab which mimics a small pilot plant, enabling R&D activities pertaining to the design and manufacture of various types of dosage forms and their evaluation.
The institution is strengthened with well-equipped library having 7000 volumes of books, 1700 titles, 200 CD’s, 54 National and International journals, 100 e-journals, 3000 e-books with drug information softwares like MICROMEDEX, INVENTI and DELNET. The library is fully digitalized and also provides reprographic facilities for staff and students for their academic and research related activities.
1) Well-furnished classrooms with conventional tools to digital facilities.
2) Excellent lab facilities with basic experimental tools to highly sophisticated R&D equipment and Instrumentation with a worth of approximately 2.0 crores.
3) Computer lab with about 70 computers provided with 4mbps internet connection with partial Wi-Fi settings and smart classrooms with a worth of 25 lakhs.
4) Library having 7000 volumes, 1700 titles, 200 CD’s, 54 National and International journals, 100 e-journals, 3000 e-books and a seating capacity of 100 whose worth is 60 lakhs.
5) Seminar Hall with a seating capacity of 400 is fully air conditioned and provided with AV equipment worth 15 lakhs.
Animal house at CHIPS is built in accordance with CPCSEA norms to accommodate various experimental animals which is required to carryout basic experiments at graduate and post graduate level.
CHIPS is also fully furnished with air conditioned Computer lab which enables the students to develop soft skills pertaining to basic software applications and to improve their communications skills. Fully air conditioned seminar hall with Audio Visual facility is another asset to the institution. Medicinal plants of more than 200 varieties were planted within the campus which gives a healthy and lush green environment to the members of the institution. A separate canteen facility is provided to all the staff and students which serve healthy food at resonable cost. The entire campus is powered by 82.5KW generator for uninterrupted power supply. Reverse Osmosis plant with a capacity of 500 liters / hour is installed in the campus to provide hygienic drinking water to all the members of the institution.

6) Separate hostel for both Girls and boys is provided at N.E.S women’s hostel and men’s hostel respectively.
7) Patient care clinic was established at the campus for providing basic services of health care such as selling OTC drugs, prescription evaluation, Blood pressure and Blood glucose monitoring, patient counseling etc.
8) Bus facility is provided to all the staff and students, which covers the whole of Guntur city.
9) Both indoor and outdoor sports facilities are provided to students for their healthy growth along with academics.
10) Easy access to Andhra Bank, which is situated within the boundary of the institution.

As of now, nine batches of B.Pharmacy, seven batches of M.Pharm Pharmaceutics, six batches of M.Pharm Pharmaceutical Analysis and one batch of Pharm.D & Pharm.D P.B have successfully passed out from this institution. The overall pass percentage of this institution is in between 97-100% since its inception.

Co - Curricular & Extra – Curricular Activities
Apart from routine academic schedule, Chebrolu Hanumaiah Institute of Pharmaceutical Scineces is continuously encouraging its students to involve in extra and co-curricular activities. Research Activities
Several faculty members and P.G students are actively involved in research activities in thrust areas like improvement of dissolution rate and bioavailability of certain poorly soluble drugs, development of oral controlled drug delivery systems by using newer polymers and analytical method development and validation process for pharmaceuticals. All the staff members are encouraged to participate in various conferences, workshops, training modules on a regular basis to update their current knowledge.
About 200 research papers were published by college faculty members in various reputed national and international journals and more than 100 research papers were presented at various conferences by staff and students. Good number of staff and students won best poster awards during this process. A total of 139 Post Graduate projects were successfully guided and completed at this institution.
Several faculty members got their Doctoral degree while many others are in the pursuit of the same as in service scholars by utilizing the facilities available at the institute. This institution had also applied for several research grants to various funding agencies like AICTE, UGC, DST, etc. for upgrading research facilities at this institute. The institute is also providing outsourcing facilities to the neighboring colleges and few industries.

Chebrolu Hanumaiah Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences is actively organizing various professional activit ies since its inception. It also receivedgrants from various national funding agencies for the conduction of several programs. This inst itute celebrates world pharmacist day, NationalPharmacy week celebrations every year in order to install the professional competence among students.Medical camps, NSS activit ies, Pharma Expo are other various events that are constantly organized by the institute. Apart from these, Nationalfestivals, Class work inauguration, Annual and Graduation day celebrations are frequently organized during the academic year which brings afeeling of homeliness to all the staff and students.
