CHATTANOOGA 91 October, 2020 I overheard a conversation with someone saying: “You need to be a member of the Lodge. We have a great bar.” We do have a great social club with great bartenders, an excellent kitchen and wait staff, incredible food and exceptional libations! But, did you realize that over the last 129 years, OUR Lodge has provided hundreds of thousands of dollars and volunteer time to residents of our community in the form of activities, scholarships, and dona- tions to worthy causes that seek to help those in need and who are suffering from illness? We value and remember our veterans and make donations to organizations to assist them in carrying out their objectives and programs. We stand ready to donate time and effort to our community wherever or however it is needed. We take the lead in patriotic programs such as Flag Day, Memorial Day, and Veterans Day. Despite the challenges of Covid this year, we continue to pro- vide activities for our members and families, financial and emotional support for tornado victims, families and children of abuse, veterans and individuals experi- encing illnesses and hardships. We provided school supplies for youth in our area, support for our First Responders and food for local shelters and our homeless population. The spirit and responsibilities of being an Elk is not to be taken lightly! Yes, our Lodge has a great bar and social club, but I encourage us all to take on the spirit and the demanding responsibilities of being an Elk, not just a member!
