G [[ The neighbourhood team have been working very hard this month on speaking and gaining as many new contacts in the community as possible, this is so we can make as many residents aware of issues in the neighbourhood by sending out e-mails and newsletters. Please contact us if you or anyone you know would like to be added to the list. This month’s figures on all crime compared to the same time last year has seen a quite substantial decrease. We have seen a 28% drop in all crime across the community. Crimes such as domestic burglary have dropped in the same period over 50%, with no reported motor v ehicle thefts at all! This is great news with officers continuing to target those known offenders who are responsible for these offences. The intelligence levels are also on the increase through members of the community passing information through Crimestoppers and to the Police directly. This information is vital and is used to target those responsible. Please continue to share this information with us. You can e-mail officers directly on the details provided, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously. You can also send us a tweet through our Twitter site. As always, there are opportunists still out there. Please do not give them any opportunity to target you or your property. Keep all windows and doors secured, and don’t leave car keys/engines runni ng in these winter conditions. Report any suspicious activity to Police instantly so we can target any individuals + areas ! We have successfully executed three drug warrants, recovering numerous cannabis plants and related drug paraphernalia. One defendant is currently on bail awaiting a charge decision with another receiving a caution for his troubles and the last one being summoned to court. Cannabis is a huge problem for all; the smell is very strong and affects day to day living. It also increases the amount of criminal activity in the area, which ultimately escalates causing further Anti Social Behaviour (ASB). Officers are also aware of the problem with off road bikes. We have seen an increase in reports for this form of Anti Social Behaviour this month. Please keep the information coming into Police so we can target the person(s) responsible. The main problem area is Charlestown Road/Grange Park Road ; we need details of who is on these bikes and where they are being stored. Keeping with vehicles causing problems, Officers have seized a rental vehicle from a male who believed he could drive around in an Anti Social manor as he thought we wouldn’t be able to identify him. He will now have his day in court???
