Scottish Rebellion• Spring 1638: a Scottish army rebelled against Charles

• weak English army pay money to make the Scots return home money from the Parliament

• 13 April 1640: the Short Parliament refused the king’s demands

• 24 September 1640: the Long Parliament was called together

Triennial Act: the Parliament had to meet at least once every three years

Irish Rebellion 1641: Irish rebelled against the Protestant English and Scottish settlers
